I feel like York needs some redemption after this. Do you think you could go back sometime and try a proper roast with a Yorkshire pudding from a pub or cafe on a Sunday?
Had Yorkshire pudding wrap from here twice (live nearby in Scarborough and often visit York as it's just glorious) and it was really rubbish both times. I can however recommend (not sure if it's a seasonal item though so you might have to wait a month or two) Forest in York which do a little light bite/starter type meal of mini Yorkshire puddings with sausages and courgettes of all things with luscious gravy. I also had a really really good Yorkshire pudding with onion gravy and bacon jam at Hawksmoor but that was in Manchester. If you're ever over Scarborough/Cayton way then the Farrier does a really nice Sunday lunch with huge home-made Yorkshire puddings, it's a little bit more expensive but huge portions and well worth it.
When I was young mum would serve Yorkshire and gravy to start. Then thmeat and veg after. And you could have Yorkshire as a dessert if there was any left and you had room.yorkshire can be served with anything.tak care.
Great video, I loved the selfie. Shame about the meal, but they can't all be good. When I was a kid, we used to eat Yorkshire pudding after the main meal, smothered in jam as a dessert. Keep your foreign escapades going, they're great entertainment.
We love your videos including the hop overs to other countries. You've inspired us to do a day trip to Amsterdam! You could try the best "brown cafe", :) maybe not!!
Hello EIE 👋 Sorry you had to experience that meal. I, too, have been to the other location. It is much better. Thank you for sharing your day with us 😊😊
Very generous review IMHO. I’ve also seen other reviews of this place. The moment you see a cardboard box for the food and wooden utensils instead of a plate with proper knife and fork, you can guess that the food is going to be less than average. In fact, the packaging was probably had more moisture content than the meal itself. I’d have walked out, thanks but no thanks.
You should treat yourself to the best rated roast dinner in leeds and do a review of it, and then you can maybe review other best rated roast dinners in Manchester, Liverpool ect see which city is the best.
Go to Cornwall for the authentic Cornish Pastie, bit of a trek for you from Leeds though but if you can go abroad then you can 😊go Cornwall, maybe do a 24hrs for £50 there as well.👍
I agree with some comments, when you go out for a roast its going to be hit or miss, those roast pots, look like a frozen brand, a good roast needs a bit of buttery mash, veg needs to be finished in bit of butter and salt to season, gravy is the king and usually made rom the drippings of the meat, , alot of that, takes the bland dryness away, veg beeds to be drained, back on stove dry water off, finish with butter, those roast, will never do, oven, or for quickness and ease par boil and deep fat fry, keep the crisp fluffy moisture as well, frozen roast, never the way, its like frozen chips to homemade potatoe chips, like the traditional chippy
Hello my friend lovely to see you, i agree with you that the meal was a little too dry, i think the meat should have been carved direct from the joint it would have been more juicy & succulent. The yorkshire pudding looked light & crispy though. The cost of the meal was about right but considering you only passed through few stations the rail fare was a little pricey. Loved the selfie with the bear!! & the variation in your videos , look forward to the upcoming ones too!!! Thank you for sharing, take care 💜💜 XX
Think this is the first time I've seen you be critical of the food! I'd have definitely just poured the gravy over everything though, roast dinners are pretty dry on their own.
What a shame it wasn't up to scratch, I've been to their other establishment near Kings Sq but its opposite Drakes fish and chips..do Drakes always wins. You being a Yorkshire lad have you had Yorkshire chopped salad with Sunday roast.. my nana from Ripon always made it 😋 Next time you are in York try Kalpakavadi in Fossgate .. best genuine southern Indian restaurant in England.. it's that good l dont try any other now.
Would love you to do the Hull ferry to Rotterdam and you get 6 hours in Amsterdam. Try the food on the ferry and Amsterdam. I think they call it Dutch dash from Hull
York is lovely. I visited a couple of years back. However , I don't think this was the best place to go for a Yorkshire pudding.Bloody wooden cutlery as well. I like these little daytripper videos.
I've seen the wrap version promoted as a Yorkshire burrito. I haven't tried it but it seems like it would, conceptually, be a great "drunk food" alternative to a kebab. Under such circumstances, the gravy would definitely forgive a multitude of evils.
The main thing i would sum up your meal as "TOO DRY!" ...i eat a similar meal opposite the Carhederal and also it was dry! Pity you did not have nice sliced fresh roast beef. The gravy was gravy but i wonder if it wasnt the best?... looked a little lacking but the Yorkshire itself looked ok .
The loud music must have been quite annoying - I was annoyed by it just by watching the video! 🙈 Although it might have been an inexpensive trip, it's sad what they did to the food. I'm looking forward to watching your next video and I hope you'll have better fortune with your next location. 👍
There should be no excuse for bad food mate. It's all about consistency. if it was good before it should be good now. can't beat Yorkshire tea mate. Best there is.
Gary Eats did this place and was equally disappointed. Tourist trap me thinks!! Plus how annoying was that "background" music... what a terrible place in general I'm afraid 😢😢😢
Journey time by coach is much less, but would have given you less time in York, We are talking a factor of 4. Anyways your meal looked OK, but if you said it was dry with undercooked veggies, who i am I to argue. Would I go there if I was in York? Not a chance. It's a shame that the Yorkshire puddings we see today are not a patch on the original, i.e. a tin with batter cooking un the oven under the roast meat with all the juices dropping into it. An then served as a starter with gravy, before having the meat, potatoes and veggies. Not these muffin size things served alongside the main.
What does that idiotic sign in the front window mean? "The Naked Roast. A roast dinner with no naughties, just meat! With roast potatoes, gravy and roasted veg."
I have never understood the point of Yorkshire Puddings, why does a dinner need them when there is already potatoes etc? They are very bland tasting too, never understood there existence. Anyway, thanks for another good video 👍🏻
Looks like you arrived quite early so probably most of the food is left-overs reheated from the previous day, and therefore dried out. Also, that sort of place is targeted entirely at tourists - mostly foreigners - who will pay any amount for any quality of food, so long as they can get an Instagram pic and tell their friend back home that they had “authentic” Yorkshire pudding (which they patently did not).
York has brilliant history, some very dark and most very positive. The graduates from York Uni are top notch. We all know of the dark history as well I assume. Braveheart Wallace sacked the city, and had the Governor of York executed.
The meat was kept warm, the potatoes were frozen, the carrots were frozen, u can tell by their uniform cut, a cheat way to do yorkies & roast really.......
As someone already mentioned. That place got a bad review by another food reviewer. Your video has confirmed to me it's a place to be avoided. Great looking food from the window but as you have shown in your video, what you see isn't what you get.
Where can you get the best Yorkshire Pudding?
Comment Below 😀
My grandmas were the best.

