For all my gripes with the CGI era, I really appreciate them giving Annie and Clarabel more screen time. Plus, their voices are spot on to how I always imagined them.
I always loved how well annie and clarabels designs worked with thomas, they're such an iconic trio. But they also work great with other tanks like percy, duck etc. I also love that they act as a voice of reason for thomas, taking sort of a motherly role for him.
As much as I told myself as a kid that Annie and Clarabell are two British girls following Thomas…. I have to agree that they really are parental advisor aunts for Thomas. Lol
Annie & Clarabel are super underrated. I really love how they were utilised in CGI especially as aort of aunt/mentor figures to Thomas. As much I dislike All-Engines Go! They seem to be the only characters they didn't mess up from what I've seen.
Nice video, thank you! I’d suggest Gordon’s express coaches - they seem to have changed quite a bit especially in the cgi era (being taller and narrower). Maybe the old Express coaches too (the fully green ones that Henry pulls in ‘coal’. Apparently they were double sided - teak on one and green on the other!)
My first episode I watched, I’m glad you’re doing this and i immediately subscribed. Tbh as a kid who follows the tapes… I realize that they never really introduced them… they just became a part of Thomas when he got his branch line.
I recently bought an ertl Annie and Clarabel and they look so cool when put with ertl thomas,i hope soon we can get a video on the history of the troublesome trucks
Update on the resin models: There are actually two versions of the resin models one from 1998-2004 and 2005-2008. During the production of Calling All Engines, The Season 5 Annie and Clarabel models were found to be in poor conditions and emergency repairs were impossible, thus the newer resin models used from Season 9-12. Newer 2005 Resin models are owned by Hara, while the original 1998 Models are owned by ThomasTankMerch.
I believe I read on the wiki, that the RWS illustrations were based on Midland suburban bogie coaches. I'm not sure what prompted the change to Stroudley designs, other than kit availability, but they do work well with Thomas in the shows.
Fun Fact: Annie and Clarabel were Push-Pull Coaches in the Railway Series. Its why Thomas is sometimes seen going Backwards with a Red Tail Lamp I never knew that until I watched Tug's Trains
If y ou're going to start doing rolling stock, you might as well do some big special covering multiple rolling stock items at once, since a lot of them share history together, are one-offs, or are very, very short-lived. This is particularly the case among the trucks.
I was too old for Thomas when the first TV series aired but I watched it anyway because... of course I was going to watch it. It might have been the first shot in the title sequence that had me shouting at the telly, "Annie and Clarabel aren't four-wheelers!" It immediately soured me on the adaptations which, unlike the books, were devoid of charm, imagination, feeling or any interest in or enthusiasm for railways. Now bloody Mattel are trying to tell the Talyllyn and other preserved railways that they can't have Thomas days without paying an exorbitent royalty for use of "their" intellectual property. Presumably the accountants were in charge of creative decisions and it was just simpler and cheaper to make four wheel coaches.
Do you have a video on the Mountain Railway? In the book series with Culdee, Godred, etc. and why they didn’t make any stories about them. I’m really curious why the locomotives had two faces, one on either side of them.
I sometimes wonder why Annie and Clarabel's TV series model were designed and appeared quite different compared to how the Rev.W.Awdry made their models for his model train layout and the railway series books.
I've often wondered why Annie and Clarabel ended up as 4 wheel cars when the storybook illustrations and some early models show them with bogies. Any thoughts on that? BTW, I really enjoy your videos.
I would consider Annie and Clarabel to be the mentors for Thomas, just like how Luna is the mentor to Usagi or Serena and how Artemis is the mentor to Minako or Sailor V in Sailor Moon.
Cool video TrainBoy keep up the good work man I like watching your videos your videos are the best ever TrainBoy BTW how is your day doing So far TrainBoy 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍💛💛💛💛💛
I would guess why the changed direction on Annie & Clarabell in some of the 1st series episodes is becuase they painted their names on one side only. So that they in some episodes could be used as ordinary orange branch line coaches.
Like how you said about their height, the model coaches were smaller than the model Thomas as their roofs reached about under his cab roof. But in the CGI era, they're the same height.
Do you know that someone actually found 6 full episodes on a Spanish channel of Thomas and friends all engines go and actually translated and dub’d them into English and he post them on UA-cam only two are only in Spanish (yes James it’s in the show)
I like Annie and Clarabel because there’s such a simple design for basic coaches and I honestly love them more than the express coaches 😊😊😊
Same
Same
Who doesn't. Thomas would be funked without them
Same

