From the archives: 8/8/88 - Wrigley's lights turn on

On 8/8/88, 91-year-old Cubs fan Harry Grossman flipped the switch for Wrigley Field's new (and controversial) lights. Here's WGN's coverage from that day.

The lights were actually in sometime before that. I do remember that.

I remember that the lights were completely installed a few months prior to that.

And it rained out making the 8/9 game against the Mets the first official night game at Wrigley.
