Next one, or the one after, make a V-twin :). Or, or save it for the 500k sub video. But certainly, i'd like to see what your brilliant mind comes up with in that kind of a challenge.
Edit: In regards to your astute observation that you can use a lathe as a mini mill, mind you, there are attachments that give you a milling table instead of a tool holder. Further, you could make your own by cannibalizing an existing mill setup like the ones made for mini drill plates (at the level of parts you're handling, those would be more than enough to handle the job), with a 90degrees backplate attached directly to the saddle.
I believe Mr. Pete (mrpete222) has demonstrated or at least shown one in the past.
JohnnyQ90 esti foarte bun in cea ce faci si clipurile tale sunt foarte interesante,eu te sustin ! 👍
hey john... i'm wondering why don't you make anymore steam things? i'm quite sad to not see anymore of these things :/
Awesome work johnnyQ90. That intake is awesome.
A+++
JohnnyQ90 where can I count those engines
I love your presentation. No repetitive chatter, no shaky camera, no unrehearsed processes - well, you get the picture. Crisp and clean, edited and intelligent. Bless you, Johnny.
1300 thumbs down are those who can't change a fucking light bulb. But hate to see people as amazing as this guy doing such an awesome work.
Keep up the good work bro.
Yeah!! I don’t get that!?!? Or it could be pro’s that don’t like people creating more power off dual systems rather to buy a purpose built 2 cylinder engine. Who knows!!!
People will dislike because of music, lighting, colors, the clothes people wear, their accent, fast forward, slow motion, something they wanted to see that isn`t in the video etc etc..
I highly doubt the people who disliked are morons, but a lot of people will dislike for any amount of reasons.
It`s not all about the content for everyone.
Video too long, video too short, too much this, and so and so didn`t mention this and that.
To automatically assume that it`s jealousy and HATE that drives all dislikes? lol, no..
Maybe some day you will gain some perspective and understand the psychology of the internet, or at least the motivations of other people..
From past experience reading the comments here, his loudest critics are usually people who DO know what they are doing, and dislike some technique he used or the way he did something. Its also likely that some people were lead into thinking, from the title and thumbnail, that he "made" the entire engine, then were disappointed to discover it was a modification (no matter how extensive or clever) of a bought part. I have a suspicion that if the title had included the word "modification", you would see a lot less downvotes. Takes all sorts to make a world, who knows what people are thinking. I wouldn't worry about it, the up to downvote ratio is hardly depressing.
YOU are the mental midget. see my comment.
Thumbs downers are those who use a wallet for everything and do not know how to use tools. Like Corvettes...always a guy with gray hair driving one to replace his lack for erections..nothing but a big Viagra pill on 4 wheels :) Now you will all start laughing when you see a vette with a gray hair at the wheel...same for any sports car ...LOL
It's not JUST the great lathe work.. it's an extremely well produced vid. Great camera shots, well placed cuts, tasteful dissolves, I even saw a rack focus or two in there. Love it.
Like that you left the drilling noises and lathe noises in most people don't do that anymore and I appreciate the sounds I miss metal working
Johnny you know you're an artist, right? I'm not sure how else to describe the things you build. You're the definition of the saying "a machinist sees the part in the stock. He just has to get it out of the metal surrounding it."
i dunno how to agree more with what you just said! i've been fascinated with his creation since i found his steam machines! it must be a gift ^^
GeeksWithFeet I pity the man who cannot see the beauty in a useless creation. I've competed in robotics championships welding, milling, and turning parts. We created machines of purpose, and we created machines with no use simply to advance our skills and satisfy curiosity. I'm very sorry that you can't derive meaning in your life from such endeavors. It's a shame.
Don't feed the troll, dude.
mannys9130 sounds like a Michelangelo quote I learned in art class lol
mannys9130 The FIRST robotics competition Perhaps?
Is there a video showing that this engine is installed in an actual rc car and some test run id really love to see it
Aufa suzzy yes his newest vid when he install his brakes
some rc companies. make a chassis with a twin engine mount, i used to have a truggy with two .21 engines
No not yet
search up the Ofna twin Titan, that has two engines :)
@@itsalexplayz2782 Good luck ever finding one that isn't a few grand though, rare as heck. There is one on eBay currently priced at 2500$.
absolutely brilliant work mate everything you did just looked perfect couldn't take my eyes of the screen
your blessed
Old vid, I know. I'm not a shoulda coulda woulda kind of guy but some constructive thoughts: Running that exhaust port between the engines, and so close to head is bound to create a hot spot on one engine. Probably perfectly fine for display and exhibition running, but if you plan on using this as a power plant of any sort you may want to keep an eye on head temps around that area.
