Any lie to and with immigration laws are definitely dealt with strictly, he paid the price and the officers on duty did their job to protect their country.❤
The older man seemed legit but unfortunately breaking the law is breaking the law, and it was either fear or laziness as to why he didn’t do the right thing when staying before. His story I’m sure would have gotten exception but instead ruined his future. People need to see this and get an understanding you can’t avoid this.the officer needs to explain to him that it’s not just the criminal past but the fact you over stayed before.
bad call. they know the address of the daughter, could have given him at least a week to see his granddaughter. He's old, I hope he still gets to hold his grand daughter.
This one made me sad. I remember seeing an episode awhile back where an American who previously overstayed his visa by a few years was let back into the country. Sadly, in this instance, I think it was three strikes for no, and only one for yes. It didn’t seem like the officer explained that to the passenger though, he seemed to think it was just his criminal history. Might put him off ever traveling again.
The issue is not the criminal conviction he served time for. It's the fact he lied about it on official documentation the last time he was in Australia AND the fact he overstayed on an expired visa. He's at risk of doing that again especially now that he has a grandchild. Unfortunately, that's how it is.
While there is absolutely no doubt that this guy cannot be allowed to enter Australia due to his past, I absolutely agree with them on this, they should have allowed him temporary entry for like one or two days, which is done in some cases, to see his daughter and granddaughter and than leave Australia. I would consider that option for sure.
The laws do change, and it would be hard to be certain what was prohibited. I think that simply declaring that you have food and letting the officers take anything illegal is fair.
Try doing that in the UK. Over staying your VISA is a serious offence anywhere in the World, let alone holding up a bank and doing prison time 40+ years ago.
sad to see his bad behavior even after a 40 year conviction he still continued to lie and overstay..once a criminal it seems always now his family will have to visit him he claims to have changed...his actions speak differently
the old fella is going to rob another bank at the age his at, even if he didn’t tick off the right box on the previous trip, don’t understand what the issue is, made a mistake 40+ years ago, turned his life around & treating him like his just held up a bank 24 hours ago. he committed a crime, he admits it & is guilty for it but not like he committed the crime to live a lavish life style & flaunt money, he did what he did to support his family, his children. regardless of all that put aside, fair enough he over stayed his visa previously & that would be their concern. I mean if the border patrol actually did their job right, they wouldn’t be letting actual flops who come into the country & illegally overstay their visa & work. go to harris park 80% of the residents, businesses & what not have imports who are working illegally & overstayed their visa by months / years. sometimes they carry on to much
Uk guy does not get that the overstaying last time was a problem and he also lied on the visa for his last trip I think that should be explained to him
That goofy smile or confused look they give, then suddenly not understanding English every time they get caught with something illegal is so annoying. What they did to the grandfather for a crime he did 40 yrs ago was pure hateful.
So the guy that overstayed his visa and robbed a bank, great father figure. But the reason he overstayed has crossed my mind. He said his reason was because his daughter decided to not leave and so he stayed to make sure she got settled in. So, is he saying his daughter also overstayed her visa? Is she living there illegally? Hmmmm
He also LIED about being a felon the first time he entered the country, and he overstayed his visa last time as well. Who knows what he plans on doing the next time.
I bought my family a house, the result is I have not been able to say a word to my children for more than 4 years. Australian law supports, encourages and is geared towards alienation of fathers.
Even if the passengers are remorseful they always cancel them visas I never expect anyone who enters that room being granted entry they all get sent back
The grandfather doesnt seem to get that he lied on his last application which made the granting of the previous visa invalid and then he overstayed his cancelled visa by 2 and a half years. It does indicate that he doesn't respect for Australian migration law which I expect is not that much different from UK law.
Yeah, I get it and I appreciate the dilligence of the staff. That said, I would never be able to do what they do. Too much of a softie. I would have let the guy in to see his grandchild. Those people have a residential status in Australia and thus not considered a foreigner. They have to return to their homes in Australia and then are either fined or prosecuted by Australian law. The UK person has no status in Australia so he is subject to being denied entry.
The grandfather violated Australia's immigration law, and gets mad at the immigration officer for the cancelation. I sent my wife from the USA to Melbourne to see her Brother a few years back... I was very impressed by their online visa system....
She packed her pipe!! Honey! That's not too swift.
I bring my pipe with me too (marijuana pipe). Why shouldn’t she? The people in the wrong here are the Australians for making it illegal to have a pipe. Why are we wasting time and resources on this? Will taking her pipe and fining her accomplish anything?
"Eu fumo mas não trago. Quem traz é um amigo meu"😂 Lusophones will understand
So they sentenced the bloke to transportation back to England. That’s a switch from how Australia was initially settled.
