Especially during Liara's gift to Shepard before the push on Earth in ME3. Many theorize that the memory she shares with you is her birth, or the beginning of her consciousness. I think that's fitting, because this piece, titled "Vigil," is used when Vigil informs Shepard about the Reapers and how to preserve life. And so, the last time we hear it, that being Liara's gift, I think it's fitting that it be during a moment that symbolizes the new beginning of life.

When vigil talks about the last protheans awakening from cryostasis and realizing that there weren’t enough of them to rebuild their species… with this music playing it always makes me emotional.

When I noticed the awesomeness of the combination of the visual and audio of the ME1 loading screen, I knew I was about to begin a mesmerizing enthralling experience like no other game could offer. The artistic quality of the soundtrack was so astounding and so nicely matching the visuals that I knew the production team had put their very best effort into this game.

That moment when, during the opening the dialogue wheel poped up for the first time and I was like... wait, wait WAIT.... THIS IS GAMEPLAY!!! The visual style was blending so nicely with the atmosphere and music I was sure it was still a cutscene. Truly the moment when I became a gamer. Also the final section from meeting Vergil to the end was so hype. I'm not sure if I've ever been more invested into a game.

Mass Effect was, in a word, magical. There was really nothing quite like it at the time. Could you believe that Elder Scrolls Oblivion came out a year before this?! It was just insane the difference was in storytelling, animations, and overall atmosphere. For its time it was in such a league of its own. Two sequels followed, the Bioware we knew is now gone, and even then I'm not sad it's over. I'm glad it ever happened.

I have only recently finished Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2, with all DLC. I am more than 2/3s in Mass Effect 3, with all DLC. Honestly, I cannot recollect myself. I don't, I really don't want the game to end! In my eyes, this trilogy cannot even be described in words, from every point of view possible. I am not a socially awkward person or introvert. I'm married, with kids, I have 3 bros for life. It's just that I grow attached to persons who gain my trust. It may sound stupid, but, that's what happened with the Mass Effect crew, universe, characters, story. It's almost like I can't let go. I still want to be on the Normandy, with all those great people by my side. I shed tears for Kaidan, Mordin, Thane and Legion. I look at Garrus, Wrex and Grunt and see my best friends, my 3 bros for life. And, the best part of it all, I look at Tali, Shepard's best romance, and I see my beloved wife. These games have become such a big part of me and I have played so many great games. I am a sucker for games with great stories. I just never thought Mass Effect would pull me in so, so much, making me miserable thinking about the characters and crewmen I have lost. I hate these games for that, but I absolutely adore them, regardless! It can't be described in words. I have just brokered peace between the Quarians and the Geth and I absolutely cannot decide what to do when the end choice comes. I look at the Reapers now and I am not sure everything is at it seemed in the beginning. This particular theme is the one which comprises the whole Mass Effect series simply perfectly. I am sorry for this long and, perhaps, weird comment, but, I have never played another game, read a book or watched a movie so intense and so good at messing with your soul and consciense. If some of you, Mass Effect players, feel this way, empty and sad, but, at the same time, happy and amazed of what you have acomplished during your experience, rest assured! You are not alone!
EDIT: One week later, I finished this fantastic trilogy and I am extremely grateful for this unparalleled experience, although very sad it had to end...

For me that would be little half-quarians, playing with each other outside our home on Rannoch, while Shepard and his friends from old days sit together in the garden, talking about the adventures of their past and how they showed the Reapers they were wrong, by working together. All alien races, bios and synthetics, overcoming predjudices and hate, reaching for the same goal. Not only did they save the galaxy that day. They were laying a foundation. A foundation that enabled their successors to closely work together to strife deeper into the universe. Travelling to other galaxies, noone has ever been before, and finding new adventures along the way...

