I sure hope Peter Gabriel sees this. I would love to hear him say something great about Larkin Poe.
He would say "cute".
Who ? What do you say?
Love it
From what I know, he's a big jerk that never has anything nice to say about other artist. Bitter old English man of a legend.
He might send the great Paula Cole to see them.
This is how music should be - people sharing and having fun. Thank you.
Two singers accompanying themselves on acoustic and slide guitar create a sound that rivals a phalanx of vocalists and a truckload of electronic gear. Who says the age of miracles has passed?
That's not a miracle. It's talent and putting the work in.
Damn right. These two are nothing short of a miracle.
You're the best!! Larken Poe, is setting a new standard! Agree??
You girls made that song your own. Something that is not easy to do. AMAZINGIY GOOD!
That was absolute fire Ladies! Nice freaking job! Nice cover! One of my favorite Peter Gabriel songs! 👏👏👏 Bravo!!
Takes me back to the days in 3rd BDE, 3rd ID. They played the Peter Gabriel version every day on the outside speakers every day when physical training was finished, since it was the Sledgehammer brigade. Last I heard its colors had been cased and Kelly Hill left empty, but this brings back memories.
This joyful performance just walked into my head without even asking! I don’t think I’ll stop rocking all day. Thank you so much!!
Larkin Poe is beyond any doubt the best band of the world.
I wonder how many notice the switch in harmonic roles in the "show for me" part near the end!? SMOOF
What a challenge! PG is one of the greatest composer, musician and lyricist. But LP can do it
I just saw Peter play this in DC and I've been trolling around YT listening to all these very talented groups recreate Sledgehammer note for note and sound for sound trying to sound just like the record, ahhh so what? I'd rather listen to Peter. These ladies are taking a great song and making it their own, I loved listening to this creative version. Rock on
very good. I could not be here for the live stream because my grand daughter had a birthday aprty for turning 11. Family takes priority over everything including Larkin Poe. Thank God for the internet so I did not miss a beat from these great gals.
The relevance of the SO album from 1986 is amazing. Great version of an amazing song. Love P G
Wow! Never would have thought they'd get it this funky with that instrumentation.
...wanted to have my mid-day sleep since hours... I'm just pinned to my laptop ever clicking the next performance of Larkin Poe... can't stop it...
Got tickets for Nov 7 show. Excited!!! Should be good audience.
Just had to listen to this again. Once was not enough.
Never ever thought I'd hear someone do a cover of this and do it justice !! But I forgot about these 2 talented young ladies. Brilliant
Hi Larkin poe, so nice amazing version of p Gabriel song. I love. It's a pleasure to hear you.. From France.. 👍❤️
This song was a favorite of my father’s , wish he had lived long enough to hear this fantastic version by Larkin Poe !
Great performance...Larkin Poe knocked it out of the Park.
I am looking forward to another great performance by Larkin Poe. Sledgehammer was a very popular song and has stood the test of time.
You know when Megan’s eyes close, things are rocking!
Taking me back to when MTV actually played music videos. Awesome!
No one has ever pulled this off... until now... Well done!
Sledgehammer is one of my favorite songs
These two just have way too much fun
Wow ...& today out of leftfield we've got the some Mr Gabriel from fine ladies of Larkin Poe. Well played indeed. Never to disappoint.
What I enjoy about these covers is that I can really get the genius of both the music and lyrics, it's like the stripped down hot rod of music.
Yes!! Great craft all around. Fantastic song played fresh. These two are just amazing
Well said!
What a great way to put it! Have enjoyed every video they have released because their powerful creativity always shines through, no matter the piece of music they are performing!
Indeed! Spot on! Love Hot Rods, and music!
Has there ever been two sisters with more talent - I think not!
Wilson sisters? Heart?
The girls sledgehammered this down into another exibit of rocking us good. Alchemist level of turning old good into new good.
Sweet lordy lordy! Yet again! Just so amazed. Thank you do much. God bless. Xx
WOW !! Pure talent !! Superb acoustic version, beautiful arrangement of guitars and vocals (from guitarist to guitarist), thrilling harmonies !! 👍🏻🤟🏻 My compliments!! Maximum respect !! 😌🙌🏻🤟🏻 A hug from Italy !! 🤗🤗💪🏻🤟🏻
This cover is OUT OF SIGHT!!
We all talk about the slide queen, and with good reason, but Rebecca is also a very accomplished guitar player in her own right
She makes it look easy and she sings the hell out of every song, both at the same time. True talent.
