Hey friends, you can enjoy this lesson with tabs and a 7 bar blues backing track at: www.patreon.com/posts/35728464. Be well and enjoy your practice! -Rob
Hey Rob thanks so much for this, first bb king lesson where I've understood and been able to follow everything, really useful! backing & tab link doesn't seem to work?
My pleasure Nicole, I’m going to make this into a series where I breakdown licks from iconic guitarist. Let me know if there’s a player you’d like for me to include.
Love this lesson. I learned the first three licks last night and I’m having great fun mastering them and embellishing slightly. Can you please do more David Gilmour style licks and phrases- and maybe even teach one of his amazing solos off the division Bell or maybe something more obscure like Mudmen on obscured by clouds? Thank you for all your amazing lessons. Not only are you an astonishing musician and vocalist but you are a class a teacher. The best.
Hello, many thanks for your lesson. Love learning the licks & it is something to keep me going & motivated. All the best with your channel, regards, Peter
excellent lesson!, i found myself in problems whet trying to make de ninth chord sound good (problem to make ring de first string and dont touch the 4th string with my mid finger)
Yeah I can’t make that chord sound nice either -Not like our amazing teacher! I’ve given up on it I just don’t play it. All the phrases put together sound awesome
Thanks Jonathon, yeah it’s weird because Bb is actually a very popular key. I guess most teachers assume it’s easier for people to learn techniques in natural keys, and on dotted frets.
@@swiftlessons obviously I'm just a new guy in spite of my age but I was always under the impression that it was not only THE key but historically the FIRST key... I remember the BB King Montreal? lecture when all he talked about was Bb. Besides it is right in the Guitar Sweet Spot... anyway thank you...
Great lick!! I have one doubt. Its about the B. B´s Box. Why its a major pentatonic? It doesn´t have the 3rd. It is because then you can use the chromaticisms and bend from the minor 3rd to the major 3rd?? I hope you can answer my question. The curiosity is killing me hahah It sounds amazing!
Me too. I started learning guitar about 9 years ago, after I retired, and wouldn't have even attempted it if it wasn't for UA-cam!! Thank you, Rob, for all you do, especially for us older hacks!! Cheers, mate!! :)
Huge Fan of your channel. Thank you for the lessons. Enjoyed this particular one but looks like the Tab does not match what you are playing note for note ? Thanks again.
There are loads of amazing pedals out there these days. You can’t go wrong with big names like Boss and Electro-Harmonix, but you should also check out the boutique brands like catalinbread.
Hey Richard, this backing track is a sort of exercise. It’s a condensed version of the common blues progression that I use to practice “playing through the changes,” which means that each lick leads melodically to the next chord.
Great video - but you really don't need to waste timing calling out the string and fret numbers for your fingerings like that when you've the tab included. Once played at regular tempo and one slowed down would do fine.
I appreciate the tabs in the video, but your rhythm transcriptions make my head hurt...you have this tabbed in 4/4, shouldn't it be 12/8? It will make your groupings much easier to read rather than have something like a half note rest that comes in on an off beat or that dotted 32nd note part.
You are better than tons of other guitar tutors up in here. I like how you break down things into small steps.
Lick 1 03:00
Lick 2 04:40
Lick 3 05:43
Lick 4 08:47
Lick 5 12:27
15:17
Thank you for lesson 🙏🙏
4 years later this is still a great lesson 👏

Class playing. Fantastic teacher with excellent lesson presentation. Always clearly explained.
Great licks. I absorb all the bb king Licks I can find from simple to difficult. Thank you
Hey, BB King is definitely one of the kings of the Blues! Cheers for this lead lesson man!
Absolutely, just sitting down with your guitar, watching him perform and doing your best to imitate his phrases can really improve your blues soloing.
@@swiftlessons It's truly inspirational indeed! Quite easily one of the greatest of all time.
Man, in seconds and I'm sure just getting started, you play some mean blues!! Sweet.
PEACE from Philadelphia

