NUX MG300 vs VALETON GP-100 Shootout!

  • The NUX MG300 and Valeton GP-100 are two of the hottest guitar processing effects units on the market today both with CAB IR's and the NUX MG300 with AMP IR's, they both have faithful recreations of popular and legendary effects pedals.
UPDATE: the MG300 now has acoustic simulation with Firmware update V.3
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases but it costs you nothing extra.
    NUX MG 300 amzn.to/3tzjy0L
    Valeton GP100 amzn.to/3tx0Jvh
Both modelling guitar processors have aux in and headphone out for silent practice and stop box modes for live use.
With a tuner, looper, drum machine and the ability to connect to a PC or Mac making the units audio interfaces, couple that with the software editors that these units have and the fact that they are both around $140 makes them perfect practice units and can even be used live as stomp boxes.
Both have amps ranging from Fender, Marshall, Vox, Friedman, Mesa Boogie, and effects pedals such as the Boss blues driver, super overdrive and the Ibanez Tube screamer and Big Muff to name only a few.

Both pedals sounds very good. In this video using OD effects, NUX seems to have more gain than the Valeton pedal and it is not a problem, setting up the gain knob. But in my opinion the sound of NUX has a little more middle frequences and Valeton sounded more faithfull to the Strato timbre. I don't know if it's different playing with other guitars, but I thought Valeton a little better. But both seems to be great pedals. Thanks for the video, sir!!! Cheers!!!

For me the best one was the Nux, some frequencies sounded a little more "fuller", also the software looks more worked in the Nux, but I can understand that some people might prefere the valeton because it looks like it has a little more to offer, at the end both of them are great for the price! I believe the Valeton shares its modeling from its big brothers the ampero. The headphone out is good but could be louder. It sounds damn good with cab sim off through a traditional amp. I’m running the Valeton through a Marshall dsl1 to a 1x12 closed back and its great.

I already have a gigging guitar rig consisting of individual pedals and amp etc, but I'm keen on getting something simple that I can use for when I play simple, solo and duo performances DI'd into the sound system with an electric guitar that also has a piezo pickup under the saddles.
Seeing as I would just be looking for something that I can program a decent electric preset with a little bit of gain and an acoustic preset (using an acoustic guitar IR), all in one unit using the same guitar. I'd say that the Valeton is the one that would work for me.

Cheers Derek ... just found yor channel & your vids.Good stuff man and ya come across as knowledgable and good spirited. Both these products seem fairly equal and top quality over the others(they know who they are lol). With that said, i've been doing MUCH research and vid watching(love UA-cam for gear reviews), and it simply came down to one thing that i havent seen many talk about... USE OF THE PEDAL!!! Which product would you say had a better pedal feel, motion, ease of use,and the "Throw" in em or how hard and far did ya have to travel downwards to achhieve desired effect sound??? The Valeton (from looks alone) looks like a MUCH BETTER pedal for home studio, stage, gigging use...and that solid metal construction is hard to beat for longevity of a product with Live band situations!! Thanks in advance for your opinion on this subject,ya have a new subscriber here now as well,Staysafe and PEACE Derek....(sorry about it being so late after the post of this video, but as stated, just found ya!!!) #MusicMaker69

Cheers John, it's always good to chat to people who are passionate about these things! that's a good question, in my experience with them i'd say they were on par with each other with regards to getting what you need easily and the range of sounds and throw of the adjustable parameters, i found the NUX to have slightly better tones, but that's going to be subjective, the Valeton on the other hand is really good for the money and will probably take a better beating in gig use, i reckon you can't go wrong with either for what you'll need gigging tone wise, the Valeton as i understand it has a stomp box mode, but i found the NUX to have the same sort of thing if you set your sounds up and stomp between them at a gig. Anyway, rambling on....hope that helped and thanks for subscribing and sticking around :) cheers!

@Derek Paul Guitar I've seen these symbols, but the pedal apparently ignores them. It seems to me that this feature is only working through the interface on the PC. Note that when you click the wah pedal on the PC interface (which does not even appear in the signal chain of the LCD pedal interface patch editor) the pedal button turns red, but if you press the pedal button while in the function of patch editing, the icons change giving the impression of having changed the function of the pedal, but neither the red light of the button lights up, nor the function of the pedal changes, and remains only controlling the volume of the sound.

The MG300 sounded a bit throaty on a lot of amps, as if it was asserting its own flavor onto everything, whereas the Valeton sounded quite distinct from model to model. Also found the attack to more natural on the Valeton. The MG300 seemed to be masking/muddling things a bit. Still sounded good, but more like it has its own signature sound. Why does every reviewer test distortion and overdrive, and never compression, delay, reverb, chorus, flanger, etc?

I recently bought online and now I am waiting for the item to arrive home. hopefully in accordance with my expectations. in my country the price of nux mg300 is much easier than valeton 3p100

@@DerekPaulGuitar At the beginning I really wanted Valeton GP 100. But my friend recommended the Nux mg300. he said sound from nux is better and when connected to soundcard for home recording, sound from nux300 is more stable than valeton gp100. valeton gp100 changes sound when plugged into a soundcard ..

Sofyan Rifani I think it just depends of what types of sounds you like, for me it was the NUX but for others it’ll be the Valeton, horses for courses as they say

I choose valeton, because I produce music with guitar and bass, and I dont need to waiste my money for another pedal
But the nux is more better to be honest, and the mic position is awesome actually
    Both have + and -
    Choose wisely