As always, great work and attention to detail!

Rffy
Had the same idea, that and he could have made more power with dual carbs instead of the split single

nice project what about a rotary next
Nice simple design. In 1974 I joined an RC boat club that was associated with NAMBA, (north american model boating association) ..they sanctioned timed speed trials. One of the guys in my club built a gear box that housed two OPS 60 nitro engines. Three straight cut gears on the back of the mount connected both engines to the center gear, starter pully and output collar to drive the flex shaft. His 60 class Hydo ran 82 mph.
Brilliant, synchronizing the two motors with a single carburetor.
I love these videos and i dont know why
I do not know where you have got all this skills but to me you are a genius!
He is a Genius.
You've got a nice workshop. Your workmanship is also very good. Fun to watch.
Amazing precision and creativity... So many precise measurements and cuts...
Johnny, parabéns, você tem o Dom mesmo!
perfect job , Very cool ! ENJOYED .. Thumbs up man ..
ShawnMrFixitlee I would love the opportunity to purchase , please contact me if you are open to it
Dude you're an Amazing machinest! THose things sound bad a$$! You should make a Mini Super charger for it out of a 4 stroke Motor Cycle Oil Pump!
WOW couldn't take my eye off you building this, bloody beautiful,,,,Masterpiece !!!
Thankyou so much man.
I am impressed. Good work High esteem, and thank you for sharing!
Make RC with that engine mate. Must be awesome 👏
Already been done. Used to race rc boats that use two 35cc engines called x-hydros pretty badass boats give it a search if you're bored lol
Awesome project. A nitro engine powered clock would be an interesting to watch fun project. Of course it is pointless and disfunctional, but it would be a great way to show of your skills
that would make an interresting noise...now i am immagineing a swiss clock, or an german "Kuckucksuhr" with it inside
DerZocker2000000 That would also funny. I was imaginig some kind of old fashioned alarm round clock with bells on top
You're a very skilful chap, and I'm impressed by how well that little lathe cuts.
These fast forward making videos are the best love it! Great video
That sound though. Really awesome build keep up your fantastic work ;)
Terrific video and extraordinary skill. More a work of art than anything else. Pure craftsmanship and a joy to watch. All thumbs high up from this humble fan.
Simply wonderful!!! Congrats for the brightness job!
Absolutely fantastic workmanship
Nicely done Sir. Would it be possible to do a vid with the engines offset by different amounts? Just to see how they run/sound. 90° , 45°, 0°.
being able to create anything you need or want must be a great and only understood by the like feeling . thank you for your videos they are awesome !
Wonderful job. It would be an interesting exercise to measure the output and compare to that of 2 single engines.
the level of precision is just amazing
now build a nitro flat boxer 6
with unsymmetrical exhaust for subie-like rumbling sound
for that he would acctually need to rebuild the crank and stuff xD
Sergey Afanasev 22b clone
I think in my case, it would be more feasible to make a straight 6. But I'm not sure what coupler should I use to connect them.
JohnnyQ90, two-stroke 6 cylinders with the same belt-connected topology? Or one with common crankshaft?
i wanna see it run on a boat or a car. .can you make that happen?
Mis Felicidades...
Eres Un Verdadero artista...
Enhorabuena Por Tus Trabajos...
Felicidades...
Saludos... un Fuerte Abrazo...🤜🤛
Simplesmente uma obra de arte. Parabéns !!!
Nice craftsmanship +1
Now turbo it!
CME good idea
how small would this be? XD it's getting serious now!
Turbos on nitro engines don't do anything but ruin them, they make them run lean on high end and a little on low end so you really don't gain anything, maybe a tiny bit of speed but having to replace your engine after 3-4 gallons instead of 7-8 really is not worth it.
You can't turbo a 2-stroke engine.
You can turbo the 2 stroke, but since it has no valves it will push a lot of A/F mix out of exhaust.
However, you could try to fiddle around with moving intake/exhaust ports to make the turbo a bit more effective.
Also you need direct injection, because small carbs are impossible to tune.
And you won't be having that much gains.
But i thought it would be fun little project since you can get turbo keychains that actually build boost.
They have hot and cold side and you can see people mounting them on rc cars.
They need some modifications, and they run very little boost, but it would be interesting just to hook one up since he made that exhaust.
Maybe he could use it to power cooling system or something, idea is up to him.
You are so professional! you have every tools to get the job done
Awesome work! Please keep the videos going. I love watching talent like this.
