I remember that day. It was hard for me to watch. Here are two friends, equally passionate about the world of sports. But Skip put Shannon down so that he could raise up Tom Brady. And that costed Skip his friendship with Shannon.
Skip when you were hired at FS1, you were one of the cornerstones of FS1 along with Colin. You had unlimited freedom that you got from bosses, you also picked which guests that were coming on for your show and you had full creative control, etc. If FS1 were gonna make any big decision, in this case firing Shannon Sharpe, they would've definitely came to you, and they probably did. If you wanted him to stay, he stays, and FS1 would've given him the contract extension. Clearly you had a say in this, but again you want to make yourself be the victim in every situation instead of owning up to your mistakes and admitting that you have a huge ego. The thing is, Skip disrespected Shannon and it was for all to see. Shannon is a prideful man, and should be and that stung him more than it might have others. Personally I would think that after such a thing they should have been able to work things out better, but that's on Skip too he isn't able to put himself in Shannon's shoes and understand why he was so upset. Things worked out great for Shannon though and as much as Skip would like to disagree, he is getting old both physically and in his perspectives and he should be ramping things down at his age, no matter how young he may feel.

Definitely not saying that he couldn't benefit from working on himself. He basically has used all of his suffering to fuel his success at the expense of emotional intelligence. I feel that Dan quite poignantly points this out to him several times (in the full interview) and he kind of shrugs and agrees and says "yeah, there could be something there". Hard to tell if Skip was gaslighting in those moments or if he was genuinely conceding. 🤷🏽

Here are two friends, equally passionate about the world of sports. But Skip put Shannon down so that he could raise up Tom Brady. And that costed Skip his friendship with Shannon.
Skip when you were hired at FS1, you were one of the cornerstones of FS1 along with Colin. You had unlimited freedom that you got from bosses, you also picked which guests that were coming on for your show and you had full creative control, etc.
If FS1 were gonna make any big decision, in this case firing Shannon Sharpe, they would've definitely came to you, and they probably did. If you wanted him to stay, he stays, and FS1 would've given him the contract extension. Clearly you had a say in this, but again you want to make yourself be the victim in every situation instead of owning up to your mistakes and admitting that you have a huge ego.
Also Skip, deep down you know that you took a personal shot at Shannon because you were jealous of Shannon that he was becoming more popular than you could've imagined and your ego couldn't handle the fact that he was carrying you on the show, and the viewers didn't really respect nor gave the credit that you thought you would get lool. 🤣
