I had the opportunity to upgrade to a backup camera when I put the new radio in specifically for connecting the trailers. Best thing I ever did! Well that and an electric tongue jack

I’m sure that’ll be part of my ultimate tow rig that I plan to build one day. But for now, I’ll do the walk of shame back and forth till I get it lined up…lol

With that angle I having had truck hooked up and raised the tongue to get a better ramp angle

That was the first thing I tried. Then I flipped the ball on the hitch, to raise it up, still wasn’t quite enough. So that brought out the rhino ramps. Gonna get a set of the aluminum ramps like Bry got eventually. They’re 6 feet long compared the 4 footers that come with ever trailer it seems

Do you have airbags on your truck? If you do, you can air them up to raise the back of your truck and lower the rear of the trailer. They also prevent squatting.

I do not have airbags on the truck, I’ve thought about it a few times… I did, however, a few years ago, replaced the stock 1750 rear springs with 2350 rear springs. I never had any issues with my buddy’s trailer in San Diego but I think his deck height was lower than mine is. With his trailer I had to run the ball lower. Pretty sure the trailer deck height is the difference. With the almost 1 ton leafs on my truck, it hardly squats and what it does usually levels it out nicely. Ultimately my plan is to build a better truck to use for a tow rig. The 5.3L and 4L60E just don’t cut it, not to mention the axle, which I’m sure is bent by now with what I’ve put it through. Still working out details and options for the future. My first goal was the trailer… so not I can start bringing home more projects that I’ve had to pass on with no way to get them home.
