Yes, and we have access to smaller stories of individuals half a world away... hearing their tragedies, etc. So we are absorbing the pain on a global scale. We are taking in more and more pain and awfulness than we used to. This felt as though it was predominantly six minutes of the difficult news from this year, with a fleeting minute offering a glimmer of goodness and happiness. Remember, amidst the adversity, there still lies a resilient spark of hope and positivity. Let's carry that glimmer into the future, uniting to create a brighter, more compassionate world. Born in 2004, I dream of a future for my children, grandchildren, and all the generations to come, a future where they can enjoy a world brimming with innovation, understanding, and peace, and where every individual has the opportunity to thrive. As Mahatma Gandhi once said, "Be the change that you wish to see in the world." With this in mind, may our actions today, tomorrow, and in the years to come, lay the groundwork for a better tomorrow for everyone.
Thank you! As a 2005 kid it’s nice to see someone my era and age group have the same view on the world and yearning for a brighter future. I thought I was the only one feeling this way.
Was not expecting to tear up from the 2023 video, but here we are. Let’s keep on moving forward and do better in the years to come. Thank you Vox for making such great annual videos for us all!
There was zero to none " great moments " in the video. Especially laughable was " Taylor's Swift and Beyonce concetts boosting economy of U.S" as it has ANY meaning to the World itself. All that is there is War in one region, Semi-War in other regions, forest fires, earthquakes and England New King sitting in a crown speaking about how he will make live better for the " other folks".
Thanks for showing some of the wins of the year at the end, reminding us of all the good that has happened, and all the positivity that exists. It's so important, it cannot even be put into words.
I say this every year, and the next leaves me saying it again: 2023, what an unforgettable year you’ve been. Noticing all we’ve lived leaves us teary yet inspired. I only would like to add 1 thing: 🇵🇦 Panama’s fight against mining giant FQM. I’m not sure how it compares to the rest of the world, but to us it was huge. We’ve never seen protests as big as these since 30 years ago.
Thank you for sharing this because I haven't heard a single thing about it. I'm not too surprised that I haven't heard about it - mainstream media has basically no incentive to show it.
@@florallyclover Yes, Panama’s Supreme Court declared the 20-year mining contract between First Quantum and Panama unconstitutional, but the situation has a long path ahead of uncertainty which includes a international arbitration
horrible things happen every year and they always have. videos like this create an impression that things are worse than they are. we just watched a nearly 10 min video of highlights of mostly bad things. I did enjoy it a lot though
bad things will happen in 2024. The Israel - Hamas War will spread across the middle east, the Russian Ukraine War will escalate again, China will take Mongolia and Xi & Joe Biden will declare WWIII
Some big things happened this year. But what about the family who sat in a field under hazy sunlight, and shared a picnic? What about the sound of your friend snoring at night, the music coming from the neighbor next door, the ant crawling across your floor? This earth is so much more than a string of catastrophes or uncontrollably large events. It is made of of inconceivably many small things too, which you are uniquely a part of. These little stories, routines, thoughts and feelings are so, so big. So here’s to a year of your life, too. Thank you
The human experience. All eight billion of us living our own unique lives everyday. 2023 and every other year is not just everything on the news. Its every unique experience.
School really makes a difference how I perceive the year. My Social Studies teacher from last year talked about the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey. That feels like 2022, but it was 2023. I can't believe it, really. These videos honestly always make me wanna change the world, make me wanna support what I believe in, but I know I'm too young to do very much. I can't go to protests. I can't do a whole lot. These videos also make me realize how lucky I truly am. I'm not scared for my life everyday, although I do live in the US, where school shootings often happen. But that's nothing compared to what others across the world have been going through. I'm so lucky to live this life that I do, yet I don't even realize it half the time. These videos nearly bring me to tears, and thank you for bringing us such a detailed yet compact video full of wild events.
Im really emotional cause at my big age of 28 I finally felt like I was in the know about 95% of these events, world events, politics, pop culture, and underground journalism. There was a time where I would not even vote cause I did not know who was running, times where I knew nothing about Palestine or politic changes, and it was only the entertainment and pop culture news that I was on top of. While the world does seem a lot scarier these days, my hope has grown exponentially past that.

Humanity needs to revive its hearts as much as it needs to thrive in its feats.

The fact that you guys showed Manipur's situation is so touching, because even in this country of ours not many know of the deadly situation . I thank you sincerely Vox
@Akarsh2008 True and chandrayan is a nationwide known thing for India as it is indeed a very big accomplishment for us, yes I agree, I too call myself a proud Indian citizen who loves India with all my heart dear friend and I was not trying to be ignorant at all of the fact that they added those scenes to their video but you see I just wanted to pinpoint the fact that they added manipur's situation too because currently in that motherstate of mine around ten thousands of them are homeless and have lost their own family members because of the indigenous war which breaks my heart. Now,don't you think it's kinda rare to hear of this situation in our local news channels ? So I just wanted to especially thank vox for showcasing it to make people aware too of the situation.

This year has a lot of dark moments but I love how the video still shows great moments from the year. Hope next year will be better
There was zero to none " great moments " in the video. Especially laughable was " Taylor's Swift and Beyonce concetts boosting economy of U.S" as it has ANY meaning to the World itself.
I'm not too surprised that I haven't heard about it - mainstream media has basically no incentive to show it.
what happened? did you guys win against the mining giant?
@@florallyclover Yes, Panama’s Supreme Court declared the 20-year mining contract between First Quantum and Panama unconstitutional, but the situation has a long path ahead of uncertainty which includes a international arbitration

Huge win for humanity! We need nature to live not metal !
It really feels like the world is progressively becoming worse. I can't even begin to imagine how next year is going to turn out
horrible things happen every year and they always have. videos like this create an impression that things are worse than they are. we just watched a nearly 10 min video of highlights of mostly bad things. I did enjoy it a lot though
A lot of good happened this year though.
For example:
i think it'll get better
bad things will happen in 2024. The Israel - Hamas War will spread across the middle east, the Russian Ukraine War will escalate again, China will take Mongolia and Xi & Joe Biden will declare WWIII
@@Speculaas A lot of good happened this year though.
For example: "Nothing".
Thank you
This is such a beautiful comment, rare to find on UA-cam ❤️
You're so right. Thank you for reminding us. The little moments are just as monumental
nope
yes but many people in some countries couldnt even do that because some countries decided to invade it or try bombing it indiscriminantly
You're alert, intelligent, and have lots of time ahead. Get out there and change the world, kid.
It’s a trip. I’m your age and that hit in 2016
Ditto
These yearly wrap ups never fail to make me incredibly anxious and hopeful at the same time.
Incredible storytelling, incredible research, incredible ending, powerful message. Well done.
That part 'India is on the moon' is something to be proud of.