I'm 15 years old and discovered Mass Effect at the end of the first quarantine we had in France. I have a passion for space since I was very young, maybe because my father and my two brothers always made me watch sci-fi and play video games. I love that, I was raised with that. But I never thought I would live something similar to Mass Effect in a video game before Mass Effect. This trilogy was recommended to me many, many times but I never had the courage to ask my parents to offer me the entire trilogy with the DLCs and stuff. That was only when one of my favourite streamers began a full let's play of the trilogy during the quarantine that I told myself to watch it, finally I had the chance to discover it without waiting.
I loved it. Even if I didn't play the trilogy this time I loved it, I remember waiting every evening the next stream of the let's play with so much hype for the story, the characters, the dialogues, the whole scenes... then I told a friend (he was originally a friend of one of my brothers, who stopped playing video games to focus on his biology studies a few years ago) how much I loved the trilogy, and I was very lucky that he had more than once the whole trilogy, so he gave me Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3 just like that, saying "there you have it, and welcome among the lovers of Mass Effect".
I played the trilogy. I loved the first, for a 2007 game, it was amazing. The second was wonderful, the characters insanely well-written, and I romanced Tali. Couldn't wait to play ME3, which is my favourite, that game was just greater than anything I played through my whole life.
I remember myself finishing my first playthrough of the trilogy. I, who love playing video games everyday, didn't touch my PC for 3 days after the end of ME3, and after 3 days, I decided to play the trilogy AGAIN !
After the second time, it was very hard but I wanted to focus again on working and other video games that don't take my whole brain for immersion. I kept hoping for the remastered version rumor I heard about during one of the streams I watched.
Almost 3 months ago, Bioware officially announced Legendary Edition and the next Mass Effect game. And here I am, I've got a plate of Tali in my room, a wallpaper of the Normandy on my PC, and I'm forcing myself to wait the Legendary Edition for playing Mass Effect again.
Mass Effect is my favourite video games trilogy ever. I discovered it when I couldn't see my friends, my country ordered quarantine when I was suffering a depression because of an important issue with a friend that expended on the others and that almost made me kill myself, and when I needed to take the time and discover new people, I played Mass Effect, and the level of interactions you can have with the characters in the game, their opinions about your actions, your choices, your responsabilities, made me think about my reactions in real life, what I did wrong, what the others did wrong. This trilogy cured me really, and that is why it will always have a place in my heart. If I have children someday, I'll have to make them play Mass Effect. It's not a game, it's an experience, it's the very proof that video games can be an art.
    This trilogy is legendary.

@@EliFarb I recently watched a let's play of The Last of Us and I've also been through the Halo series for the first time. I could tell about games I played when I was younger like Metroid, Starcraft or more recently Overwatch, or I could tell about games that are masterpieces for me like Dishonored (if you don't know it go watch a playthrough it's amazing), but nothing is like Mass Effect to me. I also played the Legendary Edition (twice, one time like the first time, and one time in max difficulty and with a vanguard femshep), also played Mass Effect Andromeda to make myself an opinion on it.
While Andromeda fells messed up, the trilogy is always insanely cool, the characters, the story, and the universe which is incredibly rich. As a sci-fi fan, I really, really appreciate the coherence of the ME universe.
I could tell so much more about how I love it, but it would take me too much time. xD

I know that most of the stuff I say comes from another comment but I just want to go out and say because I agree with that comment... I LOVE Mass Effect! I am a huge fan of sci-fi video games with aliens like Halo, Killzone, Destiny, and Gears Of War, and while I love all those games with my heart, none of them come even close to the raw emotion and awesomeness when it came to Mass Effect! I was at first scared of playing it because of making choices that affect you in the long run, but I played Mass Effect 1-Andromeda, and was a full-fledged Paragon with a dash of Renegade. All I did was play Mass Effect, it was Wake up- Go to school-Come back-Do homework-Mass Effect-Eat dinner-Mass Effect-Sleep-Repeat. It was such in incredible journey, I saved my squad on the Suicide Mission, defeated Saren, Kai Leng, and The Illusive Man, romanced Tali, and destroyed the Reapers, so Shepard lives, and spends the rest of his life with Tali on Rannoch. I also decided to play Andromeda, chose to be Sara Ryder, romanced Jaal, and I liked it, despite it’s obvious flaws and being nowhere near as great as the first three, I still really loved it! While I was sad that I finally finished the Mass Effect trilogy, I’ll still always remember the wonderful time I had playing it. And I can still always go back to it, so YAY! I know a lot of people just want to erase their memories just to go through the Mass Effect trilogy again, but I don’t want to forget. But for me, this game will always be something special. Everything about it, the storytelling, the crew, the soundtrack--there's absolutely nothing else like it. Doesn't matter if it's ten years into the future, not even twenty--we'll always find ourselves travelling back to this galaxy no matter what.

