Drove down from Washington State to see both shows. On the day of the second show, my buddy and I drove to the reservoir near Copperopolis (we liked the name) and went swimming. There were all these frog egg domes in the water that were B-D cup (yes we felt them up). My buddy left his wallet on top of the car as we drove away and did not realize it until we were back at the venue. We drove all the way back and looked for the wallet. No go. Then we asked these guys fishing on a bridge near by and they produced the wallet with al the credit cards but 150 dollars missing. What do you say... thanks for the wallet. As we were walking back to the car we saw this little dust devil blowing around the road with what appeared to be leaves swirling around. As we got closer we realized the leaves were green 20 dollar bills. There was 120 dollars blowing round in that little dust devil. We made it back just in time to see Carlos Santana open on the second day. A fine day and great second day set.
I WAS THERE ! and it was awesome !!! The BEST shows I've been lucky enough to experience, what a weekend Mtn. Air 1987 , Thank you Jerry & Carlos and company.
18 and i was there. This show was mind blowing with the air show going on and carlos killing it. swimming in the fountain at the entrance because it was hot as hell.I long for those dead shows. Thanks for the great memories.
I remember looking at the stage and there was a thunderstorm in the mountains behind the stage. The clouds in the distance were pink with lightning shooting through them. Or, maybe it was the shrooms. Whatever. Great times!
YES INDEED So there I was high as a kite picking up trash in the parking area when two fellows asked me through the fence if I wanted to work for Bill Graham and get in shows for free!!! LOL you know what I did, and what a Beautiful beautiful Beautiful thing this Life!! Then I got to work on the balloon crew for the new year shows... Thank YOU Eternal Bill, Dead, YOU ALL I Love YOU and YOU and YOURS TOO:) Hugs
@@onthebus11 Somehow I ended up guarding equipment for Steve Parish out at the Boreal Ridge show in 85...I had open access and a walkie talkie but to tell you the truth, I missed the parking lot scene
@@Justdon-s2s Boreal Ridge was a memorable show - for the worst sound ever! If you remember, Bobby really complained and the band seemed to just give up. Great location though and I used to ski there as well.
Nitrous balloons and LSD, what a weekend! After, we ended up taking "showers" (Ouch!) at a car wash while washing dust off of our cars before heading further north for a camping week in Sinkyone Wilderness in Mendocino.
Yep. That was the year of the Harmonic Convergence, remember? I was traveling with an Austrian gal who was raised super Catholic. She was turning hippie and we tripped at a hot spring the week before. Then arriving at the show, her religious training came forward and she concluded we/it/they were all the devil. Wouldn't go in, but I did! Great shows.
@@brucejenner3656 Yep, what a summer. I didn't participate in the Harmonic party, in fact skipped Telluride shows (I regret that) due to it's high convergence factor. But the whole thing added some extra sense of spirituality, however unfounded (IMHO) to the time. Fake it to make it!
@John Heppner YEP ! I was there too! The whole video scene was another amazing story. Going back into the arena at night after the show. It was a bit foggy and the band was playing but then they were skeletons and the music was recorded. It was crazy with all the takes. The music would start and everybody would go into deadhead action. Then, a minute later sound stopped and we all fell like the puppets on stage. Over and over. And over and over. And how they kept us staying around with promises but never played. It was hard to feel angry but.

I was there at 21 and having fun see the numbers run. One of the best of many Dead shows I attended in the late '80s.
Earlier today I played a bit of Santana.
Then, this came up on my feed.
BLISS 🎉✅🌹😎🕊✌️
I was there too. 19 years old with a college buddy. Drove up from LA. Also caught Laguna Seca. Such fun to be grateful deading back then!

The picture at 1:55 is one of my all time favorites. Bob and Jerry just in awe of Carlos’ majestic mane.

Remember the Belly Dancers at the entrance, and the bi-planes! Lord from what I can remember what a Day!
outdoor camping weekends were the best.
both calaveras weekends were among the best of those camping weekends
The bi planes were cray-cray!
Jerry and Carlos trading licks on WatchTower... priceless.
i was there also, what a great weekend

Awesome show . I was just 20. Remember the band coming in on a helicopter behind the stage? All the bikers!
YES !
@@ceeweedsl thank you. So long ago now it seems
my 3rd show!
This was Mountain Aire with David Lindley also on the bill? They did the Touch of Grey video the Friday night before the Sat / Sun concert?
As John said TOG was Laguna Seca, but it was Dead/Santana/Linley with Air Show...
Remember "Every so Gently" as the bi-planes did the incredable stunts ?
@@johnforbis5037 What an awesome weekend that was!
Touch of Grey video was shot at Laguna Seca bro with Ry Cooder, David Lindley was at the ANGEL CAMP shows, but not Laguna man.
