I think the fact that Rosie really likes Thomas and wants to work along side him a lot is actually a nod to the history of her class. Like you said, the S100 USA tank engines worked along side the E2 tank engines, so they had Rosie like Thomas a lot because of the history of her and Thomas' basis and how they worked together.
You know, the way I see it, Thomas and Rosie have a bit of a brother/sister relationship. That's why she tried to copy him, she looks up to him, and after she ran away from Hector and Thomas stood up to him, that definitely proves my point.
@@thesecondbestengine828 Unless you're one of the fans who are into shipping characters. There's a lot who are like Rosie + Thomas or something lol. I don't see Rosie and Thomas as brother and sister, but really close friends.
Rosie is definitely an interesting character conceptually, an American loco sent to Sodor during wartime. I’m curious to see how she would’ve acted while wearing her USATC Black livery.
I have a confession to make: I was partly responsible for the introduction of Rosie in Thomas & Friends way back when. I was barely twelve then, and something of an introvert kid who, even then, wanted to be involved in Thomas & Friends, in some way. I sent out a whole summary of half-baked character bio suggestions to Hit Entertainment, that ended up forming a base-of-sorts for the characters introduced in Series 10, including Rosie. In those days, I did not fully appreciate the difference in tone from how Hit Entertainment handled the franchise against Britt Allcroft's time, simply because as a young un, I wasn't naturally exposed to underlying business tactics like that. All I appreciated at the time then was getting a letter of acknowledgment back for my suggestions. Since then, over a tedious but rewarding amount of time, I have steadily plodded forward but that same spark of wanting to work on Thomas & Friends has never quite strayed away from my mind. I do have a plan tied to wanting to clear the whole plight of the franchise under Mattel in the works, and it will definitely be a prime focal point of my plans for next year, so stay tuned. A bit of an off topic discussion but I been wondering this head cannon for awhile: How would Thomas (E2 Class) and Rosie (SR USA Class) react about Salty (BR class 07) arriving on Sodor since his basis replaced the majority of him. I know Thomas had met Salty before and seemed to enjoy him at Brendam Docks in a few episode, but how will Rosie react to him?
So: Thomas was replaced by Rosie And Salty replaced Rosie We never see an encounter with Rosie and Salty in the model series where scrapping was a thing. In the CGI series, yeah scrap isn’t a thing.
@@sdmedia1323 are you sure is BWBA a scrap engine appears not to mention Oliver escaped from scrap as mentioned in season 18 , in Journey beyond Sodor scrap is mentioned several times , at the diesel works there are several scrap engines such as a Charlie cab and even the marklin engine .
What you have to remember though is that Sodor generally has no clue if the goings-on with their siblings. Hence, there isn’t, and will never be, any animosity between the 3. Thomas didn’t know he was replaced by Rosie, because he wasn’t on the mainland at the time, as for Rosie being replaced, we don’t know about her past as Salty came to Sodor before her. It’s like how, generally, in the Railway Series there isn’t massive competition between the Steam and Diesel engines, and even later on when the Electric engines come along, there is no animosity. As this isn’t BR, and they don’t replace engines with more modern ones, simply shift the workload around, the engines don’t have animosity about being replaced. If they were to do it on the mainland, and every engine arrived on Sodor after seeing their siblings being scrapped and replaced, in similar fashion to Oliver, then most engines wouldn’t get on as, for example, Emily was replaced by Edward for express duties, who was then replaced by Gordon. (Extreme simplification). So Emily would hate Edward for causing her siblings to be put out of service, whilst Edward would feel the same towards Gordon. And the only thing every steam engine could agree on is the hatred of diesels for them taking over.
I wonder if at one point Thomas hated Rosie for replacing his class and at another point both of them hated Salty for replacing both of they’re classes.
I remember years ago it was rumoured that Little Owl AKA the Goods Engine's model from TUGS was used for Rosie. But of course (and obviously) this turned out to be false.
I’m glad Rosie didn’t get faced to the doom of the Hit Era graveyard when CGI happened, she really had one of the best characters of that era and I loved how she matured as the seasons went on, like a background character arc

I never warmed up to the pink livery, I've always preferred the red livery. To me that was a far better choice for her. I do wish that they would've come out with the S160 class of steam engine that would've been friends with Rosie (given that they're both USA built) and maybe they could've had some wartime stories to tell. Though I do think that would've only worked with UA-camr fan made stories.

@Michael Butler because I have the HO scale Red Rosie model. I remember when she first came out and was like him not going to spend my money on the pink model even though I liked the engine itself. So when Red Rosie made the TV screen I waited for the Red Rosie model patiently and got what I wanted. It has become one of my go to Thomas engines to use t the Model Railroad train shows.
I Love Rosie. She is such an enjoyable character and felt so unique, despite being less fleshed-out then the others. Glad she got some TLC in the CGI, aswell as focus in many fan-made projects.
Amazing episode btw, love the bit of history about her real-world basis prior to the TTTE history. Definitely an enjoyable addition to the "History Of" format:)
Personally, I preferred her first livery as it stands out compared to her red one. While I understand different colors aren't all that realistic, I prefer them so characters can be identified more easily.
I liked Rosie as a character when she first showed up in the model series but the only thing I didn’t really like was her pink livery, as it just felt like too bright of a color compared to all other characters’ liveries. I wish she had the dark red livery in the model series, it’s so classy and I feel like it suits her better (like how green suits Henry better than blue).
They have rosie at drayton manor and u can ride on her along with thomas diesel and i think percy. I got the pleasure of riding on thomas and rosie about 10 years ago and although i dont have the best memory, i can remember all 4 engines being amazing
Rosie would have been a far better female to add to the steam team than Nia and Rebecca combined, and I sometimes wonder whether that was the original plan.
I like Rosie's pink livery more because 1) nostalgia and 2) it made her stand out for the rest since there weren't that many (or any) pink engines on the island.

