Great video. I like learning about compelling use cases like this. You also didn't leave out important details like distance in describing apparent magnitude.
Im very tempted by those glasses, but not sure Id really have much use for them. I need to convince my girlfriend to buy them. When we game together I use the main TV and she has a little 20" monitor that she sets up on the coffee table. These would be a much sleeker solution to that.
These things are actually really good for what they are. I got these because I travel alot for work, and they are so much better for watching movies than a quest 2.
I'm waiting for them to ship my Rokid Air now. Assuming the Rokid Air presents as a normal external screen, my Motorola Edge 30 Pro with the "Ready For" system should let me game in fullscreen easily, or watch videos in full screen, or even try using it in desktop mode on the Rokid (though I suspect it might be a bit blurry for that). I had to get this unit when MRTV first showed it off in an earlier video, I hope they get it to me before vacation - it will be a perfect travel companion. Movies when traveling should also be an awesome use case, in addition to games. Oh, and also; I've already tried Geforce Now on my Motorola. It works great in external fullscreen. Which mean I can play hard core PC games on my phone, and view it on an external screen or - of course - on the Rokid Air... once I get it. Of course you also need a Bluetooth connected gamepad, I got a nice 8bitdo model.

How does this impact battery life? Are the glasses powered by the USB port alone? With the big steam deck monitor turned off, could this actually improve battery?
The glasses are powered only through the Steam Deck's USB-C Port. It's hard to do a full battery life comparison, but as you have said, the internal screen is completely turned off. So I would expect a little less battery life in the worst case. // -Marco
@@mrtvmarco5358 you could simply stream UA-cam or do a looping benchmark and use a camera to record when the battery dies.