The nostalgia is hitting me so hard. When I first played this game I quickly realized how much of a masterpiece it was. I don't think any single player game ever had the same effect on me. I absolutely played the hell out of it - and when it was done, I went back and replayed it. End of an era, nothing will come out of the industry like this ever again. Some works of art are singular.

I just finished the trilogy yesterday. Hearing this again...it brings a tightness to my chest and a lump to my throat in a way no other piece from a game has. From starting with one these games were the only thing I'd play in my free time, I became one with the world, connecting to the people, the characters, and their struggles. I never got emotional in 1 and 2. I rarely do with any game at all. But this...when I touched down on Earth. When I had those final talks with Garrus, and Liara, and she gave me her gift, with this slowly, faintly, shortly playing in the background. I couldn't take it anymore. I cried like a fucking baby at my desk in the middle of the night. All of the emotion I'd felt over the trilogy flowing out in that moment because I knew it was all coming to an end. It was coming to an end and I didn't want it to. I wanted to keep going, I wanted to keep having hijinx with the crew, saving the galaxy. I wanted to see those little blue children. But at that point a part of me knew Shepherd wouldn't make it, and all of this would end. Then at the very end. After the Reapers were destroyed and everyone was safe, after the credits. I cried possibly the hardest I think I have in a long time during the Stargazer scene. But a part of me doesn't know why. I've seen more compelling films, more artistic works of art, and pieces of music. Yet. This. This series of three games broke me in the end. It's something I'll never forget. Something I'll always remember. Something I will always love.

Exactly my feelings when I was about to finish it and when I did. I didn´t want to leave MY ship behind. When I woke up the day after I finished, I wanted to go back to my crew on the normandy and go to some new system, experience more adventures. The thing that breaks me everytime I think about this game is that I will never live to see such adventures unfold, let alone be a part of it, save our galaxy, meet new species and become a legend among legends, a friend of the creatures of our known universe, travel through space, etc... At the same time this game made me feel like I did indeed experience all of this. It feels like I am a retired Shepard, I have travelled the stars, saved the universe and am now "damned" to live my day to day life, without being able to go out there again. If any alien council reads this, please take us in, we are ready for this galaxy.

I have regularly played the trilogy every year since I first played the trilogy back in 2013/2014, this song brings all of the best moments to mind, particularly squad member moments on the ship, whether I was romancing Tali, Garrus, Liara or Jack, Tali's singing during date night, Liara playing the piano, beach front property, seeing Liara again after two years on Illium, seeing Wrex again on Tuchanka, seeing Garrus on Omega, *this* menu screen back in funnily enough, May 24, 2013.
It has been quite a journey each time I play the trilogy, this song is my absolutely favorite over the entire series and I can't wait to hear it again when I play the Legendary Edition on May 14, 2021 next week.

Some you left behind, some you loved, and some you hurt. You think to yourself, "I can make this right" and start again.

@@jesusmclain6713 not really, I find ME2 to be pretty weak storywise. Of course, the gameplay was better, if simplyfied. The characters were all great (well, except Jacob). But overall, the story was on a small scale and the companion missions (And by extension all side missions) were microcosms that only affected Romance and the Suicide Mission. And Shepard doesn't get to grow as a character because of the fact he/she spends 2 years in what is essentially a coma, while his/her every squadmate was given space to grow. I feel like they had a great opportunity to flesh Shepard out, but they didn't take it. Don't get me wrong, I love ME2 just as much as ME1, but I can't ignore these issues. I think people give ME2 too much credit and seem to overlook the accomplishments of the first.

Filip Gryga ehh, but is it just me or is it a common thing to think of mass effect as a whole? Like the story is so fluid I don’t even think of it like Mass effect 1,2 or 3 I just think mass effect because the visuals and everything is so similar in every game. Take halo for instance when you think of halo you either think of 1,2 or 3 because of how different each game is but mass effect just seems to mesh together for me in terms of story, visuals and sound. Do you also feel this way?
