    10:20 This is because iPhones capture a binned 12MP photo from that 48MP sensor and "enhance" it to make 24MP, it's not capturing 24MP photos actually. Therefore, the S6 with 16MP actual resolution will have more details. This was clearly explained in a video about iPhone 15 on Tony and Chelsea Northrup channel last year but all I could see is that fanboys defending Apple in the comments.

      although androids do pixel dimming that reduces resolution 12mp

      @@Techsnowballno, it quite opposite even tho apple said 48mp on HEFI max or raw. wait r u on 15pro? nvm he probably right, on 16 is new different story

      @arjunkrishna1 13 днів тому +4

      @@NandarAung-wl8ln 48MP mode captures full sensor photo without pixel binning. This discussion is about the 24MP mode, where it's just upscaling a binned 12MP image, exactly why a native 16MP photo from a 10 year old phone captured better details. There is no difference between iPhone 15 series and 16 series regarding this.

    Damn that S6 is from the era when Samsung was still using their bloated TouchWiz. MicroUSB did not age well as they get loose with age or the plastic middle bit breaks.
    Its amazing though that the S6 has a 1440p screen while Samsung's current lowest S series the S24 FE only has 1080p.
    Modern web and apps really isn't kind to old devices. As for app support on Android in my experience once you get to being 4 Android versions behind the current version app support is not great on the popular apps unless you go for the older versions which may or may not work anymore.
    The camera comparison is pretty much covered by the other comments being a combination of pixel binning on newer phones while straight 16mp on the S6, not as much processing on the S6, along with not as sharp camera optics, etc.
    One of the oldest still working Android phones in my family is a Huawei P10 from 2017. Its stuck at Android 9 (can't unlock the bootloader for custom rom) and its Kirin 960 and 4gb did not age well as even older versions of UA-cam & Chrome randomly crashes when it runs out of ram. Would probably just wipe then debloat it and turn it into a 4G wifi hotspot instead of getting a dedicated portable hotspot.

I wish I had gone with the 6/128GB version instead of the 4/64GB but the better one wasn't available in my country until few months later. I kept mine on Android 8 (because I didn't want the new horrible volume control menu thing) and I haven't had any issues with apps crashing

    I've been using a j6 2016 up until recently. I got away by getting older version of apps, which mostly worked. Since I used it for almost 8 years, I got used to newer verison of apps loading slowly.

    I've got a Galaxy S3 on Android 12 (you can get up to Android 14, LineageOS. Keep in mind it's way harder to use) and it works very good. I have a Tab S2 which I'm currently writing on which has Android 10 on it, I am also intending on upgrading it to Android 13 or 14 after a while and it runs really great! My mum's J3 2016 runs Android 7 LineageOS and I'm considering giving her another Samsung with a newer modded OS in a year or 2, her's runs great as well. I also own the A10 for the past 5+ years with the stock ROM and in a few years, I might continue to use it with LineageOS as well! If I got my hands on the S6, I'd place Android 14 on it. Please try it at least once as I want to see your review!

    It wasn't that bad unless if you play heavy games. It was a good phone if you install a custom ROM on it or at least installed the latest official Android 7 update from Samsung if you couldn't unlock the bootloader.
    FYI : I was daily driving a LG G5 which was released in 2016 which is 1 year after the Samsung S6 just except it has a Snapdragon 820 which is newer than the S6's processor but it still works fast with LG's latest Android 8 update, i have the Korean variant so i couldn't unlock the bootloader unless if exploits for unofficial bl unlocks was released.
    I have other phones there too which came out before and after the S6 :
    LG G3 which i rooted it and used stock Android 6 on it (i just wanted to keep it on stock until further notice) it runs better with optimizations and it was almost lag free.
    LG V20 which i have since last year and it runs LineageOS 20 except the screen was partially damaged and the front camera and microphone was failed. I could replace the front camera though but only if i got a replacement part. Replacing the microphone is impossible to do it homemade since it was soldered on the board. But the phone is pretty much lag free just like my daily driver.

    Please go to settings and upgrade the OS. Then try the play store and galaxy store again. I had an old S7 edge just a year ago (as a backup for my Ultra) and it worked just fine, I didn't encounter these issues. But it was about one year ago and it was one year newer model, so who knows...

    The majority of the lag is likely from Google Play Services updating and doing things in the background. Disabling will result in a crippled, but fast phone. The S6 may be old enough that a root and bootloader unlock is possible with updated ROM options which would make it usable. No guaranties. I still use an S7 without issue, although not my primary.

    bruh what
    who said that all the modern overloaded heavy applications and bloatware would run fine on 10-yo phone, even though it was a flagship someday? on phones like this you should use custom clients and alternative apps, or at least understand the old versions of popular apps. If you abandon modern heavy software, you will see, that old flagships still perform good in tasks, it were made for, and even still have some unique technical features. Just look on 500+ dpi of this s7)
    I am still using galaxy s5 for some tasks for now, and also lumia 950xl. I don't like to do a lot of things on my phone, i just using the most needed social networks, music (mostly from offline collection), camera, basic internet search and stuff like this. That's why I still can enjoy old flagships to the fullest.

    This is what happens If you are used to much better technology these days and are on an old but nostalgic Galaxy phones. Many say it's so laggy and say it's rubbish. I personally use a Galaxy S8 as my second phone. I personally have no problems at all. Of course, the S6 only has 3GB of RAM, which the iPhone X also had. Despite everything, good informative video.

    To think that a Motorola Razr v3i would have been a 10 year old phone in 2015 and would've felt 100x as old in 2015 than the s6 in 2025

  • @isharadhanushan2002
    @isharadhanushan2002 10 днів тому

    Another reason for poor performance is the battery. When the battery is degraded too much it can't keep up with the power draw, and the voltage drops a lot. I had a S5 that was completely unusable, but changing the battery to a new one fixed it. Somewhat usable, but ofcourse the same issues as of S6. It can't keep up with the new versions of android apps, the chipset is not powerful to run new updates of youtube, facebook, Instagram. Now its at Android 6.0 and youtube app no longer works since 2024.
