Mark Winger : The Hero or the Monster
Вставка

- When an intruder broke into the Winger home and attacked Donnah, her husband Mark shot and killed him, making himself look like a hero. Over the years though, the evidence would prove that was far from the truth.

Mark Winger, monster or hero? Well, I'm not watching "this is Heros"
I really hope he spins off a positive channel some day tho. Just telling the stories of people doing the right thing at the right time.
Exactly.
😂I'm gonna use context clues here and assume..
Yeah dude! 😆
😂😂😂
its horrific that a husband could see his wife as nothing more than a broken baby making machine…rest in peace Donna and Roger
Wonder how things would've gone if they did IVF (test tube baby) because it was very successful starting about 1983.
@@truenokillearly days it was extremely expensive.
@admiralsnackbar69 yeah back then even when it started we charged $15000 per try! I'm not sure what it is now.
The moment you said that Mark told her to write down the whole story in detail to document it, I knew he murdered her. He saw this as his opportunity, and if there was plausible deniability in the victims own words, he was golden.
I have very bad depression again at the moment. I feel so alone. Thanks Jiles for your videos, they help me. You give my mind a break, and the Monsters community is really friendly too. ❤ Update: slowly getting to each of your comments to respond and say thank you ❤️ I can't believe how supportive and kind everyone is. We are not alone.
Depression sucks so much! It distorts everything you experience in the world. I am not giving tips, I am sure you know them all, and sometimes all you can do is sitting out the ride, and keep strong. Know you are not alone ❤
@TinkerTaylor-zv1ml thank you for being supportive ❤️ it helps to be reminded of everything you wrote, it's easy to forget and to feel like it's my fault. You knew exactly what to say. I hope you're doing ok wherever you arw and whatever you're going through. ❤️
I'm sorry you feel so depressed.i wish I could pack up my guinea pigs and come cheer u up! ❤❤❤❤ from delaware. Watch Robin Williams live on Broadway. HBO special and you will miss yourself laughing. YW🥰😍
Stay well Miss VH, this will pass. Thinking of you
I suffer from it, too. I'm so sorry you're having a hard time. Everything is so exhausting. Don't be hard on yourself. ❤
Rest in peace Donna. You would have been an amazing Mum to your little girl if your selfish husband hadn't taken you away from her. You deserved so much better than that devil in disguise.
Don't forget the pawn in his plan, Rodger Hartington.

