I will follow Joe Jackson to any musical place he takes us! He is a true chameleon and I am so happy that he is introducing us to the talent of Max Champion!!! What A Racket!
I love how you say "he is introducing us to the talent of Max Champion". His personas are so fully encompassing that you DO pretty much feel like Max is his own guy. And honestly, I like any Joe fan who says (like you do) "I will follow him to any musical place he takes us". I know the phrase is overused, but I have always said that Joe is a musical genius & I truly believe that. I don't think there is another musician alive today who has quite as much talent, diversity & TRUE love of music that Joe has. What I found particularly interesting about this show was that Joe himself TRULY seemed to be having more fun than I have ever seen him have on stage (and I have seen him probably 10-12 times, if not more). He was all smiles & that's cool, especially for someone who is supposed to be aging, although I just simply don't see it. 🤷🏻♀️💖
Just saw this live and it was absolutely amazing. They got a standing ovation. If you see Joe touring with this please go see it. You will not regret it!
I just got back from his show in Phoenix. The Max Champion second half did not disappoint, as the band were all dressed in 1910 clothing and they were acting the part as well. The first half did not include my two favorites (Down to London and Hometown), but I was still very happy with the whole evening. It was nice to see his sense of humor on display.
Love it, great historical background! British musicians like Freddie Mercury, Paul McCartney, and others introduced me to music hall style compositions. I'm intrigued to hear this new album!
You have to be open-minded, but I think most Joe Jackson fans are, don't you agree? It is not like anything else he has done, but we all know this is not the first time Joe has taken us to a different place musically. I'm not a big jazz fan (sorry folks, I'm always embarrassed to admit that, esp bc I come from a family of musicians & I'm the only one who is not a big jazz fanatic) but I loved the Duke album & found it particularly wonderful bc I was able to take my mother (in her 80s) to the Duke tour & she's a huge jazz fan. As we were leaving the venue she said "I knew every single song!" & then I realized that he did mostly Duke & older stuff that my mother knew from when I was still living at home. I said "you heard this music every day of my life when I was living at home & the rest of it was a musician who you also love - there was nothing there for you not to enjoy". She couldn't have been more happy that she finally got to see Joe Jackson. She died 2 years later, so I couldn't have been more pleased that I finally got to take her to a JJ show. While I was at the Max Champion show all I could think of was how much my mother would have loved it - having taken her to the Duke show it was a lot easier to get over the fact that I wasn't able to enjoy this one w her.
Hello earMUSIC 🙂 I wonder if some concerts are already programmed outside USA ,as I live in France, and would be delighted to attend one of those shows. Thank you 🤗 and wish you a happy 2024 🥰🌈
Isn't that what everyone's expecting? That's the new album, I would hope people expect to hear it. I thought it was AMAZING- so much fun. And he didn't do just 80s w solo stuff - he did 2000s & 90s as well. Did you enjoy it? I thought it was beautifully done.
@@LordGreystoke seriously? You came to this thread to say THAT about Joe Jackson? What exactly is 'self-indulgent' about it? How many answer songs are in this album? 1. This is an answer album to Mary Lee Kortes' BEULAH ROWLEY which JJ worked on. 2. As mentioned in another comment, BISHOP & ACTRESS answers to SUNDAY PAPERS 3. Excellent show at The Egg in Albany tonight. Utterly charming. GO. SEE.
Absolutely brilliant.
Been listening on repeat! Dear Old Mum and Monty Mundy are real ear worms
The Sporting Life is my ear worm, personally, but they all have a bit of an earworm quality, don't they?
What a show!

Now I have the answer to my question 😊 For France, the show will take place in Paris ,at La Cigale,on September 30th.I bought my ticket today 🥰🌺🌸💐🌈
Heads up for those expecting 80’s music at his 2024 tour. You’ll get about 45 min of 80’s on the piano and then an hour of 1910 London pub songs.

What a racket this is!
Glenmorangie at the back! Love this guy from the first moment I saw him in Paradiso Amsterdam 1980 or so.
The Bishop and the Actress…now where have I heard that before?
Shh… 😂
Obviously, everyone here knows, you can read it in the Sunday Papers.
That was my first thought 😂 @@kevino8943

What she said...😂
The great Joe Jackson he can do no wrong.
Clever stuff!
I'm so looking forward to seeing you in Amsterdam Joe
Well said! Seen him at Leicester, brilliant 👏

Yes !!❤
It’s a brilliant album , roots of the Kinks Madness Ian Drury …. Hopefully Joe will take it on the road .
He is!

Reminds me of Ian Anderson's story about young Gerald Bostock (Thick as a Brick ;-))?

not fooled for a minute. But it’s fun. Better than Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppns. 🎉
So is Max a real person or a character created by Joe Jackson? Is this like a “Spinal Tap” thing?
