Part of John Wick is that he is so precise that all the pressure of the pencil would be so perfectly straight it wouldnt snap. You are a normal person and cant perfectly stab. Its inhuman to be able to stab a pencil like that which is John Wicks character. The best part is that its a normal pencil. Still a good video tho.
Would not matter, the material is not stronger than bone, the ear one could be done, the skull ones could not. The pencils would pop/snap from the pressure, especially the brittle graphite centers
To be fair, most pencils are made from soft weak woods, but you can get far stronger woods in pencils. In Asian pencils are generally quite a bit stronger then European/American due to a stronger wood commonly used there.
Ideally you should be able to screw the top to either end , so that you can carry it with the actual ball point exposed and carbide tip safely hidden. Carrying it always with carbide tip out is not very clever IMO. but its a cool window breaker.
Been, futilely, trying to talk a machine shop into making me rope-grooved steel nunchucks for years now. I'm not surprised you had difficulty getting that made; the insurance companies get antsy when the machinists get medieval 😂
Honestly, I wish two things. 1: it was yellow. Black just doesn't feel the same. 2: Instead of a tungsten carbide point, you made it a mechanical pencil with 0.5mm lead coming out of the tungsten carbide tip. That would still have plenty of penetration power but would actually be a pencil.
FYI, I just flew united yesterday and I have an essential tremor in my hands which I use a weighted pen for, looks normal, not a tacticool pen or anything. Regardless, this is the second time I had to explain to tsa that my weighted pen wasn’t to assault the crew but to help me write. Moral, stick this pencil into your check in bag or it might go home with a tsa agent.
You know what I love about wick. He doesn’t just kill people with style. He dresses nice while at it. That suit was not cheap looking. But just imagine that your his target and he just disappears immediately once you notice him and changes into a nice suit and tie.

well punching through a real ear canal would be easier than on the skull replica just a fyi there's nothing there but a tiny hole for the nerve to go through so you could possibly push a regular pencil through it with some force. A good test would be a paint stir stick with a 1/16 inch hole in it and the pencil tip placed in the whole and give it a good whack against say a melon
I mean he did use a Ticonderoga. That is the best pencil to use if you're going to use it as a weapon. Those damn things maintain their point and they are durable. Remember playing pencil wars in elementary and jr high?
you know you can get pure tungston carbid TIG welding electrodes and just grind a profile right? you can get them from like 0.040 to 1/4"+. I run 1/16" and keep them sharp as needles. they come in 10 packs
Meanwhile all I can think is. I bought one of these "inkless Pen"'s on amazon ages ago and they still exist for around $12 on amazon. essentially they are metal pencils.
I make a pencil that’s stabby. I loved the idea of the everlasting pencils on Amazon, but hated the bodies, so I bought some 1/4” od stainless steel tube and a M5 x 0.5 (fine thread) tap, and Bob’s your uncle. You can insert this setup into the wood of your choice. If you have the talent, you could bore out a #2 pencil and install this rod into it, giving you an alloy metal tip and stainless steel body which is more than strong enough to stab, but also writes.
I have a tactical defense pen that looks exactly like a fine point Sharpie permanent marker. Except the tip is three times as long and made of G10 composite ground to an almost needle-like point. It's completely non-metallic so it can be carried through metal detectors anywhere. You never know when you'll need to defend yourself on an airplane, or in a courtroom or hospital ER. It would be great to see a non-metal pencil so you could go John Wick with something that looked like a real pencil. The last time I went through a metal detector I had 2 knives with steel blades on me that I forgot to leave in the car. When security wanded me after I set off the metal detector, they thought the small knife clipped horizontal near the front my belt was my belt buckle setting it off. But not everyone is that bad at their job. A pencil would still get by if it wasn't made of metal.
You recreated a phillips screwdriver shaft with a cone at the end. A wood or solid body plastic pencil with a clay/graphite lead will work, but not all, especially not a dollar store pencil made in China. There are few places on the skull where this will work with varying degrees of damage: temples, ears, eyes and nostrils, and technique is critical . The throat is a better target, (A ballpoint pen will also work, same caveats.)
You can stab through the eyes, since the back of the eyes is some of the thinnest bone. Also the ear is easy access. Next to that the base of the skull is also easier to stab into. Don’t ask me why I know.
I just got a FPP the other day told my boss about it he told his buddies and they all wanted one 😂 also told my dad he’s getting 2 he told his work buddies they all thought it was neat too Seeing this i might have to get a pencil if there not gone 🤣🤙
the second I heard it was for sale, and that I was going to New York, I knew I would need some sort of personal protection, so I bought it, the FN Pen will be mine soon, honestly I want to see if it could pierce through anti-stab vests or steel plating
a definate improvement over a wooden stick, and absolutely cool as a prop and nod to the character, but the problem is that if you did try to use it in self-defence, it would get stuck in the attacker after one stab due to suction -- thus you're fucked you stab once. the solution could be a discrete channel running the length of the blade which would allow airflow, or some way to make the entry wound rough like combat knives do. also, at least some amount of texture would help with gripping it. i don't see it as viable as even a last resort weapon because of those problems. good work anyway though, I don't mean to criticize it too harshly, and it's still very cool.
I bought one and its definitely my edc pen! Couple suggestions, design it so the clip can attach on either end, and instead of an eraser tip, if you could get a stylus pad on there.
Ordered several FN pens + pen clips. LA42047350 is one of my order numbers. It's a whacky & improvised, but definitely unsafe idea - but trying to miniaturize explosive reactive armor down to something that could go on a test dummy to see if its viable at all, might be interesting.
