Its weird bc I love Skip, Shannon, and SAS even after everything. But its so ironic for SAS considering how he did Max Kellerman and then is going to pretend to be some huge savior for Shannon. Regardless i love first take and I love the new Undisputed but this does rub me a lil wrong. Like SAS acting holier than high heaven and coming to Shannon defense while he did the exact same thing to his previous colleague.
He showed his true colors when Jeremy Lin came around. He admitted that he is only for empowering black folks and doesn't give a d*mn about other folks whether white or other minorities that don't have nearly as much of a voice REGARDLESS of talent. He's a mirror image of the thing he's fighting. That hypocrisy is where it gets sad. I used to like him. Even got on one of his shows as an audience member in NYC after work waay back in 2005/06 or so. It wasn't until Linsanity that I understood what he stood for. Narrow minded bs. What he doesn't understand is yes, you absolutely back the folks in black communities and talent. But you can also back those that don't have a voice from other communities as well... And there's no reason to crush those with talent and charisma who bring in strong ratings. That's just being bitter. A bad sport. Little. That's when I lost respect for him.
SAS and Max was the best duo so far on first take. There is no question about it

Everybody was trying to one-up each other on the moral high ground that night, and everyone dogpiled on that tweet without even reading it properly. Skip has done and said some bad things but that tweet was not one of them.

Huge mistake by the bosses at FS1 by not at least getting to build a personal rapport with Shannon, especially considering how valuable he was to Undisputed's success. When you're in a leadership role, you gotta have that connection with your stars (and everyone under you, ideally) so they feel they can come talk to you if issues arise

Truth is Shannon made that show. I respect him for the way he conducted himself not only in this instance, but in past ones as well. The show is not the same without him.
the real truth is, as shannon himself admits, without Skip and Undisputed Shannon would still be unknown to all non-sports fans. Think about it for a minute, we're all sports fan, especially football, so of course we know Shannon Sharpe. But outside of football he had no presence so the average person had no chance of knowing him. Skip has been a name synonymous with sports media for nearly 3 decades. He gave Shannon the biggest platform in the game to become a household name and star. Shannon said he was so unknown outside of football, that even the younger generations of casual fans had no idea who he was because until recently tight ends werent as famous as start receivers and quarterbacks. Skip is a fool but Shannon is the first to praise him every time for giving him his current career by demanding Shannon when the executives didnt want him.

The crazy thing is that I had a totally different view of this. I saw Shannon's value, how good he was...I couldn't imagine any executive that knows what they are doing letting him go. Also in the event someone let him go, he would be fine because he was on fire at the time. I guess fox didn't see it that way. They should have found a way to keep Shannon. I don't think they realize what they had.
The most eye-opening part is FS1's bosses didn't have a relationship with Shannon, explaining the buyout instead of finding another spot for him. I get that Skip and Colin Cowherd were the heavyweights getting FS1 off the ground but it seems shortsighted to let Shannon go to their competitor.

Pretty sure him walking out on the boss is how it happened. Also the outrage at Skip's tweet never sat right with me. It felt forced because not only did he clearly mean no ill will, immediately afterwards the football world was debating on if there should be a neutral site.

Y’all sit with me on this… I get Shannon and understand him, here’s why I get confused about all of this.

I have been wanting Shannon to leave Skip and join Stephen A for years. Especially after Skip disrespected him. Big kudos to Stephen A for reaching out to him and bringing him in. He has been a fantastic addition to the First Take crew. I hope Shannon's role at ESPN expands beyond First Take. Perhaps appear in Get Up or some of the other shows as well.
Nick Wright has best takes in the game today. Most thought out. Sometimes he needs to put the pom poms away but it is what it is. I would love Shannon and Nick wright at a desk together. My dream duo.

I just feel like Shannon is slowly getting overshadowed. It feels like a honeymoon in first take. But what will happen after the honeymoon is over is the question. Hopefully it gets better.

Skip was the one who took the chance to develop another person that had a possible future in the business. This is the thing with Baseless, he’ll give you a chance like he has done with SAS and Shay, but he expects you to not chastise him while he chastises the hell out of you.
There’s a reason why Skip is one of the most hated journalists in the biz.

I will say that over the years, I've had my questions about SAS, but I must say, SAS is a real one for looking out for Shay Sharpe... Gotta respect that...
Hes not looking out for unc. Hes doing whats best for himself and the show. Shannon Sharpe was by far the best guy on the market and it would have been foolish to not get him on first take
