As a great antagonist I'm sure.
I found the season 6 voice over thing to be quite annoying and made it difficult to understand what he was saying. While I get the comedy of it, it was just too much for me

The episode Diesel Does It Again was actually one of the first not to be based on an Awdry story, but adapted from one of Andrew Brenner's magazine stories.
Even Britt knew that he was good at story writing
I swear, Brenner was the best thing to happen to this show in a long time!
Shame Mattel had to basically squander him....
@@bladeobrian2144 Yeah. Too bad Andrew has other projects he wants to pursue which is why he left Thomas & Friends. He could have ensure things still go well, especially with Diesel remaining mostly devious in the show.

@Julien Blaschitz The book was written at the request of Britt Allcroft. I don't know why they decided to make Diesel Does it Again instead.
@@sKid-gh9ub Why did she requested that? It's a good thing they decided to make Diesel Does it Again instead so that way Diesel can have a role of being a bad guy in the show.
@@DavidBContentExtravaganza3967 I think she requested it because Diesel proved to be a popular character. At that time, there was a rule that all TV stories had to appear in print form first. By the time series 3 came around, that rule was no longer in place. I still don't understand why they decided against adapting Thomas and the Evil Diesel. If they wanted to continue to use Diesel as a recurring character, then that would have made more sense as Thomas and the Evil Diesel ends with the door left open for Diesel to possibly return, whereas at the end of Diesel Does it Again, the Fat Controller literally says to Diesel "I shall not be inviting you back!" It just makes so much less sense, and again it resulted in Diesel being a much blander character on TV than he is in the books.

I totally agree with you. I never saw Diesel as a villain too. Is I always saw him as mostly being an anti-hero as well. I love his character growth between season 8 and 24.

The class 08 was the very first engine I saw in real life that was used to form the basis of a Thomas and Friends character. We used to have a few working at Port Talbot Steelworks in South Wales and for me, was always a joy to see it in action and was branded by EWS. But the first one I saw was a light grey one in a goods yard in Baglan, also in South Wales.
Plus, during Diesel’s transition into 2D with All Engines Go, yeah, I hate that adaptation as well, but I should point out that Diesel’s cab is higher up than it should be, which makes him look more like a hybrid of an 08 and the 11001 shunter (Dennis and Norman’s basis) and has had subtle patches of maroon on his details for contrast purposes.
Just like Lemon says, there always a Diesel in someone’s life.
But his model isn't done, Satan had a go and made his own for season 25, and yes Mattel hired Satan to make season 25 😈

I agree. He's created to be Thomas' foe in the old show and the franchise itself.
But he's also a foe to the other engines as well, but mostly to Thomas and Duck.

@@DavidBContentExtravaganza3967 He was actually created as Duck's foe. Diesel and Thomas never interacted until Thomas and the Evil Diesel, and I don't think they interacted directly at all during series 1-7 (unless you count Thomas observing Diesel from a distance in The World's Strongest Engine.)

Oh my god, I jumped when I saw the thumbnail and clicked immediately. I voted for the Diesel video yesterday, but I didnt think it would be here today. I know this may be highly unlikely, but would consider Rosie next?
Nitrogen did pretty good with the CG Thomas stuff. I grew up watching Jimmy neutron (fun fact, series creator is an animation professor at the University of Cincinnati) and Early Veggietales animated in softimage, so seeing thomas in CG was interesting. I had outgrown it by then though.

What always kind of bugged me was basically every subsequent diesel introduced in the show, with the exception of Boco, Derick, Mavis and Daisy, were all just BR 08s with different faces.
Guess they should have come up with other class of diesels, big and shunter ones for the show. BR 08s must be very popular nowadays.
And Salty, who is a BR Class 07.

As ridiculous as this may sound, the reason Devious Diesel is of all time my favorite Thomas and Friends character was because his engine sounded like a truck 🛻 (as you have just demonstrated at the very start of this video)

I use Devious Diesel as my Music Production Alias, as an altar ego character name, and basically every other internet username. Its funny that you said "Devious Diesel" because everyone remembers him that way, but nowhere in the actual Thomas material (britt allcroft or the reverend's stories) is he actually referred to as "Devious Diesel". It's just an episode called "Diesel's Devious Deed". So I think I'm relatively safe lol
Officially, his name is just "Diesel" or "The Diesel", so taking it on as a username, music production name, or even as an original character nickname - as far as I'm aware - isn't technically a copyright infringement since its just a fan name. But similarly to the mandela effect, everyone seems to be under the impression that its his given name by the Rev. W. Awdry and/or Britt Allcroft productions. What's your opinion?

I still feel as though the main reason Diesel is devious, is because of how the other engines treated him when he first arrived. I think that was part of what you talked about in your other video about him.
Wrong-o. The main reason Diesel is devious because he plans to prove that diesels are better than steam engines whom he dislike by causing trouble to them which he likes.
Diesel constantly antagonizes the inhabitants of the Island of Sodor and causes trouble for the steam engines, primarily to prove that diesel engines are superior. That's his main reason for being devious, nothing else.
Also, stop defending him since the engines has a reason to distrust him. Diesel's own fault, no one else.
Trainboy said that Thomas & Friends are better with bad characters in it, even Diesel in that last video and you know it.

Unlike the Reboot, Diesel was actually a friend so suddenly. I wish that Diesel even though still devious, He could change his ways slightly. Diesel is a funny character and classy as well
No way, Diesel is not a friend to the steam engines on account of his dislike for them and his antagonist status in the show and thankfully he remains so after Season 24. The reboot ruins him.
