Just started playing a few months back and I sincerely appreciate him being so generous with his time and wisdom. Thank you so much for sharing! God bless and rock on, Flea!!
Flea is one of my all time favorites. Having said that; Yes, Flea is probly generous, but he's selling basses my friend. He makes $ from his name attached to this bass. You're going to say, "('Yeah, but he didn't have to make this teaching vid')" That's true, but it benefitted him, sold basses, and endeared us to him for his time, and 1st hand knowledge. We all know Flea loves music, and sharing it, but he's not foolish w/his name or resources. This video benefitted us, and himself. We get his thoughts, he gets paid to share them. He's generous with love of music, but it's in this studio setting, (where he is promoting HIS signature bass), not his living room. SO, Tho Flea IS probably generous, we're seeing this vid for a myriad of reasons, selling basses being a huge one. 👍
@@treylem3 I think we largely agree but I don't think this is a generous advert for his bass guitar. Comparing it to other tutorials, I think this is simply another solid instructional vid to the bass. For example, as he goes through the parts of the bass and his playing advice, he continuously leaves open ended suggestions to the specific choices beginners have in learning bass. He's not pitching the unique quality of the pickups on the particular instrument he's playing... if anything, this intro lesson has some mild product placement mixed w him sharing his gear choices. Either way. We agree it is helpful and good on him for making the effort to share his knowledge.
Flea is a large reason why I began playing bass all those years ago....Of course, over the course of my time playing the bass, I discovered several other players and developed my own style which, funny enough is nothing at all close to Flea's...all the same, I've learned to appreciate everyone's unique styles...theres something to learn from everyone!...as he rightly says, you are only as strong as you practice...stay open minded and keep evolving both in technique and strength~
@@Trondheim46 I wish I could slap because it sounds so cool.I have practiced till my thumb feels like it will fall off but I suck at it.I can play the crap out of fingerstyle but I despite the courses and books nada thumb.

I been thinking about getting a bass guitar, I'm 48 years old and know I got no musical talent of ability, but this video is very encouraging. I still don't think I'll go for it , but this was good to watch. Huge fan of his music
I've been playing bass for a little over 10 years now and I even majaored in music in High School but I never took the bass playing too seriously until awhile back when I joined a band with some old school friends and now I'm kinda "re-learning" the bass and try too define my style and this video help alot, I just started slapping and I just finally found something too motivate me and it's an amazing feel. Thanks Flea for your help on this discovery!
Love the fret buzz on the Flea bass! Lol. No disrespect of course, Flea iz the shiznit, but if the action is to low on a beginner bass, you get a shit ton of buzz without knowing how to control it, which can be very discouraging to a new player. A little higher action is also helps a bit more to develop the muscles in the fret hand. Just my opinion of course.
Learning from THE BEST! Hey, Flea what kind of bass is yours? Its amazing and sounds really great! Congrats for the lessons, buddy....Wow 6:14 fucking bass slap!!!! SUBSCRIBED!!
Post a link of you..."Flea" holding a sign, with a visual of your face, saying "Help me 100,000 Subscribers" and you will eventually have a million in no time. But the fact your posting a really old video....tells me you aren't Flea.
"big ups"? Great, more foolish hood slang from someone that thinks it sounds cool, instead of the sad reality. Some things never change. If you had lived in the 70's, you'd be saying "groovy". Some things never change, but the slang does.
you can find them 2nd hand but I don't think they sell this blue-orange bass anymore. Flea didn't like the business aspect of it, so he stopped selling them.
Can't wait for this pandemic to end so I can see Flea and the boys on tour again!! The world needs your music to help the healing process!!

I love this. This video really shows Flea's heart and that it is not beneath him to cater to a total beginner. Well done.
Flea my brother you are a good man and we can hear it every time you talk.

i know everything about a bass but i still wanna watch
Someone that truly knows "everything about a bass" wouldn't say that. ✌
You need so much Hand power to play the bass like flea, I’ll bet he broke somebody’s hand by accident while shaking.
👏👍👍👏👏
The real bass is here....
#Davie 504 you must see this...
Before eat your whole meal....
