Mass Effect 2, 3 and even Andromeda were amazing and made me travel in this universe. But Mass Effect 1 is far beyond this when speaking about immersion and exploration
I agree, the citadel felt real with all the goings on. I'm still finding little things I never noticed before when I play through it all over again. The exoplanets were dull though, but damn it did feel pretty good going to some of those odd worlds to just drive around. But the thing that made the game so good was definitely the music.

@@dubstepXpower I'd maybe read about it or watch it depending on your preference. I 100%ed and can honestly say there's only a couple things that feel like classic Mass Effect, despite how they try to echo the imagery of the original trilogy. You won't be satisfied til you play it yourself imo lol
This theme has stuck with me since I first heard it. It gives off that otherworldly space vibe so well. I Wish i could experience Mass Effect for the first time all over again.
I still play Mass Effect 1-3 on a regular (daily) - I just cannot play ME3 single player, so I do the Multiplayer. Something about this universe (the MEU) just grabs you.
Sweet memories! Stopping by the Citadel to buy and sell weapons and armor. It was always a nice day when I got more Frictionless Material X for my Spectre Req gear.
it is been almost 12 years since the game came out... and still I remember this song as if it was yesterday... thanks for the upload Gaming Ambience...
Jesus, I've watched every one of these 1 hour ME1 ambience music videos, and NONE of them hit me as hard as this one did in the nostalgia. God Bless You!
It's cause it had amazingly atmospheric electronic, synth based bgms like this which really created a futuristic spacey vibe. The latter games largely had orchestral based music, which wasn't awful but they just weren't as memorable as the music from ME1. Every AAA game now tries having epic sounding orchestral music, but they just sound like scores from a b-level hollywood movie. The music in ME2 and ME3 could have been in a Halo game. Where as the music in ME1 was unique
@@ZanzibarBreeze exactly, thats why I for example rate ME1 a lot higher than the sequels, the vibe/atmosphere is the most important thing in a sci fi production imo and bioware pulled it off perfectly
@@wellthismachinekills3809 Ah, I didn't even notice that you posted it 2 years ago but I am glad to hear that! I'm currently replaying the trilogy these days.
Sincere statement: I do enjoy the soundtrack for Mass Effect. Excited yet anxious anticipation: I cannot wait for the remastered edition if the trilogy.
I've never played Mass Effect 3. I played Mass Effect 2 once and thought it was good, but not for me. But I absolutely love the original Mass Effect. I've played it over and over and over. I wish we had got a sequel to that game.
ME 2 Is arguably the best in the series. The writing, expansion of the first game's narrative into darker, more grey themes, the environmental storytelling, characters, lore, music and the main mission itself all combine to form a totally believable universe. The sub plots within ME2 are excellent. ME3 is an enjoyable game, you're strapped in for the ride - many of your decisions and choices from the first and second entries wrap up in the third game. Minus the ending, its also a classic. IMO ME2>ME1>ME3. But even so I think I'd rate the first game more just for nostalgia and a kind of "innocence" that it portrays. You should definitely give it another go, pick up MELE and have another try.
@@toko96 It's funny, many of the things you mention liking are things I really didn't like. The writing and the attempt at darker themes left me cold, and I especially disliked the pivot to more orchestral music, which I found monumentally disappointing after the amazing synth focused soundtrack of the original. The game just never felt to me like a sequel to what I liked about the original, more like a "dark" gritty reboot. It had none of the throwback 70s science fiction vibes that the original had, instead pivoting to more generic military science fiction. I know my view isn't the usual one though, and most people love it.
idk what they put in that game but ive never been more engaged and transfixed by a sci fi setting as much as i have with mass effect. the memory of wandering the citadel for hours is locked in my brain. it really felt real
This theme always makes me think of the docking area where all of the refugees are shacking up in Mass Effect 3. I always liked how this area along with others on the Citadel evolve as you progress through the main story. You gradually see this area fill up with more desperate people and their families all looking for safe refuge and waiting (some seemingly in vain) to hear word from their loved ones. The wounded and dying all cramped together in close quarters. This track is kind of a calming, but somber accompaniment to everything that's happening around me. You finally begin to see that the Citadel can't just pretend that there isn't a war on anymore. Ahh man... the feels...
The Citadel to me will always me the ME1 Citadel. We are on the cusp of greatness, working along with Turians and the Council, Krogan and Quarians and even the Asari. In Bring Down the Sky we met the Batarians. What an age to live in!