Crooked billet
In my kitchen, in sižzling beef dripping , yummy🎉
the owner needs to realise its a cafe not a nightclub, music would stop me wanting to eat there 😂
We go for the music, it’s good food and a good vibe, the music makes it 👌🏽
@@MartinAllen-k7u yes a quiet ambient sound is ok...but i agree..loud music nahhh not when eating
@@autumn5852 yes its personal choice and thank goodness we can choose our eateries
That looked disappointing but thanks for reviewing these places so we no where too avoid but another great video mate keep them coming 😊😊
Thanks! Will do
What about trying a Bakewell Pudding or Tart in Bakewell (Derbyshire)? Thanks for another great vlog xx

Three course Yorkshire pudding meal sounds great!
Thankyou for all your videos. I enjoy them all , take care.
Thanks for watching!
I think you were early and you got yesterday's food warmed up!
Maybe 🤔
You could be right because it’s usually delicious
@@autumn5852It's not a good place if they do that. Not acceptable.
Sunday dinner is always all about the gravy❤
I agree! 😀
@@everydayimeating3407that’s the way it’s supposed to be, otherwise it’s a pretty bland meal.
Keep doing the trip abroad, they’re great to watch! 🙂
Thank you for showing us around York. Sorry your food was under the heat lamps for so long. Great upload, as always.
Thanks for watching!

It wasn't a total loss; thank you for the city tour!
The city has some great character
Great video, at least you didn't have to take a plane to get there.
I know, right!
Definitely continue the travelling videos consider outside of Europe. Would be so much fun
Where do you think I should go?
As a Bloke from Stoke I prefer you UK adventures as they’re useful for me when I’m on my travels 😃👍🇬🇧

What a dry sense of humour, don't change mate :)
Moussaka in Greece next?? Or Francesinha in Portugal mate do that!!!!! 😮
Thanks as always for the video, you're one of my favourite food UA-camrs.
The music was way too loud there! The food looked disappointing 😢.
Ate there before. The Yorky puds are frozen, same as you can get in supermarket.
Clifords tower. Is another place, but only seen it from the road.
I like all your content the food competition and now food journeys
Thanks! 😀
Hi from Los Angeles! 🙋♀️
All I can say about your meal is : Ohhhh Dear!!! 🤦♀️ I hope your tummy didn't take revenge!
Packed in a takeaway box when you're eating inside. 😮

Go to London Chinatown and try sweet and sour pork. It's my favourite

Enjoying your walking tour of York. What a shame that food was sub par. And that loud music would have driven me nuts!
The music was really loud! Probably the loudest out of any place I've been so far
Should have got the coastliner bus from Leeds to York only £2😮
Bus would have been cheaper for sure!
In Canada so not really familiar with travel times and prices from the UK. Would it be cost prohibitive to try any of the Scandinavian area countries?
I may just do that!

Great vids as always so annoying when food is sub standard like the people who work there just dont care. And yes love the plane journeys
What I would like to know is, WHO would be surprised if a place like this went out of business 🤔
I thought you had reviewed this place before?

Congratulations. Very long sightseeing. One question, there are toilets in that restaurants, aren't they?
Yes there are lol
Some oil stations haven't 😂
Have you tried a Yorkshire Burrito?
I have not! What is it?
@@everydayimeating3407 everything in a Sunday Roast wrapped in a Yorkshire Pudding Burrito. If you google Yorkshire Burrito you'll see what it is. 😁

I might have to agree
You are too kind in your reviews, that was dreadful and I ve heard lots of other people say the same.

It’s delicious 👌🏽
Beef and potatoes are usually dry 😅 hence the gravy
Probably slightly annoying for you, but i actually live for your barcodes never working at the train barriers 😂
Hahaha