"DAMN IT BOYS N GIRLS"...PURE GOLD TALENT ROCKING IT HERE!
Instruments-wise some covers are epic, some are good, and some just okay-ish. But the party starts when they start singing together. They are like one being with two voices. Everything is spot on, they are as accurate as swis clock. I think that if one was about to snore during the night, the other would kick in at the exact same time, and they would harmonize :) :) That's why I especially like covers like "In the air tonight", "Kiss from a rose", "Rich girl", "Bell bottom blues" and would add this one as well. Towards the end, these songs become something like a massive celebration with fireworks.
This is not one of my favorite songs, but the Rebel Yell and Slide Queen action are on full display here. I always love your joyful enthusiasm for the the music, Rebecca & Megan, especially your own! 👍💖🎸😎
Joyful enthusiasm describes them perfectly. It's that special ingredient.
@@frankboyd. He or she who can have work that he or she loves will never work another day in his or her life. They love their work. As you said, it's so apparent. I'm very happy for them. 👍👍👍
Rebecca has a fantastic voice. Sledgehammer doesn’t exactly lend itself to a live performance by just two, but they smash it. Lyrics not exactly intended to be sung by women, either - witness the occasional smile between the sisters. Great stuff, terrific performance.
Excellent,brilliant,exquisite,quality,HUGE!!!!!!!!
Can’t wait! Have always loved Peter Gabriel!! My teenage years I’d sit and wait just to see it on MTV! 💗
That Beard acoustic guitar, and the Rickenbacker lap steel, really blend well together.
Amazing rendition as always.
The sheer obvious fun they have is contagious!
It's amazing how yall keep smiling at the exact same moment without looking at one another
He wrote it, y’all own it. 100% 😮😳😍
A pure love for music is so refreshing to see, and you do it so well.
Ladies, brilliant as always...! I love these "raw" performances. Fact is, I like them more than the produced product. Please compile and publish all this brilliance: "Larkin Poe - Raw and Untouched - From the Girl's Locker Room"... :-) You get the idea, these performance are priceless...!
Masterpiece 🙌 🙂.
Thank you for your voices, your guitars, your rythm and your smiles 🙂👍️🎸💚
I do find your arrangements and delivery very inspiring, but this, WOW!
Every song on the world must be turn into Larkin Poe style! :D
I have to rewatch what I was rewatching with my eyes open. Y’all are so freakin amazing!!!!
Talented sisters are a very good thing. Thank you for the music.
I hope Peter Gabriel hears this. Wow.
This is a very, very cool version of Sledgehammer
Never seen Larkin Poe but I own some of their cds. Their style, their brave approach to music is so fresh. I turned Woody Guthrie tunes into metal. Metallica becomes Mozart. Miles Davis becomes the Beatles. Love this duo.
For 4 minutes and 8 seconds I did not breathe .. such a difficult song! Sisters Poe are going beyond beautiful ...
I just noticed Megan’s tshirt is from Portland’s KGON. I listened to that station when I was growing up. Great job!
The Poe do it again !
And The Larkin too🤣🖤!
Haha, thanks Thomas.
I too really enjoying these sisters. I do though like their southern country/rock side
@@garyschneider8829 I am looking forward to finally seeing the girls next year
That voice!
This is a really fun rendition. I'm a big fan of what Larkin Poe is doing.
I love Larkin Poe. What you ladies did here is fantastic! Your arrangement is most appreciated. 🙂❤
Another fantastic rendition, brilliant to see you having almost much as we do listening and watching it!
The implied "two" crack of the snare drum is so present in your version makes my shoulders and head move in time...Fabulous work here, as always. You two so rock! Regards from your shows at WaterFront some years ago in PDX.
Sounds Amazing!!!!👍🤠👍
They are special!! Wish they would come to the Boston area more!❤❤
YA'LL are now starting kindred spirits Vol-3 , 2 💎s
VERY impressive!!! I wondered how y'all were gonna pull this off. You f'n' did it! Kudos!
Hope Peter hears this, cause this is awesome ur take on his song, great slide work,an long with ur great voices ladies..carry one.tks again😎😎😎😎😎
Wonderfull arrangement, minimalistic and performed with masterclass control. Brilliant!
This is one of my favorite songs.
