Some of the reasons I shoot Mathews is the dead in the hands feel and super quiet. They are not the fastest or the lightest but they are a pleasure to shoot.
Nice review Sean. I currently shoot a Halon and have shot the Vertix and liked it. Enough to sell my Halon and buy one? Probably not. The higher end bows definitely are great bows, but, the bows around $500-$600 are great bows too and sometimes the medium-range priced bows have more versatility (changing draw length and poundage without changing modules or limbs). For instance, I had one bow that both my sons used growing up (as I could change the bow very quickly as they grew up) and that saved me a lot of money. Anyway, as you have said before many times, each person has to shoot different bows and make an informed decision before spending their hard earned money. I do think when the price points are over $1000 for a bare bow, one really needs to do the research before buying. Thanks again for the great bow reviews you do that help us make an informed decision!
I currently hunt with a tenpoint crossbow because of a bad accident i had 4 years ago. I had multiple shoulder and neck surgeries and couldn't pull a compound bow back. Ive come a long wasys since then and am ready to my the change. I really like the Mathews bow.
Sean, a very good video! I like your scientific approach to measuring bow performance. You do a very fair job with all of the major bow manufacturers. I own an Xpedition Xcentric 7 and love it. I did NOT like the Bowtechs - their comfort setting felt more aggressive than anything I ever tried. I bought and quickly sold a Hoyt (too noisy for my tastes) and own a Mathews H32, Triax and Vertix. I think the dead in the hand feeling is awesome but the sound of the bow is just amazing. When I shot the Vertix for the first time at Lancaster Archery, I did a double take because I was surprised I had actually shot the arrow.

This year I went with the Vertix as my first Mathews. After shooting all the "marketed" bows. The Vertix beat em all. Quality bow and QUIET, dead in the hands and fast. Great bow and no regrets
Hey friend, did you shot the Bowtech SS and SR1? How would you compare these both to the Vertix? I considered the Vertix but a saw a few comments that said 70ponds feels more Like 60 on the Bowtechs...!? Greetings to you and your family
Great bow. I was never a fan of the Chill series, the felt a little spongy on release to me. Bought a vertix and have been super happy with it, I’ve found it to be very accurate even without a stabilizer, however I wish they had the switch weight mods and dovetail QAD rest available for it, it’s been a couple months now and still no sign of them, and they were the main reasons I bought this bow!
Mathews draw lengths always run long. I used to shoot my Switchback XT at 30 inches but shoot my Xpedition Denali at 31". Good review. Mathews is a good bow if you dont mind sacrificing the speed.
Since you tested a 65lb draw weight limb is it recommended to get a module for a 70lb if you wanted t shoot it at 70lbs draw weight l? Are the limbs supported for a higher draw weight module?
Just got the bow. I'm into it at about 450-475 arrows so far and would absolutely agree with your assessment. Two things. It is not hype that the grip is fantastic. And yes, the weight is fairly stout but very well balanced without excessive stabilization. Great review and I love your channel. Take care! -695Bluefin
Just bought myself a new Vertix, 1st Mathews I've purchased. Always shot Hoyt but it's been a while since I bought a new and its definitely not worth the extra money. Greatly enjoying my new Mathews
Looks like a damn nice bow.. wonder how it stacks up beside the triax? I shoot a few triax last yr and I really liked them. The nicest bow I shoot was a 60 # 29in draw triax. I wish I would have bought it instead of my 70# rx-1.. but I still love it too.
Great video Sean, Have you shot the Hoyt hyperforce? If so how does the noise compare to the vertix. I’m finding my Hoyt extremely noisy but not sure if it’s just me.
Vertix is by far the quietest bow I’ve shot this year. Nothing else compared to it. Hoyt are always noisy, it’s not just you, it’s pretty much all Hoyts.
@@seansoutdoors Thanks . Looking at this bow but worried about peep height and string angle for it at 29.5 " draw . Cannot get one in hand to try lol . cheers
I would have to agree with you Sean. I just recently got my custom vertix and I can put it down. I originally had the triax and the 2" difference between the two is almost night and day to me. The new engage grip is just as good if not better then my shrewd grip for my triax. and the switch weight technology is amazing. Love the vids man keep it up. I have learned so much from your videos.

OK, I actually saw a LH Vertix at my local Scheel's, so I was able to try one out. I am sad to say that my take on the draw is quite different from yours. At 65#, it was quite harsh and almost painful to draw, quite unlike the Realm and the BT-X that I tried. The Realm was much smoother than the Vertix for having the same IBO. I do agree that it was dead in the hand even without a stabilizer, and incredibly quiet.
I think that all the Vertix models have the same #75 limbs, which are regulated with the switchweight modules to deliver the designated peak weight (65 punds in this case). Different modules change the draw range, weight and let off, but so far the limbs are all the same.
@@seansoutdoors Right. What I mean is you need the module which provides 70 pounds at 30" draw (which they didn't have), but there's not such thing as a "60 pound Vertix" or a "70 pound Vertix": is just the same riser and cams with 75 pound limbs which are adjusted by the specific switchweight module in draw length, draw weight and let off.