The first forensics were sloppy. Kudos to the cops who insisted on reopening the case. RIP Donnah and Roger.
It's ridiculous how the initial police investigation didn't show anything out of the ordinary. Had ppl not came forward, he would have gotten away with a DBL murder.... Crazy... Thanks Jiles 🧡💛❤️
It's truly concerning how the initial police investigation missed such critical details. Thank goodness for the people who came forward to ensure justice was served. Jiles' work in shedding light on these issues is invaluable.
Why did it take the cops years to see giant signs right from the start! When the rimes first happened it appears that the Investigators didn’t investigate at all! It seems like they asked Mark what happened and when he told them they just took his word for EVERYTHING not even bothering to look at the evidence or even do a proper interview at the Police Station!
Some police departments are just lazy, what it’s weird is that the insurance company paid the life insurance without investigating
Laziness at its finest!!! And of course they’re a Union so there’s definitely some slackers on duty!!
Or maybe watching all of this in a well-packaged murder doc makes the little details WAY more obvious. Hindsight is always 20/20 - real life seldom is.
@@derkeheath5172 so a police department needs to watch a documentary in order to know that they need to do a murder investigation instead of just believing a story from the sole survivor of a scene with 2 murders? Ok…
Sometimes, its hard to believe that a person could be so damn diabolical - but we see it here over and over again.
RIP Donnah and poor Mr Roger the unsuspecting cab driver
2:44 Nuclear safety at Springfield? Did he replace Homer?
Good morning, Jiles, and a great Thursday to all!🌄😊
…”the baby they were hoping for was proving to be more elusive than expected”…LOL ! You’re greatest line ever !
I guess that adopted baby stayed with the second wife (?)
"Splatter Pattern" What a great name for a punk band.
Spatter. Blood spatter analysis, like Dexter Morgan
No it's splatter punks.... Name that movie lol
Working from 5pm-5am this video came in clutch last hour of work
Why worse schedule ever?
@@indiatastic I work these hours for an emergency room. Not everyone can be 9-5
Just devastating, a lovely young woman taken so that he wouldn't be inconvenienced with a divorce.
I'm stunned by the incredible selfishness of all these affairs. So sad for Donnah. She finally has her much treasured baby and so little time to adore her. That's beyond cruel. A monster indeed.
This is Monsters! The only channel I adjusted my sleep schedule for my viewing delight!
Ahhh…love a “true” true crime follower 😁
Roger was invited by Mark to use him as the decoy then accuse him of the murder
Jiles, your storytelling eases my tension better than a prescription.
Your commitment to telling these stories with dignity and respect shines through in every episode. It's a powerful way to remember the victims.
That poor little baby was ripped away from TWO mothers before she was 4 months old. Maybe she can't remember that early trauma, but I guarantee it effects her to this day 😢
And then later her dad 😢
Came here to say just that. This happened to me under different circumstances. I'm here to say that kind of trauma *never* goes away.
@@cdes1776 : My two babies are adopted out of foster care & believe me when I say this; millions of kids share a similar trauma! I sincerely pray for your continued healing & for good & understanding people present in your life! ❤️
@@lexirae7889 It takes a special kind of person to adopt foster children! I hope they bring you much joy. Ironically, I adore children although I couldn't have one. I learned to become my own mom and worked with small children. Babies and tots rooms were my favourite in child care. Thanks for your comment, it's appreciated.💕
@cdes1776 : My kids are my life! They bring my husband & I immense joy ❤️ I'm glad you channeled that desire for family into working with kids--- you're making a big difference in their lives.
just got off work at 1am my time. refreshed my feed to watch something while i eat, and i saw this was posted “3 minutes ago”… LET’S GO!
That’s the greatest feeling ever when those two items time perfectly! 🎉
Woah, exactly the same scenario here. I’m a bartender and got home at 1 am lol. eating dinner as well, cheers
thanks for the blog post
Fantastic! This is MONSTERS! Thanks Jiles 👏👏👏
"It's NEVER a mannequin"......love it! And the very best thing about your always excellent videos, Jiles, is your impeccable pronunciations & clear diction....such a joy to listen to compared to most of today's films....thank you!👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Jiles your story telling ability gives me goose bumps every time. I hope the Netherlands is treating your family well brother.
For the Algorithm situation.
Thanks for the content.
RIP to the victims and healing for those left behind.
nuclear power job in Springfield? Homer Simpson out here running amock
I live in this town. Famous story here. The shuttle service was the local Springfield cab company and Ive worked there too but not back then. They don't discuss it lol. It is generally agreed among cab drivers who were here then that Harrington was an odd duck but possibly not a murderer.
Woohoo, Hey Aussie Monsters Squad....always love a bonus episode. Grab ya blankies🇦🇺🧌💙
I clicked so fast! I've heard this particular story a dozen times but no one tells stories like Jiles. Sad, tragic story though
Thank you Jiles!! Excellent as always 🌟
Theres a WOW moment around every corner of this one, great episode as always Jiles, thank you.
I’m SO GLAD you covered this case!!! One of my absolute favorites.
Your username! 🥇 😂
Thank you for making and sharing this video with me.
Your research and hard work is very much appreciated.
All the best.
🙂🐿🌈❤️
I think one of the most scary facts about this case.....
Is to think that a monster like that...a man capable of the unthinkable....
Is running around safeguarding nuclear facilities!! ?!!......😮
Thanks Jiles ❤️.......
And yea this Mark was a piece of work .
Thanks
Thanks so much!
It’s so weird hearing this case broken down. I grew up hearing about this case a lot because my mom worked at the Springfield police department. I remember being about 7 standing in our dining room and her and her friend were talking about it. This would of been around the time he was in jail
THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS CASE !!!
Good morning Jiles❤, I'm obsessed with your chanel, you do an amazing job 😊

Cheers from Maine USA 🇺🇸
Hey Monsters 👋
Excellent timing! This one is a doozy!
I’ve been dying to see someone cover this case from my hometown.
It’s been covered repeatedly
@@KristenDETW not nearly as much as others, and highlights deficiencies in the way crimes are covered in the media as well as investigated by police.
Love this podcast! Keeping me company while a storm rages outside!! Thanks 😊
Crazy I just watched this story on a different crime show yesterday but your always give more info and I love your stories better
I'm glad you find the stories I share informative and engaging. It's important to have thorough coverage of these cases to understand their full impact. Thank you for your support!
The original investigation team really screwed up. Giving Mark the opportunity to father some children before ending up behind bars.
Jiles is the murder mystery homie!
Late night cookiny glad I stayed up to catch this Episode
So proud of you, Jiles. Love everything about your channel! Congratulations!
Perfect timing. Thank you ❤❤❤
I 2nd that
Police incompetence once again made this case longer than it had to be. Poor Donna and poor Bailey who never got to have a life with her mother.
Thanks monsters I love ur voice always cheers me up!! Xoxoxo
Thanks Jiles, another super episode.
Well told! How weird it must be for the 3 younger children...
Rest in peace 🕊️ 🕊️ to the both of you prayers for both families and friends.
Made it right on time! Morning yall!