Interesting to think that of those reading my message between the years 2013 to 2029, you all has to wait for the complete remaster of this triology to experience it in HTD “hyper threaded High Definition. While we never experienced the smell physical properties of the game as you know it, we still were extremely touched by it all these years ago.
first time i got to Citadel, i was so excited and talked to every NPC possible to learn about the lores. Soon something felt off, the music and atmosphere and the fact that some questions you ask the NPCs don't get clear answers especially regarding those little janitor robots. Later on you know it was created intentionally to feel this way, great design from the Game Designers.
Having just got the platinum trophy for this game, I am so fond of this theme. Took me forever to find and scan all the keepers, I’m glad the music was so calming as I jogged around.
best sci fi franchise, right there next to star wars/trek/gate, which makes sense since the same guys also made some of the best star wars material ever as well. My respect for the old bioware team is absolutely unmatched, they did for the gaming world what george lucas did for cinematography. I literally had a save on mass effect that i used (so i wouldnt mess up my actual play time) to literally just sit in c sec and listen to this music while i took naps in RL.
Wasn't a fan of how ME3 reused so many tracks from the first 2 games but I have to say the use of this track in the refugee camp was pretty inspired. What was once a theme that represented humanity's bright future is now contrasted by the dire state the galaxy is now in. Seeing all those people living out of shipping containers unsure of what will happen to them with this playing in the background was pretty impactful.
I’m on my first PC run of the Legendary Edition and trying to do a 100% Perfect run in terms of collectibles, missions, choices etc. I’m currently on ME2 about to fight the Collectors and heard this in my Cabin Radio and it seemed SOOOO nostalgic…
Huge thanks for posting this. The Atrium's soundscape might as well be a part of the story-line. Much like Tron legacy, it generates a sense of place without which the imagery would be hollow
This really Feels like you're in outer space. 😇 You can see nebula, clusters, but the thick glass on the citadel renders it all silent. 😇 Time to board the Normandy commander Shepard.
I vibe so much with all the comments about the effect of this game and series on me. I also was going through a rough time and a rough breakup when i bought the legendary edition with all 3 games. I was never a sci-fi kid even though i was surrounded by people who loved this game and star wars and such. But i started playing this and soent like 10 hours just exploring the citadel. So much fun man. The whole series and the suspense of the story and writing was so much appreciated too. We dont have enough games like this anymore.
Some times I'd just stand around look at humans and other species intracting with each other. It gives me a wyrd melancholy hope for a futre I likely will not see.
Mass effect 1 is the best out of all three games by far. I love them all but because the story shifted away from dark energy buildup and the reapers thinking human DNA was the best thing to make a reaper out of just for that it kind of makes mass effect 2 feel like a side quest. In the third game non of that matters anymore because the reapers are just trying to keep synthetics from wiping out all organic life. But I still love all three games the first one has a special place in my heart though. I love exploring the galaxy and driving around on different planets. I also love the fact that you have a dangerous villain like saren that you have to chase down and defeat in the first game.
When your soul aches for a world you'll never know, and a hand you'll never hold....you might be palying some quality bioware games. I hope the remaster is just as wonderfully immersive as the original trilogy.
You do realize that ME2 and 3 are almost completely unchanged, right? This means that you will be paying for the ME3 endings not once, but twice - AND there will be no ME3 Multiplayer (the only reason to purchase ME3). I might get the legendary edition when the price is right and only play ME and ME2 - maybe. I pre-ordered ME3 like an idiot and got the "Day 1" DLC, which was content that was cut, removed, and re-installed simply to drive up profits. I'm very jaded about ME3 and all post ME2 content from BioWare.
@@tonycmac Only now seeing this comment FFS... Yes, I love Noveria's soothing snowy ambience also. Upper wards are ok. Another piece of absolute magic is the Galaxy map theme 😃
@@Johny40Se7en The Citadel Upper Wards (near the market and the big window where you can see the Citadel Arms/Wards) are simply incredible to me. I loved the part where you can watch the Destiny Ascension glide past and hear the Volus talking about his tour onboard and meeting Matriarch Ladanya. I do love the Galaxy Map as well, and lets not forget Ilos. :)
Man ME may be my favorite sci-fi franchise honestly, it's close with Star Wars. It's just so magical yet one of the more feasible high sci-fi settings I've seen. That combined with the amount of lore Bioware dedicates to their games makes it so immersive that I want to live in that universe so bad. I'd even be willing to take my chances with reapers haha
@DrumToTheBassWoop ...perhaps. Liara may be my favorite and I may also be currently writing fan fic in a composition notebook at night before I go to sleep lol it takes place on Illuim. At least for now, thinking of taking the protagonist who used to have a asari gf (not Liara) to somewhere in the Ismar frontier based off plot events so far. Neon architecture and massive landscapes fill my view. I’m home and feel eager to learn more about a city with many secrets. Hope I don’t sound weird.
