I love you all so much for burying that little hare and not tossing it into the woods or just leaving it. Thank you for all your kindness toward animals on your property and thank you for standing up to those hunters.
I just love Amanda's humour. She always makes me laugh. Reusing the tiles from the chateau entryway is a good idea. I love Dominic and Uvea. Dominic is quite the character.
The creative journey and effort of reusing and recycling older materials not only saves money, but gives your home a unique, original flair! Love your videos
I smile whenever one of your videos pop up. I have found they have sneaked up to become a favourite of mine. Love the reality, dished up with soft good humour and no gimmicks. Keep them coming, love everything from the animals, your brocante finds to seeing your progress on the chateau every week.
My grandfather removed and reversed all the siding on his house in the 1970s! The house was built in the 1940’s. He got another 30+ years out of it. He passed away before it ever needed changing.
My vote is the DIY floor!! Once it’s down and gets some dirt ground in,will look original. 😅 You are being very smart with your money and getting it to stretch as far as possible and by reusing what is there in a new way! Bravo 👏 PS. That dresser is just stunning 😍
Adrian from Chateau de La Ferte removed the old flooring. It was tongue and groove. They treated it for woodworm, put it through a planet and re installed it. Turned out beautiful. I believe they used Osmo to finish the floors.
Isn't it funny? If someone chews with their mouth open, it's irritating. But listening to Dominick and Uvea chew their bananas is so cute 😊 Really love the new dresser from the brocante. What a wonderful buy!
I'm so glad your girls are reusing clothng etc... wonderful. And thank you again for being animals lovers. I'm glad to hear a little about the nuts/bolts of the fiscal aspects. Cheers!
You are both so kind to animals and I love the compassion that you show even towards the ones who have passed. Makes me think that humanity is still alive and caring. Thank you for caring for that poor hare!
If you are still renovating that cottage in 5 yrs. I'll be right here watching you. Absolutely love what you are doing. And, this includes your TNR efforts. Thanks!
I came across your channel last summer but haven’t commented until now in fear of sounding dumb or plain old boring … but felt the urge to mention how much I enjoy your channel and how much work you’ve put in to restore what was a unloved and very very tired chateau … I must admit I’m totally addicted and can’t wait to see how the cottage will look like once it’s completed …very excited !! Every week I find myself saying come on get on with it ..but then think these things take time to do it properly … besides you have the running of a chateau and a family to consider also .. Look forward to summer and what other projects outside you have planned .. Love love love your content …. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I agree. Fast Fashion is a problem. I’ve always loved second hand . Especially now as new is made so cheaply and not much imagination . I’m glad to see our younger generation wanting to learn craftsmanship. You both are so gracious yet firm about your property . The hunters should not push their luck. Glad you found the flooring alternative and reusing the old . Love your style !
I love that beautiful dresser, that was a real bargain for the price. Hope you have enough of your old tile to finish off some of the cottage floors. Kathy USA 🇺🇸
You could remove and reverse the floor, but you would need some specific tools, like a nice table saw, a router table, and a planer. As you probably already know, in the US you can get old recycled wood like that, just not as old, which has been refurbished for just such a purpose. So, although that floor is more than likely tongue in groove, with a proper router table, you could still make it tongue in groove after refurbing the pieces with a table saw and a nice planer. 🤔 I'm sure Lincoln totally supports me on this ..... 🤣
So.. I enjoy everything about your videos but the one thing that always moves me ( being an animal lover) is your empathy and compassion for all animals…❤🥹 ….oh, except for the poor cluster flies?! 🤣🤣🤣xo
I totally feel your pain... my husband thinks I'm hard of hearing because I always say "WHAT?" Mr. Mumbles is perfect!!! the whole hunting thing would cause major neighbor issues with me!!
The brocante piece looks beautiful. It's hard to find this type of craftsmanship and these timbers these days at reasonable prices. Living here now France and Italy we've decided that all our purchases need to be made within the EU. It can be hard sometimes but we think it's well worth it.
That dresser is a gem, love it! And that stamp from the old railways, a treasure in my eyes. The price great, you wouldn’t get such a piece for such a reasonable price here in Ireland.
Was nice to see the group of deer, they clearly feel safe on your land. I would really struggle with the concept of hunters allowing their dogs to run free like that. I know boar was a nuisance, invasive animal and people like to eat them, but is there not a better way? I’d worry about them getting your animals. As far as prices, it’s refreshing to see a frugal yet beautiful renovation approach.
Amanda and Lincoln, love your video. You are kind people to care for the Hare 😢. Your projects are so interesting, like the currently your cottage. I look forward to watching the next video, and the next video….thanks for sharing!
I really enjoyed this Episode. Re-using the things you have is absolutely the way to go. Like Lincoln said, the old stuff is better. I love the idea of using the paneling for waynescoating. We can’t wait to satay in your cottage! Kidding not kidding.
My previous home was a craftsman style built in 1915 with a 25' long front porch with clear Douglas Fir tongue and groove wood that was badly weather damaged. I discovered that when the house was built they floored the crawl spaces at four corners of the second floor with this same type wood and it was pristine as the spaces had been sealed for 55 years. I was in there to insulate so ended up removing the floor before insulating between the joists, and it gave me enough "new" wood to replace the entire porch!
It was nice to just follow you around and liesurely listen to your plans as well as accomplishments. The property surrounding the Chateau has a good combination of woods, some standings of just trees, and lovely meadows....How peaceful and beautiful.
I learn something new everytime I watch you two. Repurposing and buying 2nd hand is really the way to go. Do people in France ever have ‘garage sales’? My first home was furnished from thrift stores, garage sales, church bizarre, even the trash days! It was actually my favorite house and I have most of it still. That bureau you got for 90 € was a Steal and absolutely gorgeous. see you next time❤❤❤
Hi from Florida! What a journey with your chateaux & I have loved every minute of it 😊 So glad to see you reusing all you can, it's original & fitting❤
Reusing what you have around the chateau is always a good idea. I know you will do as much as you can with what you have to keep costs down. A lot of things were made better back then and you want to keep it authentic for the period that it was made. It's going to look good with both your style and talent. Look forward to it.
I am so glad to see your video! The cottage is going to be so nice! I was hoping that you were going to reuse the stone sink. I would be upset if hunters were trespassing on my land too. No shooting near my kids playing! We have our property posted here in the US, but sometimes one of the farmers dogs get loose and come to visit. Lucky we know where they live! I would want to fence where the kids play, or let them play in the walled garden. You both are doing a super job! Everything that you do is bringing the Chateau to life! We lose bunnies to wildlife here too. I hope that you both have a good week!
Love your videos! I also love the outbuildings and the potential that they have. You both are so blessed to have such a beautiful chateau with all the land and buildings. I look forward to every video.
Hi ... so happy to see this latest one - I have been binge watching your channel this week. Lincoln - can you draw up a simple diagram with names of chateau rooms for the three floors for us? Thanks - be safe ...
I have recently subscribed but what a great channel. I just love the honesty. The big plus is the rescuing of animals as well. Going back now to look at the older videos.
LOVE your videos! My husband and I started watching UA-cam during the pandemic for gardening information and ended up dreaming of homes and plots like yours! Keep up the amazing work and thank you for posting all❤. More donkeys!!!
All this heavy lifting you two will look like body builders, lol. Seriously, I don’t know how you keep up day after day. I’m. guessing that as you complete each project it gives you satisfaction having a good outcome to enjoy. You two have done so much, love your videos. Your compassion for animals is such an admirable trait, thank you.
That dresser was a woodworking masterpiece. I love how you get your back up about the hunters! Go get 'em! Those hunting dogs must have a sad life, I think they keep them outdoors packed into a kennel. Quite the opposite of my dog sleeping on the couch right now under a blanket.
I just don't know what to say. In general I say that I love you and love everything you do. Specially attention to details. Can't wait for next episode.
I laugh every time you two sit down and chat ....so natural and entertaining. Ahh...I wish I lived in France because I'd be at the Brocante every day...the cement benches and fountains, oh my gosh, I'd give anything to grab some of those! I don't blame you for being upset about dogs and men running around your property with guns!
Even the kitchen cabinets could be from recycle since many people pull out cabinetry and replace it. Even if you just get the cases, you could make new doors from the wood of some of the very inexpensive but beautiful wardrobes no one seems to want.
if reclaiming materials are way overpriced you can without guilt mix it good worn or traditional looking new materials. If you mix old and new it tends to make the new feel a bit older.
I had a cat that hung itself. I was there in seconds literally as I saw it happen. The stiffening process had already started making it impossible to attempt first aid.
It's nice to hear you're "using what ya got" and daughters buying vintage clothing. Many of us have been doing that and shopping "second hand" for years and years and years! It's like the song says, "everything old is new again!" 🎶🎵🎶🎵
That dresser is stunning, and so is the price. Those hunters and dogs are so worrisome. I was concerned for you both out there. It was nice to give the hare a burial. Hopefully, it can RIP. The price for the fountain was out of the ball park for sure. I like the stone floor for 1300€. I hope you can turn those boards over for the floor and save some money. By all means, we need to upcycle or reuse what we have on hand. Just today, I noticed 6 cut tulips on sale for 10 dollars Canadian. Last year, they were 6 dollars. Good grief. Best wishes.
This is my Super Bowl! 😅
Right on!!!
True u r. 🇨🇦
😂❤ mine too!
Me too
Me, as well. Sports has lost it's edge.
Too much hype, not into the celebs.
No longer Superbowl, now Superficial Bow.
I love you all so much for burying that little hare and not tossing it into the woods or just leaving it. Thank you for all your kindness toward animals on your property and thank you for standing up to those hunters.