Those are drug traficjers
Vietnamese here and im loath many of them .😡
15:24 if this is the case, why are none of them ever prosecuted?
The differences between the immigration laws in the US and Australia is astounding. They are so careful and for us it is anything goes. Just look at the mess we are in now!
Ur laws is the problem😂😂😂😂
@@tankman20064 You are correct!
The marks on her face gave it away.
the guy's face when he said "held up a bank" LOOOL
Wish We Have This System in Ireland, Australia has an Incredible Entry System, When I Was Arriving From Kenya 🇰🇪, With Hotel Accommodation, Wow They Were on me, My Address and Did I Have Enough Money 💰 to Support myself for That 9 Weeks, I’m Staying There, It’s an Absolute Incredible Border Control System 👍👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I ❤ This Show!
That broke my heart.
If the first pipe was a flower vase then what are all the others for - an entire freaking garden? She should’ve never boldly claimed it was a flower vase to begin with - it’s an insult to the officer and everyone else with eyes. I actually own a glass tube flower vase but it’s long and wide with a place to put actual water, unlike hers.
"I have no money". The same dumb excuse. Like somebody is going to fall for that...
I cannot understand why people would tried to bring stuff in Australia when it was clearly not allowed
Lack of common sense.
I feel for the old man but I mean, his criminal case is not the only problem. He also lied about his criminal conviction last time he visited the country and overstayed. What is stopping him from over staying again?
He'd have had a three year ban the last time. If that's not enough it should be longer, not done like this.
Time was, A criminal record was a shoe-in hahaha
Any lie to and with immigration laws are definitely dealt with strictly, he paid the price and the officers on duty did their job to protect their country.❤
This guy paid his dues to society!
Our Australian law is to lenient
Too lenient
The older man seemed legit but unfortunately breaking the law is breaking the law, and it was either fear or laziness as to why he didn’t do the right thing when staying before. His story I’m sure would have gotten exception but instead ruined his future. People need to see this and get an understanding you can’t avoid this.the officer needs to explain to him that it’s not just the criminal past but the fact you over stayed before.
bad call. they know the address of the daughter, could have given him at least a week to see his granddaughter. He's old, I hope he still gets to hold his grand daughter.
What the point in pleading if u never ever get access to see ur grandchildren and daughters it’s a big shame
10:50 is a dramatic change of the queen😮💨🙅♀😆
I LOVE IT WHEN PEOPLE BREAK MULTIPLE LAWS AND EXPECT SPECIAL TREATMENT. DUDE LIED ON THE FORMS AND OVERSTAYED PREVIOUSLY
WHICH HE HAD ALREADY BEEN PUNISHED FOR.
He committed a crime 40 years ago, paid for it in prision, and now, he is denied entry again?? That's a little much in my books.
The issue is not the criminal conviction he served time for.
It's the fact he lied about it on official documentation the last time he was in Australia AND the fact he overstayed on an expired visa.
He's at risk of doing that again especially now that he has a grandchild.
Unfortunately, that's how it is.
@@MissFeFe808 he should’ve advised the embassy if he wanted an extension of his stay.
I would’ve let him in because of his circumstances, but the lies he should’ve been mindful of.
He overstayed his visa the last time, who's to say he wouldn't do it again?
@@MissFeFe808 But who's to say he would do it again? There is no way to know.
bringing in food that prohibited should be reason to be denied entry..
that will teach em a lesson n deter other..
This world is just cold..
sad to see his bad behavior even after a 40 year conviction he still continued to lie and overstay..once a criminal it seems always now his family will have to visit him he claims to have changed...his actions speak differently
So he should have carried on lying about his conviction?
That's what you're saying 😂😂😂!
It amazes me how many people lie and say they don’t anything about the item that’s in question, although it’s in their bag.
Oh pleeeeasseeee….! refusing to pay summon of AUD380? Her handbag is easily worth more than that!!
the old fella is going to rob another bank at the age his at, even if he didn’t tick off the right box on the previous trip, don’t understand what the issue is, made a mistake 40+ years ago, turned his life around & treating him like his just held up a bank 24 hours ago.
he committed a crime, he admits it & is guilty for it but not like he committed the crime to live a lavish life style & flaunt money, he did what he did to support his family, his children.
regardless of all that put aside, fair enough he over stayed his visa previously & that would be their concern.