I hear you. I grew up imagining our world would keep getting better and be like this by 2020. Here we are, and I do wish we can live in that timeline instead of this shit.

I always wanted a spin off game. Working as c-sec or undercover or anything. The whole game could have been about being on the citadel and I would have been there for it 100%. Too late now of course. But when you make a gigantic expansive universe: use it!
Yeah I turned it off a lot back then because I didn't want to flood peoples sub-boxes. Foolish of me but I have since changed due to requests from people asking me to leave it on, at least ones I feel people would want to see over ones that aren't so popular or memorable. Having the Atrium not go on notify subs was a huge mistake :/
I’m playing the trilogy for the first time. I beat the first game yesterday and i loved it although it was clunky. I’m up to the 2nd and in terms of combat it’s fun but i noticed when i went to the citadel there was no ambience music like in the 1st at all smh. This theme is iconic
Always wished I could share this game with someone. Well, sucks leaving things behind but some things are doing well with or without the support of the useless.

Same vibes as DA2, some good ideas but the execution is kinda bland/vapid and there wasn't a cohesive vision tying it all together. If you're a superfan tho, no harm in dipping your toes in. You won't be satisfied til you play it yourself imo lol
Exploration in me1 was horrible tho 😅
Ride on a badly generated ground
This theme has stuck with me since I first heard it. It gives off that otherworldly space vibe so well. I Wish i could experience Mass Effect for the first time all over again.
I still play Mass Effect 1-3 on a regular (daily) - I just cannot play ME3 single player, so I do the Multiplayer. Something about this universe (the MEU) just grabs you.
I wish i could live in a ME universe....
53 more days until the remaster comes out
Jesus, I've watched every one of these 1 hour ME1 ambience music videos, and NONE of them hit me as hard as this one did in the nostalgia. God Bless You!
"I am commander sheppard and this is my favorite theme of the citadel"
This music was so fitting for the first game. A human soldier going to the heart of galactic /futuristic civilization for the very first time.
The music in ME1 had more immersion than the entirety of the remainder of the games.... Its exquisite.
@@kordianisko Mass Effect (the original game) is a future I would love to live in. The game grabs you in a way that is hard to explain.
It's weird that the developers didn't think of this as super important but this just feels so amazing
My god I love the soundtrack for this game.
My god I love you..
I love everything in this, including the elevators and the mako.
@@erikerrikson9008 Best part about ME1
For some reason I always wanted a job as a C-sec Officer
I need a detective game where you play as a C-Sec Officer
Shoulda been DLC
I'd love to live in the world of Mass Effect as a C-Sec officer. Well, I'd love to live in the Mass Effect world as anything
@@MajorKirrahe Thanks to your reply, I rediscovered this video and was surprised to see so many people felt the same.
Well, ME and ME2 anyhow. I refuse to buy ME3 until it is fixed.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition got officially announced this past weekend! I'm so excited!
It was an excellent experience remastered
Royberg it’s the little details, man!
Very good perception 👍
Interesting to think that of those reading my message between the years 2013 to 2029, you all has to wait for the complete remaster of this triology to experience it in HTD “hyper threaded High Definition. While we never experienced the smell physical properties of the game as you know it, we still were extremely touched by it all these years ago.
Ahhhh nothing beats the Citadel of ME1! Everything about it was absolutely great, even the elevators!
first time i got to Citadel, i was so excited and talked to every NPC possible to learn about the lores. Soon something felt off, the music and atmosphere and the fact that some questions you ask the NPCs don't get clear answers especially regarding those little janitor robots. Later on you know it was created intentionally to feel this way, great design from the Game Designers.
brighter warmer days
Having just got the platinum trophy for this game, I am so fond of this theme. Took me forever to find and scan all the keepers, I’m glad the music was so calming as I jogged around.
Such atmospheric and beautiful composition. Damn, how I love the mass effect.
"Every time I come to the Citadel C-Sec brings me down here for a friendly chat."