Hey man. I have watched all you videos, and it's all very cool and impressive. I watched this one last night. I woke up this morning thinking about this set up. The set up now you have them 180 apart for firing order. Just for fun have you played with the timing at all? Maybe for sound difference? Kinda like what people do with the Yamaha xs650 engines with the 277 degree firing mod. I just think it would be fun to play with some different firing orders that's all. Keep making videos, thank you
A
Wwwww..dotkom
Could sound neat, but it would also invite impulse problems in the intake system as both crankcases could become 'open' at the same time.
True. I'd go back to dual carbs. More complicated linkage, but it would probably work.
the sparking is dependent on pressure and these two engines run completely differently as they are totally different but it would be interesting to see it be done I would like to see that also
Sounds amazing
Que excelente trabajo, que presicion y cuánta mano de obra, felicitaciones, una obra de arte!!!,
So cool. Nice work man! Surprised the single carb was enough. I figured you would at least need to use a carb off a larger engine to be able to give both engines the fuel and air they need
Some questions i hope you can answer :)
1. Did you calculate the new bigger flying wheel in any way?
2. is there no need to tighten the tooth belt with some kind of tension pulley?
3. Regarding performance: wouldn`t it be better to use both carburetors instead of just one?
You did an wonderful job so this is no criticism I just want to know your opinion.
Best regards Paul
I'm on your side with the carburetors! I would also find a different solution to fasten the exhaust manifolds and mufflers since he basically strangled the system with that internal nut😅
@@Noshbergh- Actually, it is likely he increased the power on that side of the setup, as the increase in back pressure will likely decrease leakage of his fuel air mix (2 stroke) as well as improve the scavenging through the modulation of the exhaust pulses. Think of that side as tuned, rather than a big old low pressure, uncontrolled chamber.
@@jrstreit418 As for the intake, I was thinking he needs a larger carb, no issues with the dual port feed Imo, I dont know much about nitro setups, but if that's a stock carb I'd imagine it would struggle running both without leaning out
@@IvanU90 with the engines firing 180 degrees apart the carb is only feeding one engine at a time I believe
1. no
2. no
3. no
But the result is wrooom wroom
Awesome 👏 work bro!!! Very cool video!
proves any idea can be made to come true i have acess to this stock at work i gotta give it a shot with a few changes like dual carbs electric start tuned pipes thanks for the ideas
Nice done,
One carb for all cylinders are a solution often seen in cars. Motorcycles usually have one carburator per cylinder, AFAIK because the oscillating gases between craburator and cylinder could interfere leading to power losses. And the length of the inlets is usually tuned for resonance.
Hey John,
From one Mad Scientist to another this excellent creation is begging for a super charger!
Mad Scientist shut the fuck up kid
Trill Matic look at your profile pic then consider saying something else.
Frenzyyy at least I put myself to public Unlike you
Trill Matic my profile pic is me mate look again and reconsider your next reply
Would be really cool if you could build a tiny nitro powered chainsaw using the Bosch NanoBlade thingies.
Yes. That would be very nice. I was about to sugest that too.
swiss have to be a biiig nitro motor...that saw is likely making 4-5 horsepower & gobs of torque.
ROTAXD
That would be a regular chainsaw. I'm talking about miniature chainsaw bars that are meant for woodworking, not for felling trees. The most powerful tool that's designed to use these has a 500 W (0.68 hp) rating, so I'm sure a reasonably small nitro engine would work. But maybe this would be the perfect job for his twin nitro engine.
guess your wish was granted :)
I’m not into all these things but I left UA-cam to play on and you came onto my sight,I could never ever do it but I watched from start to finish and came up with my own conclusion. You are a gifted man....weldone 👍🏽👍🏽😁
Ridiculously impressive, the accuracy involved is unbelievable! And I do cabinet making
I think some people are just jealous or haters. This guy is brillilant.
Saw a guy at Horizon RC Fest this year that was running quad nitro motors on his pull truck
perfect job man! what a lathe machine you are use? JET probably?
UP i Found)
Your a madddd scientists bro that was insane sux i don't have all those cool tools you do but ur work is amazing thanks for showing!!!!
Nice ... I like how used glue in the arbor, rather than making a clamping Arbor very cool!
I also liked how you turn the Chuck into the drill, and use the tool holder to clamp the part. That's a cool little trick. I haven't been on a manual in years. But, if I ever run into a situation, I'll keep this one in mind. Thanks.
A nice work, very clean.
I'm always impressed by the poor, unfortunate UA-camrs who have lost the ability to speak but still soldier on to create these videos. God bless you, brave sir.
Lol... So many of them out there. Thank god they have UA-cam, eh?
I think a lot of youtubers just like to hear themselves talk
lmfao
I prefer the silence, myself.
I’ve never understood that either.
Great job on the engine. You should try making a 4 cylinder engine now.