Good morning Jiles and fellow monsters
Love your stuff, Jiles
Jiles you're awesome !!!!
Was this the case where in the 911 call, you could hear Roger making noises and then I think Mark hangs up in order to go shoot him a second time?
Happy Thursday 🎉
You are one of my favorites.. Sending wellwisher from South Africa xxx
Fantastic channel!
This case was on Forensic File
Good morning!
Nice episode. Nice shirt!
Wild to see a story about my town of Springfield. I missed the first couple minutes, and there are so many Springfields. There's one in Missouri, so the St. Louis airport didn't tip me off, but I was wondering how far Springfield MO is from St. Louis, because we ARE two hours away. Then you said Pleasant Plains, and I was so excited LOL!
Mark is a piece of work. Smh Rest in peace sweet Angel❤
This is fantastic jiles❤
Good job Jiles as usual 👍🙂
Thank you Jiles🙏🏼💔🕊️
nah the police did a terrible job investigating from the beginning . now once yall reopen the case , yall question ALL of these stories . why werent they questioned from the beginning including how he shot the alleged intruder .
Every time I meet or hear of someone named Mark, they turn out to be a psycho!!
Woohoo! Love "Monsters!" Thanks Jules :)!
Keep up the good work.
What about the drivers erratic behavior during the ride from the airport? Did that really happen? The story makes it seem like Donna was genuinely rattled by a crazy person whose behavior she actually documented. Also, why would this driver come over to the house of people who had caused him to get suspended from his job? A lot of this doesn’t make sense.
Well company investigation didn’t confirm it , I’m assuming there is data collecting devices the company had to get info from to see if the car was rapidly accelerating then slowing or rapidly changing left to right. Probably why the driver was willing to meet with them cuz he was confused and upset at the claim. If the irratic behavior was true why would he bother to meet with them cuz he’d be sol with his company when the see the data. I don’t think her claim was true at all if it was why would she want a nut case to come to her house?
Because he was a good fall guy. He was obviously niave too. Pretty sure Mark winger was pretending to offer him job or something in order to get him to come over. Mark was clever.
I think she had an affair going with that guy somehow
@@Whatsthedealsquirter Not bloody likely. She has a much-awaited newborn after all the infertility. 100% of her focus would be the baby. Your username says it all.
@@cdes1776 easy buddie,it was a theory,no need to start insulting people's name ,squirter is my grandmother's maiden name, and my pet name for you wife🤫,what's your theory on why she had a pre-existing relationship with the bus driver?
Better late than never but dang the investigators really bungled that up!
agreed
I know the slogan for 'Monsters' is "It's never a mannequin", but another good one would be "It's never a home invader"
He made a total dog’s dinner of his murder for having a BA in nuclear physics. Mark must be the Homer Simpson then the Lenard Hofstadter of nuclear engineers. No Mensa murder mystery dinner experience.
He is sitting right where he belongs!
I love this crazy channel
Good morning time for my pre work treat
Deann is a real piece of work. if Mark had stayed w/ her she wouldve stayed quiet forever. Donnah had snakes all around her. I pray shes at peace ❤ RIP Roger as well ❤
Cops were told exactly what happened. Evidence backed up that statement. It only took them six years to decide any of that was relevant. That is some top notch police work. 😳🙄🤬
I had seen this story before but what wasn't publicized was the fact that the cops had all this information from Roger's roommate that he had planned a meeting with Mark and she had actually give him the paper to write the address/time down and told the police, all other stories about this make it seem like the cops had no idea and it was good police instincts that made them re-open the case and here they were just covering up really bad police work
Wow. Almost got away with it if it wasn’t for that pesky ex he was cheating on his wife with he just may have. Thank goodness she finally came forward.
I was wondering whether she would have come forward if Mark hadn't married another woman. Anyway, some best friend she was. Another scumbucket.
I like how your map of Illinois includes their chunk of Lake Michigan too.
Poor donna
The way you said "Nurse Anesthetist" @2:00 got me tripped out 😵💫
This case just goes to show how you always gotta be on alert at all times. If something don’t seem right, trust it. Sad this guy did this to two innocent ppl
I remember this! Sickening
I'm surprised you didn't go more in detail about the boy's father, killing himself and the idea that maybe his wife was in on it in the beginning. She just didn't know that he wanted to kill her as well.