This is the best music in the Mass Effect series.
this tune sounds like success, not sure how to describe it, it's like the calm feeling after passing the final exam
best sci fi franchise, right there next to star wars/trek/gate, which makes sense since the same guys also made some of the best star wars material ever as well. My respect for the old bioware team is absolutely unmatched, they did for the gaming world what george lucas did for cinematography. I literally had a save on mass effect that i used (so i wouldnt mess up my actual play time) to literally just sit in c sec and listen to this music while i took naps in RL.
I loved KOTOR!
Lol, I have like almost 100 or more savegames in each of the 3 games with specific music/atmosphere spots of the games. 😁
In my heart, I never left the citadel.
I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite video on UA-cam.
0:53 best part
Yes yes. Good day, earth-clan.
I wish when I walked around everywhere, that theme music like this would just play ambiently in the background.
All hail the OG Citadel.
This tune gives me the most ME1 nostalgia
I think the nostalgia of the office environments in this game actually make me enjoy being a cubicle worker as an adult.
My favorite theme from the game always loved traveling to c-sec just to hear it.
this music is a source of power for me.
Amazing thank you for posting this
I feel like crying when listening to this theme
not with idiot liberals ruining everything
Playing the Mass Effect trilogy was more epic than watching Star Wars or Star Trek. The lore and all the planets were fantastic.
ME2 Captain cabin song always and forever to remember such a great song.
@@tonycmac jaded not even the right word. bitter is more like it 😂

Hit me right in the feels.
One of my favourite places in Mass Effect, next to the Ilos Archives. Mostly because of the music. Such a magical chill to it 🥰😊
Don't forget Citadel: Upper Wards and Noveria: Port Hanshan
@@tonycmac Only now seeing this comment FFS... Yes, I love Noveria's soothing snowy ambience also. Upper wards are ok. Another piece of absolute magic is the Galaxy map theme 😃
@@Johny40Se7en The Citadel Upper Wards (near the market and the big window where you can see the Citadel Arms/Wards) are simply incredible to me. Far better than the soundtrack version
Yeah that soundtrack was shit in comparison
@@feartheoldblood They overproduced the soundtrack version.
Be honest dude, you would take the first flight to Thesia won't you?
@@DrumToTheBassWoop it is my hope that one day man will reach the stars and find blue boobs
My first time writing and it's just for fun so idk the quality of it but it's something fun and relaxing to do. Especially at night under the stars while listening to this.
God I love this

I truly hope if I get reincarnated it’s around this time…when technology is so advanced a cyber city like this is what I live in (preferably in Japan)
I have a few coffees to wake myself up in the morning then look out to the horizon. Neon architecture and massive landscapes fill my view. I’m home and feel eager to learn more about a city with many secrets. Hope I don’t sound weird.
Not at all Field, not at all. I understand this feeling completely.
I hear you. I grew up imagining our world would keep getting better and be like this by 2020. Here we are, and I do wish we can live in that timeline instead of this shit.
Man I’ve been saying that for the longest ever since I got into the beauty of cosmos 🌌 our universe aka a thing majority of humanity just takes for granted for pretty much there whole life’s with out exploring and thinking out side of our little bobble planet
And also started playing a lot of space games like
mass effect trilogy
NMS
Megaton rain fall aka biggest space exploration game ever yet to be matched with the exploration
Star link
Elite dangerous
Or and Star ocean
Hell it’s a reason I love space anime so much
Like Star blazer battle ship Yamato
Like Gundam universal century
Like gurren lagann will the last 6 episodes that have to do with space my favorite part
Like knights of sidona
Hell even the reason I never hated the 180 twist in darling in the franxx unlike so many fans
But anyway because of all this learning about space
what will happen In 4.5 billion years to our two galaxys
What will happen in 5 Billion the sun
What will happen to the galaxy years after going over the cosmic horizon by the end
our galaxy will be the last galaxy in this local cluster
Learning about the laniakea supercluster
And learning about GOOGOLPLEX years and the end of all stars and heat
I want to die and be reborn when humanity is more in space 🌌 and colonies orbital elevators 🛗 and on other colony planets so badly
I'll open the rare stocks for you, Commander. Enjoy.
Pure wonder!

I always wanted a spin off game. Working as c-sec or undercover or anything. The whole game could have been about being on the citadel and I would have been there for it 100%.
Too late now of course. But when you make a gigantic expansive universe: use it!
No idea why this didn't appear in my sub-box. Anyway, nevermind, thanks for this, as always.
Are you sure? There was an outcry over this sort of thing from the largest youtubers earlier this year.
