Why Flying Ryanair Is Worth It🤩

  • Here’s why I choose to fly @ryanair🫣
People love to hate on Ryanair but honestly how can you complain about a €10 or €20 ticket? Even if they’re more expensive, let’s say €100, odds are their competitors will be at least 2 to 3 times more. There’s no way I am paying that much more for a free bottle of water and the ability to say I don’t fly Ryanair😂🤦‍♂️ In most cases, I can add an extra legroom seat, a meal, airport priority, and still pay less than I would to fly their full-service competitors.
As someone who grew up in a secondary city, I am also really grateful for Ryanair because they opened up a ton of routes that wouldn’t have been operated by any other airlines. They, more than any other European airline, contribute to connecting this part of the world🇪🇺
If you are one of those people who refuses to fly Ryanair (but not just because of pride), I’d love to hear why in the comments🤓

I fly them occasionally and the experience has improved since they ceased harassing customers in-flight with scratch cards and vodka bags etc. The biggest downside is the absence of a jetway in wet weather, combined with their habit of “boarding” passengers into stairwells or outdoor holding pens just to clear the gate.

Ryanair is fine, if the airports suit and you need no frills. When you do add on priority etc to take a cabin bag, sometimes it can be cheaper to just fly BA. I was a frequent flyer from London to Dublin for 4 years. I can't speak for other routes but that's my experience.

As an immigration agent in Dublin once told me recently, "if everything is running smoothly, Ryanair is grand. If ANYTHING goes wrong... good luck."
This summarizes it well for me - yes, you can save money, which is great. However, if you have any delays or cancellations, get caught in a long security line and miss your flight, have a lost bag, need to rebook your flight, etc, good luck. You'll be completely abandoned under the excuse of absolute minimum service, even when something isn't your fault. Just look at what they did during the pandemic; some people booked flights that they couldn't end up taking because of last-minute pandemic movement restrictions that barred them from getting to the airport, and Ryanair refused to refund these passengers - and when those passengers then tried to get their money back through their credit card via chargebacks, Ryanair put those passengers on a blacklist and refused to let them fly with Ryanair again until they had paid the airline back. Sheesh.
Ryanair serves a purpose - but for peace of mind, if I have any another reasonable option, I'll avoid them. There's something to be said about being treated like a human being when dealing with a company, and I've found that while airlines like Lufthansa, KLM, etc are far from perfect, they generally do try to help you out when something goes wrong and have more established protocols in doing so.

I flew with them a couple of times and what I noticed was that they were regularly an hour late and constantly tried to sell you something, like they went down the isle selling something four times during an one hour flight. You also get to take less weight with your luggage and they're not as generous with cabin bags that are a bit big. The food situation is the same since British airways stopped handing out snacks for free (went from three snacks over two to one to none in less than a year), but you can just get a meal deal before boarding as well as cheap water, which I highly recommend. Prices depend on time though, not airline. If you book early, prices are low, if you book a day before, you'll pay 4x as much no matter the airline. I once paid 170€ for a one hour Ryanair flight because it was an emergency and on the next day

When we were finally at the gate (our luggage with knifes, fluets etc had to go through security), the Ryanair staff smiled at us and closed the gate door right in front of us.
Refusing to react to our knocking and other actions to get their attention.
Then we had to leave the security area again, but with nobody speaking english or german (or our native language) at security that was a hassle as well. In the and we had to make a scene to get to someone speaking a language we speak as well. Just for them to tell us Ryanair does that more often.

It’s the cheapest way to fly around Europe, however things that have happened since I started using them include making you purchase a seat, reducing the size of your carry on luggage to the point you have to buy extra luggage which often costs more than your flight, so sometimes it ends up being more expensive than some of its competitors which defeats the object. There is less leg room on their planes which if you are 6”4 like me can be a little uncomfortable. All in all 2015 to 2017 was peak Ryanair for me, I could fly to and from Germany with luggage and for less than a semi local regional train ticket in the UK. I started to feel dizzy and sick short after we reached the flight height. I asked the fly attendant for purchase of a bottle of water, as I knew that Ryanair would never give you even a drop for free. Even if I told her, that I'm feeling dizzy and sick, I received the reply that I have to wait my turn after they will start the on-board service in 15 min. The passenger next ti me gave me his water as I was in risk to faint. I flew with them for eight years regularly, but since then never more.

All I can say, is that a couple weeks ago I flew from Derry to Manchester to Eindhoven and back again with Ryanair.
EVERY flight had at least a half hour delay. And we were stuck o the plane. Every flight was scheduled to be on time. I'd say the whole delay time added up was like 6, 7 hours.
And they lied to us. The first flight had a bird strike okay, but they didn't tell us for about an hour. They knew the plane had a birdstrike and they didn't tell us. Its just such a difficult airline.

I’ve never flown with them, but they’re the most honest airline when it comes to pricing.
They continue to show us that flying really *isn’t* an expensive affair and that we’re getting price-gouged by other airlines and especially the airports, when making use of their amenities like baggage handling or jetbridges/stairs.
Hence the deployable stairs AND their restrictive baggage policy!

I had a very bad experience here in RyanAir. I booked a flight at 7am, at 5am, I was already in the airport and the line for checking in is very very long. They also said that they will open the desks at 730am (past my flight). The online checking in didn't work, except only for booking a "first class". I was forced to pay double the price, and when I got in, we were only 7ppl on board.
Food was not that good as well.

They don't take responsibility for cancelations! I've had 2 occurrences with them about cancelations. The first one was in Venice where there were bad storms so they kept delaying the flight until it got cancelled and then sent us to a 4 star hotel which you might say was nice of them since they payed. But the next flight going to where in the UK I was going wasn't for 2 days after the first flight was cancelled. We had to fight them to make them pay another night at that 4 star hotel and in the end they did. The second time was a changeover and they changed the time of the second flight from an hour and a half to leave to 30 minutes to leave after the first flight landed and they wouldn't let us get a refund so we had to try and catch it. The delay for the first flight wasn't their fault since it was the air traffic control strikes but we missed the plane probably by a minute so we had to sleep in the airport and the next flight wasn't until 2 days so we were stuck in France with no help.
