I know Mr. Lobo in person, I've seen his works & factory he is a very knowledgeable person the no nonsense type... The car companies should consider what Mr. Lobo has mentioned, most importantly the Indian Government should give some good benefits to the Electric vehicles buyers & manufacturers like in some European countries, encourage them instead of taking bribes and stopping other brands/companies to bring out better & cost effective products... We all should take responsibility in keeping our Planet clean and safe for the future...

Too good a review, how many years he has been driving, incredible and we still feel that do EVs work. Mahindra a lesson for you to ramp up , selling is not enough but service and happy customers do matter, hats off Zarryl Lobo sir
@@psd7721 A long story - I used to work in Mohali, Punjab, India during 2010 where one uncle riding EV and I was on LML Vespa scooter and we met at the red lights. I just inquired about and the lines he said inspired me - "Very good thing - the people who zoom the pickup speedily and overtakes meet me again at the next red lights" :) I was looking for a two wheeler for my Dad at my hometown which does not have very high pickup and environment friendly(no pollution in terms of air and sound). Thus the decision for EV and went for Hero Optima which had 25Km/hr speed limit and maximum 50 Km distance could be traveled in one charge. The first set of batteries went for two and half years and the 2nd set went almost 18 month where in 2013 did go for 2nd EV. On an average the batteries set gave 1.5 to 2 years backup. So to calculate the savings - if Rs 50 petrol daily - then 50x356 =18250 p.a. where 1.5 years it goes to 18250 + 9125 = 27375 INR. Thus if 10,000 INR invested in batteries after 1.5 years you can see the savings where as per company it consumes 1 unit for one full charge. Yes of-course, the repairing work was done by me and Dad at home as it had very less wear and tear due to less parts - only motor controller and batteries - thus that could also be calculated under savings.
This man is an pioneer in ev customer base .....Your ev experience sharing keep the people more informative about the possible small issues in ev owning (even that issues exists in petrol car but the media is paid hugely by petroleum giants)
Mr. Lobo is so right. It is moronic that Mahindra kept on increasing the size of their EV without improving the small little gem that Reva was. Reva is an ideal 2 person car. Hope Mahindra or Other car makers bring in one (or two) seater narrow track EVs. A way better solution than bigger EV for cities. Having owned a Reva for 3 years, and E2O now for 4yrs, I do agree with Mr. Lobo. Both are best things you could buy. The maintenance costs are nothing compared to the ease they bring to our city commute.
Reva was the first electric car I remember seeing in india. Since there is great demand for small electric car i hope reva thinks of improving this market.
I hope this message reaches the Mahindra leadership. Service Mechanics and Electricians generally in any company in India are ragtag roadside jugaadus. No training whatsoever. Companies and service centres must invest in training of these people.
Super speech in the end! I have always supported LA batteries. Just put water and good to go. In 17 yrs he would have had to change at least 3 times for each car its li-ion batteries. Sealed LA batteries are safer but different and not so much economical.

Hats off to u sir...very true..very practical & to the point talks.. Every1.. including every govt..saying electric is future.. electric is environment...but none are doing anything substantial to grow this project (tax benefits or special schemes to manufacture s & end user)..only saying & seeing vision is not enough we need action & steps to walk into future...till then only hope🙂
Amazing Man. Hats off!! And he was so hard and right on Mahindra. They bought REVA, but couldn't incorporate the original vision. Same was the case with our big 2 wheeler companies, who had been selling the same old boring 2 wheelers year after year( I am talking about you Hero). But times are changing, we have companies like Ather and Tork who really have vision and have been building the vehicles that have soul, speed and performance, even hero had to invest in Ather and now they will come up with similar model. We need similar start ups in 4 wheeler segment too. These companies are getting away with making cheap and unsafe cars at high prices only because Indians can't import good cars at equivalent prices. Mahindra E2O is not even considered as a car(it's considered a quadricycle) in western safety standard. Get real guys, this is a new age, if you only think about profit and not the customer and the planet, your days are numbered. Everybody is switching side or changing their face. When will you Indian companies?
Well, my Reva does 130Km (driving full throttle) or 160km (50ish km/h average) with lithium and if well mantained in the long run will save money compared to lead acid. On top of that has better performance and safety (brakes better with lower weight) compared to the lead acid Reva.
Sir, Appreciate your commitment! I need a piece of advice from you. I'm planning to buy a used E20. I live in Bangalore. What are my chances of finding a good mechanic in Bangalore, especially for battery work. Would you recommend buying a used E20? Thanks
Mahindra's after sales n service review from customers are very bad which discourage people buying ev with huge amount..... it will better to left business for Mahindra n blessed the ev lovers...

Mahindra like other businessmens is resorting to bigotry, they atleast had reva name in their electric car company name, but now they have even removed the word reva from it. This is just like how Vijay Mallya, when acquiring Deccan Airlines had promised to keep the Deccan name in their Airlines but after 6 months removed the name and broke the promise. This is exactly how some of the pure Bengluru based companies with great potentials after being acquired by bigger businessmen have suffered a serious blowback.
Mahindra was never serious about Reva or its existing customers. They got some bean counter to head the disvision, who essentially screwed it up. They year after buying a brand new Revai, they stopped its production. Very soon they stopped its spares and even faster all traces of revai disappeared from their website.
Why Mahindra is still not listening and continue to experimenting on customers money. Mahindra owns a formula e car. Then why not they rectify the e2o plus problems??

Yes that is a good point if you consider a car as something that allows you to go from A to B without much hassles. Musk cannot beat Chetan Maini in terms of utility factor. Most people hardly care what autopilot is all about....but people care about how the car can be used best.
I would personally make something a little smarter in looks but simple enough that teaches young drivers how to drive, and at the same time embrace the electric mobility. This vehicle will (if it at all happens) be a non ac (to keep it all basic) 4 door variant of the reva. Speed will be kept upto 60 kmph and 60 V lead acid battery will be there. This man is indeed the true ambassador of electric mobility in India. And also thanks to Maini sir for his wonderful concept of a baby car.
