    Excellent video & both very good cars with all you could ever need..especially love that thing where you could open a bottle one handed. Genius. Only thing getting v pricey especially for the one you would really want with good compromise of looks/value/features etc.

    I have just got the Seat Tarraco 2ltr Petrol FR Auto in Camouflage Green.
    Its a beautiful car and colour is so nice.
    It is thirsty though... Worth it.

    Tarraco has a 12v socket in the boot. It's slightly hidden above the wheel area, certainly on the UK spec anyway.

    I find these useful but rather than two sister cars from the same stable it would be good to compare say a TDI Kodiaq with a PHEV Sorrento to see if it stacks up to switch electric on these big family cars. I would like to as they usually are ferrying our kids from school, matches etc within a small radius.

    As a Kodiaq owner, I was like: "Yes we do, we do have that!" The whole video. Heated seats in the back? Yes, we do. Sliding seats in the back? Yes, we do. USB in the back? That x2 and a laptop 220 Volt socket. Sat nav on my virtual cockpit? Yes, we do! It's a really nice car, really, if you want a family car. It's not fast, it's not premium, but it's a great car and I would buy it again in the future.

    Really enjoy the auld twin tests. Not sure I'd spend 60k outright on a car for this purpose, but both represent good value in the mid range.

    I have the exact same Skoda 190BHP 4x4 in the same grey. Have the Columbus but don't have the family pack for the window blinds. The things that annoy me about it a small bit is 1. the coffee cup holders, you can't fit two take away cups in side by side 2. The amount of warning sounds off the dashboard for every little thing - No keys present, Door is open while the engine is running etc when you have a little one asleep in the back it's like the car is trying to wake up your child. 3. Apple car play won't project google maps into the Digital drivers display, you can only display the indigenous Columbus nav system (always going to use google maps) 4. The ambient lighting is only perpendicular to the driving angle (Doors only) so the driver never gets to appreciate it. A small smidge around the dash would have been nice for something that's very cheap to install.
    Kind of nitpicking because outside of that it's a very good family car and that colour is the business.

    I’m torn between the 2 ideally want a 4wd version. Tarraco FR Sport 4 drive is about £50 a month more than a Sportline Kodiaq. So leaning towards the Skoda but the Seat looks better IMO. But then the Skoda has better materials inside. It’s a tough one.

  • @stuartmchugh1754
    @stuartmchugh1754 2 роки тому +6

    Had this exact decision last year and I said I was more likely to regret the lack of max space by not choosing the Kodiaq rather than the better spec of the Tarraco. Plus the better resale value of the Kodiaq*
    PS: I went for the petrol manual Kodiaq. It’s totally up to the job as a suburban school run. Bit nippier and i think will resale better in Dublin in a few years. For my journeys (crèche trips in the rain etc), the diesel wouldn’t even heat up so would cause a world of pain.

    Just discovered these videos and great to see car content getting made by Irish, instead of the usual UK and US lads but yeah maybe review two similar cars from different manufacturers, like these two are Exactly the same car and are effectively watered down versions of the VW 🤓

  • @RichardBremer
    @RichardBremer 2 роки тому +1

    Great video, thanks for reviewing these two great cars. I'm currently torn between these two, and the Skoda Superb. All three great cars, I think. I really like the looks of the Tarraco and Superb, but the Kodiaq seems to be the most spacious choice. It will be the 1.5TSI with DSG gearbox for all three, that I know for sure. Will have to test drive myself to make my final decision.

    Kodiaq resale value is far stronger, better quality interior, bigger boot and just undergone a facelift (including those fancy dynamic indicators). This is the old model.

    Great review as ever, my brother in law has the 4wd Tarraco and he loves it though the problem is that as you both observed they are technically the same car and the way to have more evenly matched them would have been to have had the same engine/trim level in both. Both are very expensive and though I am considering my next move to possibly a Skoda, with only one child I don't think I'll be going for anything as big though in slight contradiction I am considering the Octavia VRS TDI Estate but I think based upon Anthony's thoughts I'll definitely be taking a test drive first as it only comes with the DSG gearbox and if that's the case and it's as dim witted as he says it is I might change tack and go to a manual in something else entirely as long as it's diesel as I need it for the distance I do every day. I am also a keen cyclist which is why the likes of the Octavia is a possibility as I know I'll be able to get my bike in the back with no bother at all.

      Thanks Steven. We actually have a review of the diesel Octavia VRS versus the plug-in hybrid Octavia VRS coming soon. The DSG is much less of an issue on the diesel Octavia VRS. A test drive would be a good idea but it does seems much better calibrated. AM

    Nice cars, but I couldn't consider either as they won't fit 3 child seats across the back. Most mpvs with 3 isofix are much more practical, if not as desirable

    Very nice comparison review.
    I don't think the satnav is worth the money on the kodiaq. On my O4, columbus came standard, but I always use waze instead.
    As for the engine I think it really matters if you do a lot of kilometers. I do unde 30k per year and I found the 2.0 190hp TSI to be a more suitable choice.

    Thats strange I just bought a 2017 Skoda Kodiaq and its SE L varient. But the interior is atleast 50% more beautiful than this Sportline model. I dont have knobs for the volume and tuner. Just a big screen very poshy looking. Looks a lot better than my brother Volvo XC90 v8. Also thanksfully i dont have this rubbish Carbon Fibre yet i have Black wooden like finish again looks a lot more better.
    My only concern so far is the MPG is a bit to bad for a 1.4l car.

      Snap! Just got the New FR Tech myself. I noticed the missing CD player in the glove box but as I have a phone I haven't needed one since 2004. :) Would have been nice to free up that space for something else though, like somewhere to store sunglasses or something. FR Tech is missing the wireless charging too which is a real annoyance. Android Auto EATS the battery.

    You are comparing a top of the range Kodiaq against a mid range Tarraco. Why didnt you compare two cars with mid range specifications with the exact engines. Pointless test.
    Plus you didnt really show much of the cars, including the boot, the 7 seats and how they fold etc..

    • @slen6293
      @slen6293 Рік тому

      The spec level is the same/equivalent for each car so a pretty fair comparison actually.
      The only difference is the engine which they highlight and it doesn’t really impact the review in any way.

    The old Kodiaq looks more modern than the facelifted Tarraco. The Kodiaq's lines are clean and deliberate, the Tarraco is a shapeless mass. I don't like where Seat's design is going at all. It looks like a Hyundai.

      And what’s wrong with a Hyundai ?? Have you seen all the tech you get with a Santa Fe ? Heads up Display, alcantara head lining, heated and cooled seats, heated s wheel, electric rear seat movement to get into 3rd row, many more