Rebecca's face is so classically and beautifully gorgeous. And her hair is the perfect backdrop. And her voice is like the angel who leads Heaven's choir's voice. I know she's married, but I am in love with her, straight up. Tell her man we duel at high noon,.. winner takes Becca's hand
Amazing, awesome, brilliant who can say something else !!
i saw you guys a few weeks ago in Billings, Montana. INCREDIBLE! I came to see Keb, and left wanting to see more of Larkin Poe! Great job, the whole band!
Amazing! I wasn’t sure if this one would work, but Larkin Poe excelled yet again
Hi Larkin Poe. You two young ladies are absolutely amazing!!! Powerful vocals and crazy good guitars. Love your videos! Thank you.
Love the classic KGON T-shirt! That's my "number 1" on all my cars.
I remember when this came out in 1986 when MTV was at the pinnacle,it`s a great video along with Dire Straights "Money For Nothin".
Crazy good, roll on April 2022, I cant wait to see them.
Just an awesome cover of my absolute favourite artist from the 80's. Love it, love it, love it. :D
A injection of fun larkin poe Just can't wait for the UK. Tour to happen apr/may 2022 I simply adore megan and Rebecca personality
Just got my ticket to your October show in Carson City. Saw you at the MJF, keep getting better.
You made a wonderfull conversion of the peter gabriel song sledhammer
Simply magical. The talent of These two ladies is remarkable. Their sense of harmony vocals, harmony of instruments, and their sensitivity of timing will go down in history as legendary.
The acoustics in that room were spot on xD
Simply "wow!". No more words.
As Peter Gabriel would say.......Surround yourself with brilliance!
This is a song I never particularly cared for in its original form, but now find I can enjoy. The best part? You always look like there is no place else you’d rather be in that moment than playing the song you are playing, whatever it is. Thanks for that.
Megan sure did seen to enjoy this one!!! Sounds awesome!!!
HELL YEAH! LARKIN GABRIEL!
Hey the slide guitar actually playing the harmonies over the vocals in the second verse is so amazing definitely did not go unnoticed 🥰😍😀👍👍
Big fan of you guys since Fredericton harvest jazz and blues festival when you opened for Robert plant. Come back to Atlantic Canada soon please.
I would love to see these guys work their. Magic on so many songs. One of them is " In Your Eyes". I have a feeling the vocals alone would be phenomenal.
You girls rock!!! Great great song, beautifuly done. This is unbelievable what two girls can do!
I’ve loved all of these. And this one is AMAZING! Always excited to see what you do with them. And Megan wearing the KGON shirt……… PLEASE come to Portland, or somewhere in Oregon………
Mr. Gabriel would be no doubt impressed! \m/
I knew this would be good before I even clicked on it and I was right! This is such an awesome arrangement! Well done!
Cheers from Vancouver Island, BC!
These two got IT
Absolutely superb rendition.
Only sisters could pull this off. -terrific job!
I introduced your music (original and covers) to my 73 year old mum yesterday. She adores you two. She even wrote you down in her little “music book” for future reference. She’s very picky with that book 😊❤️
That was a happy surprise with an acoustic guitar, and really good control on the style of playing. Peter's version is almost done with the "wall of sound", but Larkin Poe made the instruments stand out as skillfully mastered. Better than the original every time. So what is their secret to awesome all around performance? Wait, don't tell me, let the whole world wonder too.
The key to the cover’s success is SPACE! The mind naturally fills in the pieces. As you tap your feet, it’s adding in percussion subconsciously. The simplicity of it all is why songs like this do so amazing. The more you try to add to get the “wall of sound”, the more you have to do to get it to work right.
@@ZacCostilla I agree here. I must also point out that this creating spaces in music was what made B.B. King a legend among the musical world. The ability to make the mind fill in the spaces created is a truly rare and wonderful gift. The genius on display here is soul soothing. Thank you
@@davebeach2343 I LOVE BB King! My mom used to put on his albums, and Aretha Franklin, and a lot of soul music, Young Rascals, Spencer Davis Group & Traffic, Beatles and more. There are times I love the “wall of sound”, but usually I prefer to let my mind naturally fill in the blanks.
It was hard as a beginning guitar player (a couple or three decades ago) because I wanted to play to fill in the spaces my brain did on its own, and could never keep up. I had to slow the 45s down to 33 1/3 to realize the notes I was hearing in my head were my own harmonies and weren’t on tue record (we had a ton of records at home from the jukebox at my parents’ restaurant, every time they’d switch them out for new singles).