My pleasure Nicole, I’m going to make this into a series where I breakdown licks from iconic guitarist. Let me know if there’s a player you’d like for me to include.

excellent lesson!, i found myself in problems whet trying to make de ninth chord sound good (problem to make ring de first string and dont touch the 4th string with my mid finger)
I have to understand what i'm seeing.
Yeah I can’t make that chord sound nice either -Not like our amazing teacher! I’ve given up on it I just don’t play it. All the phrases put together sound awesome
very clear lesson thank you
Tone for miles! Nice!
❤thank you for your love and blessings 🙌 🙏 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤
Really love these lessons. Any tips on how to get timing down for fast licks over a slow tempo song? Struggling a bit with that. Thanks!
New sub. Great tutorial. Thank you
Great man!😮
Swifty your class 👏 😊
Great video! Now please do one where the solenoid is attached to the starter.
amazing licks
Amazing as always!
To learn the solos, you slow down the video.
15:15 is when he plays the whole thing
Love it. Very simplistic, mellow, soulful flavor licks.
very good lesson , i have to work !
Remember me??
Thanks a lot for these licks, i like to improvise with these.
so nice thank you😁 kind of a releif too there are too many blues tutorials that completely ignore Bb

How sweet it is! Stay safe, stay home, play guitar!👍🎸🇨🇦
Great lick!!

I hope you can answer my question. The curiosity is killing me hahah
It sounds amazing!
u have a video on Raking?
More lick sssss please 🙏 ❤❤❤❤
Very good👍👍 thank
UA-cam worked for me !
Yeah those commercial are annoying, at least I can undermine their message by following it with a solid lesson.
@@swiftlessons I let the commercials play while i do my warm-up drills. Trying to help the cause!! Great lesson!

Great!!👏👏👏
Great lesson. How do you get such a clean vibrato on the high E string?
Huge Fan of your channel. Thank you for the lessons. Enjoyed this particular one but looks like the Tab does not match what you are playing note for note ? Thanks again.
Thank you. What model and color is your es 335? It is beautiful!
Great!!!
nice
What guitar is that? Nice finish
im a bit confused by the scale you are using to play. it seems like mixing a mojor and minor scale, but not sure
Where can I find the backing track for this?
What's the deal with the bridge on that guitar?
15:16
Can I ask what model your guitar is please?
I don't know how u mixed the major and minor bt I suck at it
you have a vid of yourself just playing the licks?
How Can i find this backinf track
what a beautiful guitar
Grazie.
GENIAL !! How can you play and sing "It takes a lot to laugh, it takes a train to cry"(Bob Dylan).Thanks.
Chibson?
The link to the backing track isn't working.
How do you even play a E flat 7 , jesus that’s tough
What pedals do you recommend. I mean wich brands are trustworthy?
There are loads of amazing pedals out there these days. You can’t go wrong with big names like Boss and Electro-Harmonix, but you should also check out the boutique brands like catalinbread.
I second Boss. Cheap, accessible, simple, reliable. Good shit
Nic video
SUPER génial
Now, if I could just play these "at speed" AND clean lol...
How i wish i cud do that too
Odd choice of chords, or are they significant to the lesson?
Hey Richard, this backing track is a sort of exercise. It’s a condensed version of the common blues progression that I use to practice “playing through the changes,” which means that each lick leads melodically to the next chord.
I have been playing about nearly 60 years. These licks are nice, however, you need to learn your own...not everyone else's.
That’s true, I definitely recommend that students take these licks, mix and match them, and try to write their own using their “raw materials.”
👍👍
Great video - but you really don't need to waste timing calling out the string and fret numbers for your fingerings like that when you've the tab included. Once played at regular tempo and one slowed down would do fine.
Hedrix definitely copied the 2 lick you could hear it in red house
I appreciate the tabs in the video, but your rhythm transcriptions make my head hurt...you have this tabbed in 4/4, shouldn't it be 12/8? It will make your groupings much easier to read rather than have something like a half note rest that comes in on an off beat or that dotted 32nd note part.
yo, that's the major scale in general, not pentatonic