Glad you like them!
My grandfather removed and reversed all the siding on his house in the 1970s! The house was built in the 1940’s. He got another 30+ years out of it. He passed away before it ever needed changing.
We removed and reversed the treated wood on our 15' x 60' deck at the suggestion of a carpenter. It looked brand new, lasted 20 years.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
My vote is the DIY floor!! Once it’s down and gets some dirt ground in,will look original. 😅
You are being very smart with your money and getting it to stretch as far as possible and by reusing what is there in a new way! Bravo 👏 PS. That dresser is just stunning 😍
Thanks so much! 😊
I love you two. You make me laugh. You also have incredible taste and you two have a wonderful relationship!
😃
Adrian from Chateau de La Ferte removed the old flooring. It was tongue and groove. They treated it for woodworm, put it through a planet and re installed it. Turned out beautiful. I believe they used Osmo to finish the floors.
I meant a planer, not planet.
Love you both and all your precious animals ❤. Thank you for the entertainment you provide.
Thanks for watching!
Your 90 euro dresser is gorgeous!!! Wow!🎉❤
I’d have a hard time getting work done inside , you’d find me outside working at any opportunity on your property. Sigh, I just love it.🥰
The only thing I can say to sum up everything in this video is, stunning and love everything. PS, not the hunters! xx
Isn't it funny? If someone chews with their mouth open, it's irritating. But listening to Dominick and Uvea chew their bananas is so cute 😊 Really love the new dresser from the brocante. What a wonderful buy!
Exactly! 😂