I love any episodes where Annie and Clarabel act as parental advisors (or aunts) to Thomas
As much as I told myself as a kid that Annie and Clarabell are two British girls following Thomas…. I have to agree that they really are parental advisor aunts for Thomas. Lol
I always saw them as sisters to him
What splendid coaches! Much better than those beach huts on wheels." - Lady Hatt
No one said a word.
I do want to see Salty or Duncan, maybe even a mini episode on Smudger
Great episode of “The History Of”!! It was nice having an episode of some of the most important coaches here! Thank you for making this series!
Annie & Clarabel are super underrated. I really love how they were utilised in CGI especially as aort of aunt/mentor figures to Thomas. As much I dislike All-Engines Go! They seem to be the only characters they didn't mess up from what I've seen.
“Those coaches are old and uncomfortable! Why don’t you use them as beach huts instead?”
Never realized Clarabel was supposed to have a break compartment. I always wondered why Thomas never have a break coach. That answers the question!
Ahhh yes, the woman coaches who can now move by themselves in the reboot
Magically upgraded to Railcars
@@itsjayhere246 Gordon stole Thomas’ bitches
They are still no movable, its just that the animation is weird, but kinda good.
#tohellwithmattel
Random User, Timeless Existence, Shut up. Its not the best or the worst, its just "meh"
no guards were lost during the making of this
source: dude trust me
The only reason you can say that is because he managed to catch the train...
Finally, the history of a non locomotive character.
sir topham hatt: am i a joke to you?
Oh yeah, I forgot that we did sir topham hat. Thanks for reminding me.

Thanks Trainboy, I had always hoped for Annie and Clarabel to win a poll and get a video.
Fun fact: The Clarabel model of take along can be seen a space where it carries loads and suitcases of passengers
I really want to know more about all the orange branch line coaches.
Gotta love the friction they have with James in Journey Beyond Sodor. They just hate rocketing down the line with James.
Annie and Clarabelle are so charming.
Quite frankly its been a long time coming m glad u didnt make a poll this week cuz Annie & Clarabel always got the least vote but its finally here!
Nice video, thank you! I’d suggest Gordon’s express coaches - they seem to have changed quite a bit especially in the cgi era (being taller and narrower). Glad to hear the Great Discovery Thomas review will happen in future. I'm kinda glad this video was done first though. I love this style of video!
I've always wondered why Annie and Clarabel looked slightly different. I can't believe it never clicked to me that Clarabel was a break coach.
I love Annie and Clarabel, especially in CGI
Seeing you've done A&C you might as well do Henrietta next, don't forget to talk about Elsie too when you eventually talk about Toby's coaches
Next is the brake down train or the rolling stock (cars, van, tankers) or hey we might get the troublesome van
It would be amazing if we saw Spencer next by the way good video
After watching this I want to know the history behind Henrietta
I love Annie and Clarabel they are some of my favourite characters

Such a nice picture.
My first episode I watched, I’m glad you’re doing this and i immediately subscribed. Tbh as a kid who follows the tapes… I realize that they never really introduced them… they just became a part of Thomas when he got his branch line.
Finally! I’ve been voting for this video for the longest time :)
Your intro is the best
Yes!!! Favorite characters alongside Thomas, I voted for them every time!
I recently bought an ertl Annie and Clarabel and they look so cool when put with ertl thomas,i hope soon we can get a video on the history of the troublesome trucks
I just saw the community post what good timing
Finally! I wanted this for so long!
Glad to see the series return!
Hi Trainboy 👋 keep up the good content