Great Job. I like your precise way of working
Mate this a very nice tutorial, well presented....I wish I have this skill like you

E impressionante tbm kkkkk
Could you build a RC car out of this? Would be awesome. Two motors drive four wheels. Damn. All wheel driven two cylinder nitro engine
What an excellent hobby.Wonderful to see the result.
I used to have a big twin linked turbo charged engine in my old hpi savage, it had 2 bell housings running to the clutch rather thannthe belt system. It was monstrous
The intake upset me more then it probably should have. I just seems like that would flow terribly and the one carb would be too small. I would've built it with 2 carbs and a 2 in 1 exhaust instead. But then again: you are the immensely talented guy building this stuff, I'm just someone keyboardwarrior on the internet. :)
Edit: 2 in 1 exhaust makes no sense in 2 stroke, therefore the 2 individual exhaust were the correct choice. Thanks Mr. B
Good job anyways!
Hellsslave666 if you're gonna go twin carb, may as well twin pipes. It'd be fairly easy to fab up a nicely flowing intake manifold set up for a bigger carb...tuning would be easier too.
I can sort of understand, tuning one nitro engine is hard enough, let alone 2 with 2 different carbs
I was thinking that 2 cyl. motorcycle engines usually have a 2 in 1 exhaust and that sounds slightly different but it's definitely personal preference.
A better flowing intake with a bigger carb (or probably even the small one) would be a huge improvement though.
I think he should've used a 8th scale carb (.21 motors)
If you notice, he set the timing of the two cylinders so that they were 180 degrees out of phase, so when one was on the power stroke, the other was on the compression stroke. That means only one cylinder is drawing air through the carb at a time. The carb does not need to be any larger, it is just operating more efficiently now because there is near constant air flow through it instead of pulsing air movement if it were still a single cylinder engine.
Beautiful machining, but I bet the piston of the right hand engine will seize after a couple of hours running. It has to cope with reduced area of the cooling fins and added to that heat radiating in from being smack bang next to where the left engine's exhaust is at its hottest.
wow great craftmanship
Lovely bit of machining and invention. Sounds good.
What are you going to use it for?(Asking because of the clutch)
Vladimir Grundler probably some kind of fruit blender. Don't want the fruit to bog out the engine
JoshIsParty all new nitro blend super blender! Very efficient and comes in 20000rpm max
He probably make gas cars.

Awesome job.. high level of precision !! I think it will be good if you showed us the power before and after.
Hey JQ, i love your work, the lathe was my favorite machine.ox take care
this guy likes glue
what do you do with all the metal shavings?
Recycle. Some parts when machined are over 80% waste material! It's just part of the billet/cnc process. The good news is the waste metal is easily and fully recoverable over and over again. The downside is billet machined parts are usually expensive as a result of manufacturing time and so much material going to "waste".
I don't know why ANYONE would give you a thumbs down or a negative rating. It's obvious you are BRILLIANT! I love watching your videos. Keep them coming!
these engine are crazy. super smooth.
Man i was all about this till...... you went with just one carborator on the setup! Smh. It would have been so awesome have it been a real mash of complete two nitro engines, working togeather. Still amazing, but needs 2 carbs hah. Or at least a bigger carb from a larger nitro motor. Awesome work tho.
brandon woodford right, I was looking for this comment
Depends....if the engines are firing at seperate times...it only needs one carb as they wouldnt both be drawing air at the same time
@@hechtspeed They're nitro 2 strokes; every revolution requires fresh air/fuel
@@silverfin198 right...but if each cyl is firing at the oposite time as the other..
.you only need 1 carb
Hecht Speed I agree with you on this, it’s simple and makes total since but at the same time these nitro engines are revving 10x’s the rpm of lets say a banshee twin atv, Ive owned several and all I run is the 2-1 carb setup, but I feel as if these nitro motors on 1 carb would favor one engine/cylinder not matter the tune, but it seems to run good only way to really tell is trial and error I guess and after so long tear each engine down and see the difference
Nitro turbocharged plz
they are basically 2strokes, so theres no point. the excess air leaves from the exhaust port
It doesn't matter if there's a point. Doing it to just do it is the reason for doing it.
ok then why not
Do it to a four stroke mini engine!
Fanis S13 it makes for a cleaner, more efficient combustion, as there is less dirty air left in the cylinder
So good i wish i still had my mini lathe id love to try this....
Man I wish I could do the things you can do with machining and different materials it's inspiring
I like engine!
Now put two of the turbo key chains on it
Bloodlust that wouldn’t do anything
They have one that functions like an actual turbo i think. with an input and an output side
What a magnificent job, compliments.