I mean if the border patrol actually did their job right, they wouldn’t be letting actual flops who come into the country & illegally overstay their visa & work.
go to harris park 80% of the residents, businesses & what not have imports who are working illegally & overstayed their visa by months / years.
sometimes they carry on to much
The woman with the glass pipe is wearing CFM shoes
Uk guy does not get that the overstaying last time was a problem and he also lied on the visa for his last trip
I think that should be explained to him
That goofy smile or confused look they give, then suddenly not understanding English every time they get caught with something illegal is so annoying. What they did to the grandfather for a crime he did 40 yrs ago was pure hateful.
It was cos he overstayed by 6 years AND lied on his previous visit!!!
I can only afford my rent on full time work.
They were not at all fair with the gentleman from England...disgusting He was forthcoming and honest. Yes, he made some mistakes in the past

Hmmmm
He wanted to help her settle in so I doubt it
I’m sure she was already “settled in” when he got there!! Why would she need his help to “settle in”??! 🤣😂
@chicagogyrl4846 You're "sure"? I'm sure you need a new battery for your hearing aid, as they arrived together.
Of course not - if that's the thought that crossed your mind it must have had a very short trip.
Don’t lie on your stat Dec! They’ll find out, one way or another, and you won’t get the benefit of hindsight! Aussie laws are TOUGH!
Very cruel to cancel the old criminals visa. Poor guy just wants to see his children. He's paid his debt to society plus it was forty years ago.
He also LIED about being a felon the first time he entered the country, and he overstayed his visa last time as well. Who knows what he plans on doing the next time.
@@redgringrumboldt8983So he should have carried on lying? Great idea ...
I bought my family a house, the result is I have not been able to say a word to my children for more than 4 years.
Australian law supports, encourages and is geared towards alienation of fathers.
Even if the passengers are remorseful they always cancel them visas I never expect anyone who enters that room being granted entry they all get sent back
Did he say40years ago he robbed a bank? Granted he should have been truthful, but it's easy to understand his embarrassment. Such a shame.
How does one collect pension in Australia but doesn’t speak English at all?
The grandfather doesnt seem to get that he lied on his last application which made the granting of the previous visa invalid and then he overstayed his cancelled visa by 2 and a half years. It does indicate that he doesn't respect for Australian migration law which I expect is not that much different from UK law.
Yeah, I get it and I appreciate the dilligence of the staff. That said, I would never be able to do what they do. Too much of a softie. I would have let the guy in to see his grandchild. This is being said by a former U.S. Marine who saw combat in Vietnam and also served as a paramedic in New York. Guess it all ultimately made be softer, not harder. :)
Your children can come to you….
So nice of AU to judge ppl that paid their debt to society. They have no right to stick their noses up at them.
They let the druggies in, and the plant smugglers, yet deny an elderly man admittance. Not good. Do you think he’s going to rob another bank???
Those people have a residential status in Australia and thus not considered a foreigner. They have to return to their homes in Australia and then are either fined or prosecuted by Australian law. The UK person has no status in Australia so he is subject to being denied entry.
Bank robbery is worst crime in Australia we call arm robbery
He was ashamed to ask for help so robbed a bank and got caught 😂 some logic that
The grandfather violated Australia's immigration law, and gets mad at the immigration officer for the cancelation. He lied about a past criminal conviction, he had a visa overstay (and he most likely worked during that overstay), and he doesn't accept responsibility that his actions brought about this result.
The British created Australia with their convicts!… He should’ve been allowed in to see his family!
His actions? If he'd kept on lying he'd have got in!
@@aheat3036 I am aware of Australia's penal colony history.
@@John-G I doubt it.
@@mskayla7747 Why not? He'd have had a three year ban for the overstay which would have expired, so if he'd just carried on lying about his criminal conviction 40 years ago why would he have even been stopped?
Edit: all this does is encourage people to lie and keep on lying.
Mind-numbingly short-sighted.
2nd edit: alternatively he could have decked the smug immigration officer, been charged, and then he'd have been able to see and hold his grand-daughter.
The English man. Feel sorry for him for just being convicted 40 yrs ago and lied of his conviction...no entry....sad😢
Surprised that the ex-bank robber used the word "disgrace." You are the one who decided to cross the line 40 years ago. You may want to forget about it but society will not because it's an indication of the type of person you really are.
ausi border bloke proving honesty is wasted on them
Exactly - he's effectively on camera telling people to lie!
Ironic when a penal colony denies entry to a criminal.
oh they r so wrong for not letting that man in. maybe they cut some of the conversations out, but ive seen on previous episodes where they allow people to come in due to familial reasons, and give them like 30 days or so, passport has a notice they must return home within that set time limit, etc.
yes he’s lied previously, but again, for morally valid reasons- should he be questioned and interviewed? yes. but not allowed? no.
