It is ILLEGAL to have a relationship with a married woman in the Philippines and you can be charged and arrested. If you're a foreigner, you will be considered guilty regardless of circumstances (lack of prior knowledge, being lied to, etc.).

They don't recognise divorce & they don't want you to get an annulment either. An annulment means 'we were never really married in the first place' & you can imagine what legal contortions are needed to prove that in court, how long it will take & how much lawyers will charge for it. Catholicism is the state religion in the Philippines so that's why it's a matter for the courts. Catholicism is also the reason why there's no freely available contraception in the Philippines.
Personally, I think thr Catho.ic Church has a lot to answer for in PH. They could use their power to do more good things instead of causing certain problems and doing nothing to compensate for those. Eg. No divorce and no birth control and no pregnancy termination. Makes life much harder for all those single moms. The only way to accomplish an annulment is if one partner is ruled as "Guilty Spouse" . In my case it would require prison time for my spouse and her boy friends. Then covid hit and he wasn't able to return before is visa expires because he was migrant here. Cut story short he told me the wife had two expectations. One the guy is rich and 2 he will bring her to the west. Once she realised none of that was happening, she took her travel and visa documents and went. 😢

Maybe you know by now, that divorce is not allowed in the Philippines. That is why there is no divorce here! If they marry they are married for life, and can never remarry! You can’t take them out of the country on a marriage visa, etc. Period. Also most single Filipino women I have met in the Cebu area are now much more educated in ways to lie and to get your money. It has changed dramatically over the last 10 years, to the point where you are correct don’t ever believe them. Even in the province things are changing .

One Lady I was sharing fabrics, her father is a general in the PH militarily. Another Fillipina I was talking to, I told her the general's dauthers last name, the Fillipina became very uneasy and apologized to the general's daughter. I am not sure what I placed myself into, but the general's daughter told me I would be fine. I am still friends with the general's daughter. She wants to be invited to my wedding. Filipinas are the best or can be. There are rotten apples in PH, but there are also slices of heaven on earth as well. Peace.

It's not that we don't believe in divorce. We don't have a divorce law in the Philippines. But we can file for a legal separation. Thanks for the advice sir. I plan on moving to Cebu in May 2025 to June 2025. I will be headed to Cebu for the 4th Time in January 2025 and February 2025. I think your comments about a bar girl are pretty much universal around the world and our spot on. I’ve not had much success with women who routinely head to the nightclub for happy hour with their girlfriends.
