I think it's time to quit my job so I can paint without a time schedule. I can hike and garden and read my books and watch your videos without watching the clock. This tutorial was very helpful. I like the video on different ways to blend with mediums, or not. Thanks
Thank you SO MUCH!!! Every day I think about you and send love to you and yours with my thoughts and prayers. You have saved my life....so how many others are there? xoxo You deserve your heart's desire.
This video was AWESOME!! Thank you so much. I think I'll watch it didn't before each painting to get it ingrained. These tips are GOLD. GOLD I TELL YOU!!
I love this lesson, I also forward to my 8 yr old granddaughter who is learning and loves to paint...she thinks u r so fun and so do I..I’ve also follow ur mom a lot. Thank u for all ur sharing
Thank you for this one! I still have issues with loading my brush properly. I either get too much or too little on it By the way, I'm loving your hair in this one. I'm older (69) but sometimes put a streak of blue, green, or red in my hair. You've become a bit of an inspiration for me to be more colorful, to wear what I want to and do my hair the way I want to, and not worry about what other people my age think.
I'm 69 this year, haven't decided what yet but I'm definitely going to celebrate by putting some colour into my hair. Since I joined this group my wardrobe has changed as well. I'm much more aware of colour, life in dark colours to make me look thinner doesn't work, so as I buy new items they are in colours I enjoy. So many benefits to enjoying learning with theartsherpa, I can't say thank you enough.
Wow. Why aren't there any other videos like this anywhere? Thank you so much for clearing up the mistakes I have been making regarding the loading of my brushes. You are the best! I am painting so much more now that I have watched this. I have way more confidence. Thanks a ton!
I know this is an old video, but I found it through search mode because I am having so many issues with my paintings. This video truly educated me! I can already see where my deficiencies are! I also saved your blending techniques video. I've been unsuccessfully painting pictures via tutorials without the actual instruction. So, now I'm beginning from square 1, and I'm learning the basics about painting on canvas before trying to paint another picture and making myself frustrated. 🤭 Thank you, Art Sherpa! 🤗⚘️♥️✨️
I am nearly ready to start! Want to do it right and my niece in Colorado recommended your videos! I’ve listened to three and I’m three times smarter already!!!
I learned so much! Before I started seriously painting, (after retiring), I thought using water was just for watercolors! When I started painting with you, I realized that you can use water with acrylics. Thanks for all of your videos!
Eureka moment!! I wasn't even wetting my brush first! You are absolutely a gifted artist and for you to share all these tips is, well.... PRICELESS! Thank you and John. Those camera close ups and trickery stuff were smoooooth!
I am not a painter but I do a little mixed media. I have learnt so much from you and even feel motivated to dabble in painting. Thank you very much for sharing your talent so freely. *hugs*
This video is going to save me sooooo much time and effort! Again, thank you for these oh so helpful videos! You are aptly named! You are my sweet spicy guide! Thank you!
Thank you so much for this amazing video! 🤩 I’ve been painting for 3 years now and done quite a few online courses but no one had taught me this key information … so happy to learn all this, it will transform how I paint!
I did learn something that I have never come across before and that is how to use a mop brush for blending, for whatever reason I thought a mop brush was only used to mop the canvas while painting if too much water is used or to fix mistakes. I have so many mop brushes I am pumped about practicing the blending you demonstrated. Thank you!!
OMG this video helped me so much. I've been trying to get into miniature painting but I don't have any prior painting experience and was having so many issues with the basic skills. My paint was constantly getting air bubbles in it and I was constantly watering it down far too much so it would flow everywhere but where I wanted it. I'm going to try the things in this video tonight I'm thinking this will help HUGELY
Fabulous information, all of which I have experienced in every possible way, some of which I have learned the hard way and some that of these techniques were answered today! Thanks Cinnamon!
I am so glad this was helpful. And I think it’s something that’s perfectly reasonable that you wouldn’t know until you saw it or had painting for a while. I feel like there’s so many subtle things that we do is hardest to make our painting successful than trying to break down those less talked about things Just for my own lessons so we can answer questions better
This is awesome! The detail brush always gave me a hard time - now I know why! Thank you! I do have trouble with the blending brush, I can’t seem to get the water ratio right. I also seem to always get brush streaks from it. Not sure if my pressure is off or what I’m doing wrong.
I just started painting about a month ago. I learned that I cannot paint like Bob Ross if I'm using acrylics. :) Your videos have helped me a lot. My friends tell me I have talent. lol I always get that dry brush issue and now I know why. It never occurred to me to prime my brush with water first. I thought it would look like water color. I can't wait to see all of your 5 min. videos. Thank you for all you do. It takes a lot of work to film, blend and upload videos. I've done a few myself. (I work in 3d modeling and animation). I love my liner brush and now I know why it runs out of paint. Thank you sooooo much.
@@TheArtSherpa I did very much! I love your tutorials, your style and caring! I am having a problem right now trying to find the tutorial for the witch on the pumpkin watercolor tutorial and the link seems to be missing? Thank you so much for everything you do!
Great tips. Thank you. That hidden droplet of water that runs down the ferrule. Omg that has got me a few times and it makes a blob on a spot I did not want it. So annoying! I have to remember to dry the brush handle before painting.
Nice tutorial! I’m currently trying out acrylics myself since I don’t got the space to paint with oils right now, which is hard because I’ve always loved oils above all other mediums and I’m definitely struggling with how fast it dries. This absolutely helped in giving me some ideas in how to tackle that But I got to address something and that’s the part you suggest throwing the acrylics rags in the washer. To anyone reading this, please please don’t! When you paint with acrylics you got to be equally careful about the clean up process as with oils. You can NEVER ever empty your used water or rinse off your equipment off in the sink. ALL colors-even water soluble mediums are toxic for the environment and shouldn’t be poured out through our water systems damaging our water and in extents animals. This applies even to water colors! This was something I myself was oblivious to for so long despite it being so important. I’ve never seen this being addressed in any tutorial or similar before, so I fear most ppl doesn’t know. Pls be creative with a conscious ❣️
Thanks soo much for this tutorial. I always wondered how my loading of the brush was off. I either do not have enough of paint or too much water...now I will practice more..I practice on mixed media paper does that have am affect on how paint comes off the brush?

I’d love to ask some follow-up questions. Just off the top of my head I don’t think it’s your surface prep I think it’s in the brush, load, tanning with water, and brand of paint. Somewhere in there. Acrylic can do any of the oil techniques that you’re familiar with. It sounds like what you’re describing is the brush ability and drag of the paint. What brand of paint are using, what brushes and filaments are you using in the brush head, and are you sending with water when you load the brush?

A lot of acrylic artist don’t use them because of the slow or dry time. You can’t accelerate it with a hairdryer. I’d love to ask some follow-up questions. Just off the top of my head I don’t think it’s your surface prep I think it’s in the brush, load, tanning with water, and brand of paint. Somewhere in there.