Yay Id rather watch this than the super bowl😂...who is this Taylor Swift anyway?
She’s anti Trump which is her best quality. 😉
She's the girl whose boyfriend is another Super Bowl champion! :)

Cottage Dresser is incredible.

Not boring at all.
@@phyllisburrell8661 well thank you .. 🫶🏻
Haven't decided yet what I like more, the chateau or its outbuildings. Tend to outbuildings incredible charms.
@@christiankoellner7542 the outbuildings are very charming … the cottage should look amazing when it’s finished …

thank YOU FOR THE JOURNEY
lovely opening shot--. I really appreciate the photography and the editing. Wow==and of course what you guys are doing.
Thanks :)
Love you and Mr. Mumbles! 💕
😂
Dominick is so funny. We get close ups of his nose and mouth when getting treats. It's just too cute.
You are like Lauren Becall who said, "It's not that I mind spending money, it's that I mind wasting money."
😂
I love that beautiful dresser, that was a real bargain for the price. Hope you have enough of your old tile to finish off some of the cottage floors. Kathy USA 🇺🇸

Your videos are always so peaceful and interesting. I love your style of filming. And I get my donkey fix.
You might want to get some bright, flourescent dog jackets to put on your dogs during hunting season so they don't accidentally get shot.
I always enjoy your fantastic videos!!!!!!
The brocante piece looks beautiful. It's hard to find this type of craftsmanship and these timbers these days at reasonable prices. Living here now France and Italy we've decided that all our purchases need to be made within the EU. It can be hard sometimes but we think it's well worth it.

Love the dresser and how you reuse and recycle items. Flipping the floor boards is worth a try. Love seeing all your animals ❤❤❤❤❤

You might want to look into a Wood Pallet Tool Breaker Pry Bar Puller, to remove your floor. Seems to save a lot of breakage.
My favorite channel!! Ugh those hunters are awful - can you adopt all those hunting dogs? :)
I always enjoy your videos, love the piece of furniture you found also, it is beautiful, and I can't wait to see what's next.God bless you both.

I have two Aussie doodles and they were chasing a hare this AM but they couln't get it. and they are fast. the younger one is a good mouser.
I love that flooring
Another good story. I surprised the wood worm damage was only on the back of the dresser
if reclaiming materials are way overpriced you can without guilt mix it good worn or traditional looking new materials. If you mix old and new it tends to make the new feel a bit older.
Was thinking with hunters on your land should wear some orange vests while u r out and about!!!!
You enjoy working day after day, always smiling never negative. Congratulations 😊
