I have pondered colour changes like this, but never had the time to see it through and work it out properly. Thank you for taking the time for all of us who crochet. 😊
Good Morning! Tuula, this is a very cool take on the Granny Square. I have a love/hate relationship with them! All those pesky ends, darn it. Nice, nice, nice change up😉. Have a fabulous today, Steph
First time I’ve seen this technique. I’ve just started crocheting again. Made some booties and outfits for a friend’s granddaughter’s baby sized dolls. Good way to use imperfectly crocheted outfits and get practice at the same time. I will try this one too. Thank you.
Hi, Tuula Maaria, outstanding pattern, you are truly innovative and talented. This technique helps to get rid of all those tails from a change your color every row that you have to weave in. I akso like the pattern of this method. Reminds me of the puzzle to find your way out of the center. Lol 😅, thank you for taking the time to show everyone this wonderfull way to granny square color changes without all those tails. Beautifull scenery on your nature walk. I bet Finland is beautifull this time of year. See you on the tube 😊😊😊.
Thank you! True, it is the same idea as in puzzles where you need to find the way! There are many beautiful places in Finland but not everything looks pretty!
TUULA THANK YOU FOR AWESOME TUTORIAL 👌💯 I JUST LOVE YOUR YOUR WAY OF MAKING CROCHETING SO EASY FOR US 🌹 IM BUSY WITH SQUARE S WITH MY LEFT OVER YARN ♥️
Hi tuula how are you doing today iam doing fine today your squares are very beautiful colors and very beautiful work thank you for sharing stay safe ❤❤❤
This is news to me. I love it! Not a fan of sewing in ends, so be I think I’m going to be a big fan of this method. Thank you for this video! Your instructions are always so clear and your stitches are easy to follow. Appreciate it. And you!
Excellent technique, and new to me after over 50 years crocheting! I’ll need to make my next project something with granny squares so I can try this. Thank you!
Wow, as if you read my mind. An hour ago i was trying to make a colorful granny with left over yarn. I didn't know it could be done in this beautiful way. Whenever i want to buy new yarn i think of a project to use the leftover this way i don't have yarn all over the room.
Thanks, interesting and good explained. I will try it out with scrap yarn. 4 colors at the beginning and when 1 runs out I add an other collor. I'm curious how it looks.
I've always wanted to do granny square pattern but didn't want to have several ends at beginning and start of each square. I love this technique and will now make a granny square blanket. Thank you so much.
This is a really nice modern twist (pun intended!) On the granny square. It's so nice! I love your color choices and I liked the tip about using bamboo for kitchen cloths. Thank you!
Oh this looks such a fun way to make a granny square, Tuula. I crocheted a spiral bib once (solid rather than granny stitch and really enjoyed this so I hope to give the square a go at some point. I think a big central square in this spiral technique with a border of small traditional granny squares could look nice. 😊
You could probably attach with ch1 + hdc, I haven't tried. That works in ordinary granny squares, just not a method I like. Not sure it would look ok here at those corners where you change the colour.
I haven't done much with Jasmine stitch, only very basic things. A designer friend Makalani from Norway has many Jasmine stitch patterns on Etsy, maybe that would help! www.etsy.com/shop/nordicyarnart/?etsrc=sdt§ion_id=41507146
I made a small lap blanket approximately 32" square and the granny blanket was twisting from the middle outwards. I was able to block it so it looks a bit more square, but was wondering if there is anything I could have done to prevent the 'twisties'?
Yes, I'm talking about this problem on this video ua-cam.com/video/yocbQYR9QRk/v-deo.htmlsi=OMUk-NLJSuH6RjEH&t=266 . What helps in most cases is that you turn the works after each round, I'm showing that in that video.
@@pattycrochets2559 I must say I haven't tried because I don't need or use that tip myself. I would need to try. I would guess that it would partly work, but I can't calculate in my head how the yarn changes would go!
Thank you for watching! See other tips about traditional granny squares: ua-cam.com/play/PL7vcNpUtI_RZbXt0-NxSvHvC5J7sHr2iO.html

Glad it was helpful! 💜
You always have great tips. Your idea to make a chain to pick up the next colour is very clever.
Thank you!
This is a new technique for me (i love learning new things! ). The colors you selected are beautiful .
Great, glad you like to learn new things!
Good Morning! Tuula, this is a very cool take on the Granny Square. I have a love/hate relationship with them! All those pesky ends, darn it. Nice, nice, nice change up😉. Have a fabulous today, Steph
Thank you Steph, this is a great way for those who hate all yarn ends!

It is, I love seeing the colours take their places!

Lovely! True, dolls are an ideal way to try out things in crochet!

Definitely give it a try! It is useful for far more than just kitchen cloths!
That is so clever, thank you for sharing. Never thought about using bamboo for kitchen items. ❤
Bamboo is great, so much more absorbent than cotton!
Ingenious!
I love this method! Thank you ❤
Lovely!
That's very interesting! I haven't seen it before!!
Great! It doesn't seem to be commonly known!
Very interesting. I have never seen this done before. I will definitely try it.😊

Thanks for this video. As someone that loves to do granny squares. This will be fun to try. You're such a great teacher. ❤
Thank you so much! Have fun trying these out!
I love your channel. I love learning new techniques!
Awesome! Thank you!
Thanks, interesting and good explained. I will try it out with scrap yarn. 4 colors at the beginning and when 1 runs out I add an other collor. I'm curious how it looks.
Super. Sieht toll aus und ich hab mich immer gefragt wie sowas funktioniert. Vielen Dank für die tolle Erklärung und das zeigen 🫶🥰❤
Danke 💗
I really like how you pull up the new color and chain three. I'd not seen that technique before and will definitely be trying it out. Thanks
Lovely, enjoy trying it!
I've always wanted to do granny square pattern but didn't want to have several ends at beginning and start of each square. I love this technique and will now make a granny square blanket. Thank you so much.
Great, definitely make some now using this method!
Wow that was so neat! Great ideal! ❤❤❤❤

Glad to hear, happy crocheting!
OMG….THANKS FOR SHARING….LOVE IT….
Thank you!

That's a great idea Joanne, to do only part of a square like this and the rest maybe in just one colour!
Wonderful Tuula, thank you ❣️🤩
At 9:55 for example, what do you think of attaching with a hdc instead of slip st?
That’s what I thought to. 😊
You could probably attach with ch1 + hdc, I haven't tried. That works in ordinary granny squares, just not a method I like. Not sure it would look ok here at those corners where you change the colour.
Your work and (Hooked by) Robin's are the only ones I saw that featured spiral color work.
Ok right, I wonder where I learned it, just can't remember at all. My previous video about this is from 9 years ago!
Love it but too much going on for me to be relaxing crocheting😅Blessings
Yes, this takes a bit of concentration, especially at first!
hello!! can you do a tutorial for a bag crochet with jasmine stitch? with the handle pleaseee! thanks
I haven't done much with Jasmine stitch, only very basic things. A designer friend Makalani from Norway has many Jasmine stitch patterns on Etsy, maybe that would help! www.etsy.com/shop/nordicyarnart/?etsrc=sdt§ion_id=41507146

@TuulaMaaria Thank you. Would this method also work with the granny square crocheted with the spiral color-work granny?
@@pattycrochets2559 I must say I haven't tried because I don't need or use that tip myself. I would need to try. I would guess that it would partly work, but I can't calculate in my head how the yarn changes would go!
