This video will show you how to fix the high alkalinity + low PH issue you have in your above ground pool.
PH and Alkalinity move together however one will move bigger than the other depending on the chemical you use to adjust them. A muriatic acid will affect the PH more than the alkalinity so if you have a High PH and High Alkalinity and you add muriatic acid to correct the PH, the alkalinity will only move by a little and you will end up with a PH and Alkalinity that needs to go in different direction.
When you add Borax, it will raise PH more than the alkalinity but when you add baking soda it will raise alkalinity more than the PH. The best way to increase PH if you do not want to affect alkalinity is by aerating your water. If you repeat this process a few times you will get to the ideal alkalinity and PH level.
