My 2c worth. I've had both of these... the NUX is closer to the real amps (I have an AC30TB and the NUX absolutely nails it!). I kept the Valeton though... I need it for small gigs when I need to travel extra light and the NUX has three huge disadvantages for my use.. 1. The build quality is not something I would take out and play with, it's strictly bedroom/studio only, the Valeton can take a beating. 2. The NUX won't allow for effects chain order changes whereas the Valeton lets me move pedals anywhere I want. 3. The Valeton lets me use Stomp mode so I can use the foot switches to control individual or groups of pedals within each patch and then easily swap over to change patches without having to use my hands. As a 'live' pedal the Valeton is superior and the amp simulation quality isn't so great that anyone would be able to tell when playing in the mix with other instruments.
@@DerekPaulGuitar Thanks for the reply! Do both have a pitch shifter? So if I want to quickly play something that is tuned a half or full step down it would work for that? I have a old digitech effects pedal that has that, although it doesn't sound the greatest it's cool just for something quick.

Thanks for your demo of this Derek, I’ve been interested in maybe getting one of these for a while now, not that I really need one. The build quality looks decent compared to competitors of similar units, very portable. To be honest if I get one I don’t want it for the drives, amp or cab sims, drums. I’m more interested in using it for the modulations mainly, the reverbs and delays might be of some use and handy to have a number of various alternatives. Nice that you’re able to change the pedal order on this unlike the NUX MG300. Thanks again for your review and excellent work on the visual production with the close up shots of their it and screen, you are probably the only reviewer of these type of units to do decent close ups so you can actually see clear in focus areas, which for me is important to see the proper and full functionality and use ability of the screen and unit and what it can do, unike others who have one static camera shot far away and out of focus who just play all the drives in the unit. Thanks Derek for a good well produced review.

This seems like a better version of the old Line 6 Pocket Pod. Some of the patches sounded eerily similar to it. Not that I'm complaining. I loved the Pocket Pod back in the day. I would like to hear this in a shoot out with the old Pod just for giggles.
Wouldn't that be fun! just to see how far multi effects have come over the years or even if the old pod still sounds as good as it did, it was a great thing!
Does either unit have noticeable latency? It's also notable that the NUX MG300 only has about half the presets and about half the effects that the Valeton GP100 has, if my info is correct.
Something VERY important to consider is that Valeton has a stompmode, and Nux seems not to have one, switching presets live sound odd every time, not a smooth change, so if you need to add a mod for example or boost you can't do that with the NUX unless you switch presets, but Valeton allows for 2 fx assigned to the footswitches for each preset meaning you can boost or add a delay or whatever as if they were separate pedals.
The Valeton actually allows for up to three fx pedals to be assigned to each of the two footswitches, as I mentioned in my comment as a live unit the valeton is far superior to almost every entry level multi-fx pedal out there.
You miss a feature of the NUX MG-30 that no other multi-effects pedal in its price range possesses and that is the scenes feature. Other higher end pedals call it snapshots. This feature allows you to add or create a preset or patch with three options within a scene. For example you can create a string of pedals with one scene with OD off and chorus on, a 2nd with chorus off and OD on (or other effects on/off) and a 3rd with another combination of peddles on and off. With one step you are basically switching an assortment of pedals on and off. That's huge!

One of my favourite bands of all time :) yes!!
What lead do you use to connect it to your computer
I'm pretty sure you get the connection cable with the unit, if not then its a micro USB signal cable
how about those two compares to Mooer GE 150?
That’s a good shout, I’ll have to see if I can get the GE 150, cheers!
Latency is a thing that i'm really worried about. I have a focusrite solo so i wouldn't need to use it as an interface and ill be monitoring directly. is there any noticable latency in that scenario?
There won’t be any noticeable latency at all, hope that helps!
@@DerekPaulGuitar Ah thanks for the quick reply mate !
Can you switch patches while on looper mode?
yup
The looper is quite hard to work with compared to boss rc 3. I can't seem to get it to loop on measures...? Also.. Is there any way to replace or customize the drums? The drum sounds are really not to my taste, and the patterns are too busy.
I don't know about the first point but i also don't think you can replace the drum sounds
I’m sorry the NUX sounds better . Periodt! IMHO 🤘🏾✊🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thanks for the comment man! 🤘
Mooer GE 150 is another one.
Yes! thats a real competitor at the moment, great unit!
If i dont ask ill never kno , any relation to Les , Les Paul tht is . Paul as a last name ,, only kno of 1 other person witb Paul as last name . Hes from Texas . And mayb i shld get out more . Lol . My great grand parents came over frm Englamd . Lots of different names made it to the states and lived on , just curious more than anything . If i was think id b a lil proud of it . Anyway , love the channel .
No relation, would be nice wouldn’t it! I must say that since moving to the US the names here are so varied, names I hadn’t heard before and find difficult to pronounce if I read them, the UK is easy, Smith, Jones, Roberts etc :) and thanks man, I appreciate that
I think Les Paul's real last name was Polfuss or Paulson or something like that, I'm sure a search would cough up a quick result, but I've got to make coffee first, ha!.
@@LTJR. Haha i never knew that, i googled it, Lester William Polsfuss
does this need a computer? or can it plugged into my amp like a regular pedal?
You can use it plugged into an amp as well
this effects processor has a good relationship with treble bleed?
Sorry, not sure what you mean?
@@DerekPaulGuitar I mean that when you lower the volume pot, with the intention of reducing the gain of some distortion, how does the valenton respond?
Ah I see, yes it responds really well and cleans up when you lower the volume, thanks for clarifying
🤘
I am looking for more clean tones. What do you suggest Nux mg-300 or Valeton GP 100?
They both have great clean tones! but they have different features, i'm doing a video to shoot them out, keep an eye out for that one as it depends what you require as a whole from the units :)
@@DerekPaulGuitar Will be waiting for you video.
Rahila Qureshi no worries man! Cheers!
If you have to deal with clean tones I think that you would go with NUXMG300. It has Roland jazz clean and fender deluxe reverb amps . The valeton doesn't have those amps. I suggest you to take a look at the manuals to get the amp list of both the devices.I did the same and it was very helpfull.
Fabio A. That’s such a good shout, cheers Fabio
What's the chord progression for that "Clean Patch" tone?
I think it was E F# A :) cheers
Are ether of of these good for bass or acoustic?
The Valeton has acoustic and bass patches but of course you could use the MG300 as a preamp for acoustic too, just chose no amp and use the EQ effects, cheers
is it good for metal
It has swine good metal patches yes!
I am actually really confused nux mg 300 or valeton gp100 what to buy😭😭😭😭😭😭😭pls help
Well! I’ll shoot them out next week so look out for that video 😁👍
GP 100 is much better than MG 300
Thanks for the vote!
Shame they keep crashing on Windows 10
Sorry to hear that man!
Ouch the AC simulator!!!
The guitar is out of tune
extremely out of tune..bleeds my ears.
you have to learn how to play first
lol, that's ridiculous, I guess you wouldn't be able to opine on your choice of car unless you are professional driver, or whether you like certain food unless you are a chef. Get off your high horse mate I've seen one of your videos and if those guitars you are 'presenting' are going to make me play like you I'd say thanks but no thanks.
What a horrible thing to say.Who are you? Maybe you think you're the next Steve Vai? There are all sorts of players on here, he was simply showing us how the GP100 works. Yneed to stop being a critic, you're nothing special trust me!
@@batphink2655 Yeahh bla bla bla !!!
Until you use the noise reduction. It cuts the sustain of the guitar