Ayo another trainboy video
*nice.*
Finally the one I’ve been voting for all this time
The Wii Sports music at the end really adds to this.
Great choice video! Also your monocle Thomas icon is the best!
Fun Fact: Annie and Clarabel were Push-Pull Coaches in the Railway Series. Its why Thomas is sometimes seen going Backwards
with a Red Tail Lamp
I never knew that until I watched Tug's Trains
Well spotted on Annie's front buffer beam! I thought that nobody would ever mention this quirk.
I remember getting a CGI style Take-N-Play Annie at Toys R Us, being confused as hell because she didn’t have her shocked expression
I voted for it I'm so happy that you did Annie and Clarabel if you didn't i woild be sad thank you

I would love the next one to be the Troublesome Trucks as the next TTTE episode
3:19 HE MENTIONED MY FAVORITE EPISODE OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for this video I've been waiting
I didn't know I wanted this until you posted it. Well done! Much more interesting than another engine video! Not that I don't like those.
Do you have a video on the Mountain Railway? In the book series with Culdee, Godred, etc. and why they didn’t make any stories about them. I’m really curious why the locomotives had two faces, one on either side of them.
I'm so glad you did this anyway, I always voted for em.
WHO THE HECK DISLIKED THIS MASTERPIECE OF A VIDEO?
I’m glad you made this :)
Yay I was wondering when more of these would come out
The guard compartment projections are called a "duckets". Took me years to learn that.
I dunno why, but Annie and Clarabel just give off 'kind but fussy old lady' vibes
you know, my favorite character in the show is stephany and i wish they brought him back
Do Gordon's Express coaches next!
I would love to see one of these for the branch line coaches!
I sometimes wonder why Annie and Clarabel's TV series model were designed and appeared quite different compared to how the Rev.W.Awdry made their models for his model train layout and the railway series books.

Ahhh yes my fav 2 coaches
Really Awesome!!!

Why are theese videos popping up just now?
They are awesome!
i lov the Annie-oo and Clarabel-cloo, lehe. D: :3
I would like to see the expres coaches next
Do more of these videos there amazing 😉
hey trainboy are you planing to make a reboot review?
Like how you said about their height, the model coaches were smaller than the model Thomas as their roofs reached about under his cab roof. But in the CGI era, they're the same height.
When i was a kid i always get angry on the Tv on Thomas and Break down Train and Annie and Clarabel are gone and point this out to this day.
Since your start off doing rolling stock, maybe you could do a video about the troublesome trucks
Yay! Finally! (I voted for them)
Engine wise: Sir Handle He is next in line for SKR characters
Other character Wise: Troublesome trucks or Terence
Can’t have one without the other and their engine
With the wooden Railway Annie and claribel, I'd put them in the wrong order cause I thought they would prefer being able to talk to each other.
What would the world be without the 2 faithful coaches that is Annie & Clarabel
Impressive!!! keep up the good work
Do you know that someone actually found 6 full episodes on a Spanish channel of Thomas and friends all engines go and actually translated and dub’d them into English and he post them on UA-cam only two are only in Spanish (yes James it’s in the show)
Did anyone even noticed that any and Claire both got their buffers higher or lower to the ground before this video
Please can you a episode for stanlly
The only choachs to be made into take along and take n play
I really wanna see troublesome truck history
I’d be interested to see perhaps Murdoch’s, Arthur’s or more narrow gauge engines
annie and clarabel's original models season 1 1984-season 12 2008
annie and clarabel's gauge 3 models season 11 2007-season 11 2007
YES
“They complain from time to time”
Ah yes, Annie and Clarabel; the *KARENS OF SODOR*
Gotta love that intro
Still waiting for history of troublesome trucks.
Peter san, sir handle, and duncan would be nice
FINALLY!