TrainBoy thanks for doing a video about Rosie, I wanted to know the history about her and of course her TV model. I also wish that the producers at Mattel could have had Rosie to be one of the lead Main characters of the scene team as well. Because they didn't do that, or maybe originally they were going to do that before. I still say that Rosie should be part of the steam team anyways. Emily became one of my favorite main characters from the steam team, however I did like Rosie at the same time. And I wish she could have been part of the steam team, and I believe she should be part of the steam team anyway. Because Rosie is one of my favorites, I'm sure she is another favorite for some of the little girls out there. And some of the Thomas fans that are young women as well, I'm sure some of those hardcore women Thomas fans Love Rosie as well. So with all of this in mind, thank you very much for doing a video about Rosie
Interesting that Rosie's original build was fully custom. I recently picked up a Bachmann Rosie and noticed that the rods and valve gear aren't accurate to the real life USATC S100 or any of its derivatives, but are 100% accurate to both the CGI and model series Thomas, I'd been trying to figure out just where that change originated.
I've seen people consider if Thomas would be jealous of Rosie as her class beat out his. Though I'm a little unsure - as Thomas was shipped to Sodor the same year he was built (1915), he might not be that connected to his siblings. He never really referenced is past life and heritage in any stories like Gordon and Duck. Perhaps a byproduct of Awdry not envisioning Thomas as an E2. If he were a J50, he'd be cousins with Gordon and Spencer; I imagine that could be some interesting story potential for an AU.
I really wish Rosie was a Main character instead of Nia or Rebbecca. Furthermore why wasn't there an Episode of Rosie being repainted Red or an Explaination why?

I kind of like her CGI livery with the No. 37. I do find her a personality a missed opportunity she could have been one of the Hit era top 5 characters after Luke, Hiro and Victor.
Rosie really isn't a bad character. It's more of her basis' history that makes me like her but I must say when they reintroduced her in cherry red and with a number, then I was pretty much satisfied!! If course, the pink is quite nostalgic. The large, blank white areas are the only thing left that bothers me about her but I can overlook that.

I knew Rosie existed but I was never a huge fan of her but it's not okay that one of Rosie's models are in dranton manor or any of them at all. I'm still gonna keep asking for Sir Topham Hatt's car until an episode is done on it.
I’m pretty sure that Rosie has got a replacement motor now because I went to Drayton manor this year and when I saw the model exhibition rosie was running round the circuit
I made an OC character named Justin and is Rosie’s twin brother and I made up a story for them, after serving in WW2, Justin, Rosie, and their siblings, Ed, Shelly, Wanda, John, Kim, Tiff, Barney, and Jimmy went back to the States where they worked on the PRR and NYC, they wanted to stay together, but with the larger PRR S1, S2, T1s, Q1, Q2s, and NYC Hudsons, Mohawks, and Niagaras, they were separated from each other, The class 1 railroads of the US saw this and they started building a railroad for them. In October of 1948, construction commenced, and in April of 1949, the California-Nevada Railroad opened. In 1970, Justin went to serve in Vietnam, the railroad acquired a GE 70 ton switcher, named Ricky. BTW the engines’ classes are S100s andS160s, Jimmy, Justin, Ed, Shelly, and Tiff are S100s, while, John, Wanda, Barney, and Kim are S160s, ya’ll know what Rosie is. Justin returned to the railroad, but in 2006, after Rosie left, the railroad shut down, the engines were sold to larger railroads, Justin and Ricky were sold to Union Pacific, where Justin befriended many engines, along with 2 employees, Scott and Heather Smith. In 2013, Justin was purchased by the NWR and reunited with Rosie. Justin had many adventures on the NWR. After saving a runaway Hank, Justin was sent to Crewe for a rebuild, into an S100/160 hybrid, using his sister Wanda’s tender. Wanda was involved in an accident, but survived, and rebuilt into an S100 with a 2-8-0 arrangement. Justin became a tender-tank engine with a 2-8-0T+T. Fun Fact: the CNR was originally gonna be a class 3 railroad, but changed to class 2, and originally gonna be named the USATC Railroad. The railroad had a mainline, a branch line, and a quarry. And finally, the line was restored by Union Pacific. Hope you guys liked the story
The weird thing is how do the engine differentiate their genders? Is it like their name or color or is it the cursed partially organic versions where they have their..."parts". This is why Thomas the Tank Engine leaves more questions than answered.
I think the fact that Rosie really likes Thomas and wants to work along side him a lot is actually a nod to the history of her class.

Ah Rosie, Thomas's fan girl.
One of my favorite lady engines.
I knew Rosie existed but I was never a huge fan of her but it's not okay that one of Rosie's models are in dranton manor or any of them at all. I'm still gonna keep asking for Sir Topham Hatt's car until an episode is done on it.
How clever of them to base the relationship between the two engines working together in real life.
Can you do "The History of Lady and Her Models"? I'm curious because I know a couple of things about her.
My favourite livery is her Red livery. I wasn't really a fan of her Pink livery.
I’m pretty sure that Rosie has got a replacement motor now because I went to Drayton manor this year and when I saw the model exhibition rosie was running round the circuit
Can you do a video on Harold the Helicopter. He's a Railway Series character.
I would want to see either Dennis or neville
Wow rosie is my sister's favorite engine and it's on her birthday!
One of my favorite characters ^^
nice
You should do one on Hanks model from the model /CGI series
