    Nice work James and Joel, and also thanks! Me and a buddy put a lot of fish in the boat using this technique, learned because of you guys! Trolled by a lot of guys who said they had only caught one or two fish casing to the willows. We'd just laugh...

      It is that time of year again! With a couple more warm days the fish should be on this bite again. I know James and Joel plan to check it out later this week.

    I just might try that on the Koshganog this weekend it might be hard because everybody and their brother is going to be on that lake.

    To all those asking about 4 lines I live in MN and since it borders Wisc you can have 2 lines per person out inland waters only 1 line

    • @cadebenson6942
      @cadebenson6942 8 років тому

      I live in Wisconsin and we can have 3 lines per person on most bodies of water. this helps when ice fishing for northerns.

    Do you think this would work on a lake like Green Bay? I've never thought about going this fast for walleyes. But after last year with all the dang Sheepshead I'd be willing to give it a try.

    Each angler holding a MN license may fish 2 lines on Lake Pepin. It is a border water under special regs.

    Do you troll down stream or is it strictly up stream. As I don't have a fishing partner at this time it'd be hard to handle the boat and land fish at the same time goin up stream.

    • @InDepthOutdoorsTV
      @InDepthOutdoorsTV  8 років тому

      It always depends on the other conditions we are faced with, but yes we go up and downstream. Boat control is a huge priority, and with more practice by yourself you will have it down in no time.

  • @InDepthOutdoorsTV
    @InDepthOutdoorsTV  11 років тому

    When the wind is blowing in the fish can be right on the rocks. You'll need to be aware of private property and all that but yeah, if you can get to the fish, you'll be able to catch them on the same crankbaits.

    What would your set up be on Lake Erie going in deeper water. Fishing down from 30 -60 ft. down. Not a #5 shad rap I am guessing . Thanks for the advise every little bid helps to us guys that are casual fishing.

    First time watching your Videos and I love them Very good. I'm Hooked! When you say a #5 shad Rapp there a lot od different versions can you tell me more specific on what your using. Deep or shallow and so on. I looked in Cabela's and it was confusing on what shads to use

    • @cadebenson6942
      @cadebenson6942 8 років тому +2

      #5 is the symbol for the size. when you buy a shad rap, on the flap at the top of the box it will say S0-5 S0-7 and so on. the number is the size. they are using deep shad raps as you can indicate by the size and appearance of the lip. the color they are using is orange craw. I happen to live on the Wisconsin side about 15 miles from lake Pepin. I hope you read this and it helps you.

    Looked like pretty dirty water - do you tie your braid right to your cranks or were you using a flouro leader of some kind? Great video guys!

    • @spyder357

      I always tie cranks directly to braid, cleaner running IMO. Use power pro for my trolling lines.

    First time I’ve watched your videos,very informative. Does your trolling speed have all to do with how you get your lure at a certain depth?

    • @Jason-mh7dy
      @Jason-mh7dy 4 роки тому

      I think you're on to it. They made a statement that it was the speed that made the white bass and drum not hit it. I chuckled. They're speeding up and getting the baits below them and down to the walleye. If they put on a flicker minnow or tail dancer they could troll at 1.5- 2 mph

    • @deckmonkey1459
      @deckmonkey1459 4 роки тому +1

      Speed has nothing to do with depth. Line length and diameter as he mentioned does. If you watch how Precision Trolling tests cranks it has a good explanation. The speed triggers the more aggressive male fish which is why they are mostly smaller.

    How can you troll 4 or more rods without getting tangled.

    • @InDepthOutdoorsTV
      @InDepthOutdoorsTV  8 років тому

      Proper placement of the rods and the length of line you are running really helps keep messes to a minimum.

    Can you fish 2lines per guy in the summer in Minnesota!?!

    • @spenceevans5685
      @spenceevans5685 8 років тому

      Not legally :)

    • @ronk4537
      @ronk4537 8 років тому

      It would depend on which license they have. If they have a Wisconsin license then yes they can fish the regulations that Wisconsin has; while if they had a Minnesota license they'd have to fish Minnesota regulations. On the Mississippi which lake pepin is a part of the state line in regards to fishing goes to the opposite shore railroad tracks. So if you want to fish more lines on any given sunday, then purchase a 3 day license from Wisconsin and you can fish both sides of the river/lake.

    • @InDepthOutdoorsTV
      @InDepthOutdoorsTV  7 років тому +1

      Matt Weinhagen Lake Pepin is a Border Water. It is legal for Minnesota Anglers with a Minnesota license to fish two lines on open Water.

    How do you know how fast to go?

    • @ronk4537
      @ronk4537 8 років тому

      Experiment, Start slow and work your way up in speed on each pass. The other day I was trolling at 2.5 and was catching nothing, slowed to just under 2 and bam bam and bam there they were. Other days I'd go to 3.25 and get them.

    • @KDOGGER11
      @KDOGGER11 7 років тому

      There isn't a specific recipe but you can get a starting point depending on water temp/location. If you're a newbie on the body of water, start high (3.5-4 mph if high temps and, depending on area) and work your way down. Or start slow, very slow, and work your way up. Have confidence in the presentation and keep at it. Baits need to be wobbling and diving. If you're marking fish and no bites, moderately change the presentation till it happens. Keep a note pad in the boat and write down whatever you think is relevant. After a few times out look for patterns and adjust accordingly.

      I have found that jerk trolling with husky jerks anywhere from 2.5 mph to 3.5 mph is deadly in northern Ontario....the higher speed allows you to cover more area and the constant jerking causes the lure to dart forward and then stop and dart forward.....irressistable to walleye...often hit as the lure stops

    • @greggroberts6631
      @greggroberts6631 Рік тому

      this method has increased my strikes and catches by quantums

      PS I use a 19ft boston whaler with a 150hp Yamaha 4 stroke (I also have an 8hp 4 stroke trolling motor and a bow-mount gps electric motor). But i use the 150hp exclusively for jerk trolling with raps!!

    In Minnesota, you can only have ONE rod/reel/hook per person during fishing season. (You can have 2 in ice fishing...)

    • @Jason-mh7dy
      @Jason-mh7dy 4 роки тому

      Run a deeper lure. Try a flicker minnow, tail dancer, reef runner, etc. Something that will get you down 14' or more and dont be afraid to bump bottom. White bass and walleye are often in the same areas but the walleye usually hug bottom and the bass are suspended
