- Today we worked on Mer's Brother's Truck. Gunner needed lock up and a transmission rebuild. He left with a Billet Single disc, used billet input, and a Full Manual Valve Body with a ratchet shifter!

Need to swap mines as well on my d350 1991 dodge ram., the overdrive issue is a joke
Did nobody notice the splines on the input shaft twisted?
Yes it was a used shaft
Best and most expensive intro to a You Tube channel ever
lol!
I do 2 screws and use a curved claw hammer and work it a little on each side and they slide right out. But your way was intertaining
And I can reuse the old seal as an installer lay it again the new one and hammer on it son
Myer works in mysterious ways, I like the claw hammer method as well.
Good easy to follow im weighing my possible switch to manual valve body when I get trans built
They are so much fun!
Another great video ! Good job guys 👍🏻
Thanks for watching all the videos and commenting it really does mean a lot!
@@horsetorquesdiesel you’re welcome guys ! Keep up the good work 💪🏻
Cheers from France !
Subscribed so I have 84 ramcharger that is getting Cummins swapped with the 518 trans. Can that be swapped for the 47rh trans and run with out computer and use my stock shifter and full auto ? How much stronger is 47rh or the 518. Thank you !
check out the B&M stealth pro ratchet. i like those way better than the extra lever on the handle style.. just whack it forward or backwards to shift. it’s like bumping a paddle shifter. it all ways returns to center. had one in my roadrunner. they have the same pistol grip and you can run switches too in the handle.
I like the ratchet shift as well
They work good in racing but they are a pain to daily when you need reverse. If my trucks were only driven in competition i would be all over that!
@@horsetorquesdiesel the pro ratchet is super easy to hit reverse. one hand operation. i used to drive my roadrunner on the street all the time. i could flick the little lever with my two bottom fingers while still holding the shifter. if you run a trans brake lots of guys will just use the brake button while in neutral to back up.
@@horsetorquesdiesel i also had reverse manual valve body so reverse and first were on each side of neutral which was nice.
@@horsetorquesdiesel ua-cam.com/video/G4RkOGp9qSk/v-deo.html this guy has forward pattern but still all works the same. Reverse is just 2 bumps away from first if you have reverse pattern. i like reverse pattern as you pull back to go through 1/2/3 shift. i guess it’s all preference though. lots love the gated style vs the ratchet. i don’t like to have to think about pulling a lever or not on gated.
Say a guy was going to put a 12valve in place of his common rail with a 48re would the 2nd gen plate work?
I wouldn’t recommend it but you need the adapter plate for the 12v
Would love to see more first Gen content!
We may do some more on this truck in the future.
The odometer just stopped yesterday lmao
Exactly 😂
Excellent video! Warms the heart with the friends and family projects. Almost makes me want to do the swap on my 92 4x4. I'm guessing some other things have to happen to mate the first gen transfercase to the 47rh. Really like the plug you guys made, nice touch. That input shaft is pure gold.
Go for it! Not sure for the 4wd part maybe we will do one in the future. That input is a certified sender and a half.
@@horsetorquesdiesel i was waiting to see the locked 2-3 shifts during the test drive. Any draw backs to locking the converter in lower gears while towing?
Way cool guys, ill be doing this next summer, what I will be doing tho is making the non lockup 518 to a 47rh with some parts I have a 2nd gen parts truck so it just a matter of time. Thanks for the video!
Anytime thanks for watching!
Together, Myer and his Brother look like they can absolutely tow your house down the street in trade for 3 red bulls. Killer content!!
Yay 12 valve content!!!
Just for you!
@@horsetorquesdiesel Thanks buddy!!
Love the videos, thank you guys alot:)
Glad you like them!
I’ve been waiting for a video like this. I have an 89 with the 727 and wish I could find a 47rh to put in it
Not as hard as i thought it was going to be!
@@horsetorquesdiesel all I can find around me are the 47re’s. Maybe I need to expand my search area lol
The first generation are way cool 😎
They have their place!
I made a video doing this but with my 4x4 '92 if you need the info
Awesome video watched it!
@@horsetorquesdiesel Thanks man!
Great video! I’ve been wanting to do a 47 swap to my 92 4wd. Which is better the the RH or the RE?
Doesn’t matter if you want a Full manual Valve body if you want auto then an RH
@@horsetorquesdiesel I definitely wanna go fmvb so ya. Thanks!
the RH output shaft is significantly stronger
Great info, I"m planning on doing this to my first gen as well, finally nice to see what's actually different with the starters, I think I might be able to swap nose cones and gears from a dead 2nd gen starter onto my relatively new first gen starter body, it's currently running a well tuned up VE pump but it's going to get major upgrades soon, hence the need for getting rid of the slush-0-matic... Maybe I will do a FMVB in it...
I really want to FMVB my 06, basically for sled pulling reasons but........ cabbage is a little scarce right now😭
I feel that!
Great video Josh and Myer...how did you wire up the lockup?
Toggle switch in the shifter. 12V key on power to the center pin and 2 toggle switches that do grounds for lock up and overdrive.
I see you have the mechanics first aid kit: electrical tape and cloth or towel
I really enjoyed watching your Video, Very Informative!! I like how you guy's banter back and forth to each other. I have a 93 Dodge 4x4 pickup with an automatic, would that have the 518 Transmission too? And do you guy's have a Website or is it part of Power Driven Diesel??
Thank you! yes yours has a 518 transmission. This was a project Myer took on off the clock but PDD does sell full ready to install transmissions, just not the swap kits.
@@horsetorquesdiesel Thank you Josh!!
Will a 2nd gen adapter for for a 48 swap?
yes as long as it goes on a 12v/ 24v block.
@@horsetorquesdiesel thanks
So is a FMVB totally cool on a work/daily truck? I need it to “haul cows”
Absolutely, makes driving fun!
Looking to do a very similar swap into my 93 but I’ve got a 47re. Is it possible with a 47re or do I need a 47rh
Yes if you do it FMVB or with a stand alone controller.
@@horsetorquesdiesel I appreciate it thanks
If a full manual valve body is truly like a standard without a cluth why hasn't anyone posted a video of towing a loaded trailer or camper with one?
I literally have towed 32k gross over the continental divide in Colorado in a 1000hp 476 turbo truck with a FMVB. I tow all the time with them.
I have the 727 in my 91. Ive been debating on building the 727 and adding a Gear Vendors OD kit or doing a 47 swap. Whats your opinion ? Thanks!
