I really want these to be good, but reviews I've seen by people who bought them, and weren't sent them for free seem to be less positive. I think its important to wait for reviews from people who bought a retail unit with this sort of thing, just due to the fact that Nreal likely cherry picks the units they send. I wish all these creators would voice this very important caveat when stating how much they love them.
In this case it sounds like it's a product that actually targets a lot of his specific use cases. I don't really get the impression he's being deceptive, I think it's just something that he personally really likes. Sounds like the dude has just been waiting for a projector he can strap to his face and some company decided to provide that.

The 200inch display is technically the same size, it's just pushed out further. 200inches at 6 meters and 100inches at 4 meters. Its also aided by the 3dof so you can turn your head and get portions of a larger screen in view. Its important to note because the advertising makes it seem like the display is smaller without the app.. it's technically the same size in you FOV.
I really hope there will be floating window support for desktop operating systems in the future, that would be a huge advantage compared to classic multi monitor setups (Even with the small fov). Essentially that would only require a remote desktop software with seamless window support.

When considering this in VR, even the Quest 2's screens give the same as looking at a 1080p monitor (about) the resolution on those is 2880×1700 per eye, compared to the 1080p of these. So maybe the same as working on a 720p monitor?

From reviews on China a lot of people still class it as a VR not AR. It's basically an ultralight head mount hdmi display, you cannot use it while doing other task because the screen are right in the center blocking your view, and there are no build in camera or processor for AR. The recommend using scenario are still station and alone, best fit for people always on the go like traveler, business trip workers or can't afford huge display in their house for entertainment
Breh...ive been waiting for THIS for a looong time! VR is cool but like ALL i want is a headset that mimics buying an OLED TV...this is the tech that should be chased harder in the marketplace!... cant wait for this to be available.

So I'm already thinking about modifying mine. Painting the outside of the inner lense.. then clipping off the outside lenses and completely removing them. So it's just the earpieces and the projector reticles left

I sure want try them to find out though. Just for handheld gaming i bet they're damn good, no looking down if your handheld is heavy for instance, or sitting or laying down anywhere to watch your movies and tv. I just don't see wearing them constantly happening, but i guess that's also not what they're for.
The maximum refresh rate is 60Hz generally, and you can get up to 72Hz under Developer Mode. And the latency is less than 20ms. The image should be clear and have no lag.

Most digital setups have 20-50ms delay so 20ms on the glasses is pretty good! I think with a digital reciever and an HDMI (or similar) input, these could be super useful! .. A VR headset you only really need a pc and the headset and you can connect to pretty much everything but a Playstation and Nintendo.. UA-cam, social media, Xbox, Android/ios, so on. Only thing I could think wanting this over a VR headset is for the AR for now and the lighter weight of them.

ordered the airs from japan a month ago. they are great for steam deck, i use them with both win10 and steamos (after unlocking 63hz for game mode). the simplest plug and play and super convenient. the image is the same size as my 65" tv from about 6 or 7 feet away. there is no input lag and games look great on it, i also use them with chiaki on deck to remote play ps5 when im not in the living room. i wouldnt really want to use them as a monitor, text is clear but you can get some double reflections from the outer sunglass lenses, they are perfect for watching movies or playing games. was worth my 400 bucks for me, i also ordered the hdmi adapter it should be here in a week or so.
@@YZTIRF2DESTINE maybe doublecheck on that. Not all usb-c phones for instance work with the nreal. Nreal uses a specific function that not all usb-c devices support. I'm sure someone on the interwebs tested it with a switch though...
I'll be impressed when glasses like these incorporate a productivity suite for mac and windows. Until then, it's cool, but it's essentially just a static monitor extension. I'll stick with immersed for now.
It's like you read my mind man! I've been looking at personal theater options so I can play beside my spouse who works a different schedule while she sleeps. I want glasses to be like Hololens where it has an infinite FOV and I can play Hololens Minecraft where I place a bomb on a wall and when it explodes it reveals a Minecraft world. Most likely, we probably have to wait a few more years for something like that.
I only have one question left from the video: can you charge the device youre using this on, while having it connected? The steam deck does tend to run out of power relatively quickly.
I believe there are splitter adapters that allow you to plug in a secondary power cord, as well as the Nreal Air, but I don’t know if there is a native solution
Mine came today. I only got them for my steam deck. I have just plugged them into my steam deck and nothing is happening. Do i need to to do any set up to get them working ?

How’s the image in the corner area? My set of Rokid Air has pretty much the same specs but corner of the image is a little blurry and a bit of chromatic aberration. I couldn’t really read the corner text when I use them on my laptop as a display with windows menu etc.
What's the refresh rate? You could have a 1000 inch screen and a small refresh rate. or a 1 inch screen with a outrageous refresh rate. It will suck with a small refresh rate as the graphics will just jitter and stall.
How do I change the Tracking mode on the nreal AIR for steam deck....I know you can change it with the app on phone....but I found myself moving my head a lot that it creates jitter and nausea, I am a very experienced VR user with 0 nausea or jitter issues, I would like the screen to stay fixed wither my head moves or the car shakes the display with be in a space I can easily turn my head back to.....? thanks in advance.

i dunno about that prescription lens insert -- so tiny. but I guess if you're looking at the projection you really shouldn't be walking or anything that you'd need the peripheral vision.

@@roebucksruin if you want to run steam os and want an apu instead of a regular ryzen 7000 cpu or even intel it seems like you care about games. Fair point on tdp though. As someone with a dancase sized pc in my backpack, a laptop is better. Especially if you arent needing a dedicated gpu. Probably good to look at something like a gpd win max 2 or even a ryzen 6000 ultrabook when they're more plentiful. Most current ryzen 5000 ultrabooks can handle increasing their tdp.

The point of my build is to make something fun and attractive, not necessarily performance or accessibility.
At least it’s 1080p. I’ve played with the older ones with like 320p. Wow those were… um, just ok. I only played with those in “movie” mode, never as a pc screen.
Nreal's marketing team have played it smart and shipped every reviewer this side of the Mississippi a free pair in exchange for a review. If these were $200, I might consider them but not worth the current price-tag. Wait a few months for the newness to wear off and get them used on eBay or Facebook.
The resolution is 3840x1080. 1920x1080 per eye? Does that mean its simulating a regular Full HD screen, or is it emulating a Super Ultrawide 3840x1080 screen? Either way it's alot of screen, just curious if you could use it as a super ultrawide

I have them - Honestly a monitor is just "easier" and you don't have weight resting on your nose. THEY ARE AMAZING and super sharp though! :)

I think Nreal could make polarized lens covers - that would thus extend their use in bright locations, even outdoors.

Those are made, they're generally called Head mounted displays.
When they do up to 4k/120Hz, maybe. Need's proper audio output too. Bluetooth, 3.5mm & USB C.

4K 120hz minimum… I’ll wait till they get better… eye tracking would allow zooming in and out of the ar image.

At least it’s 1080p. I’ve played with the older ones with like 320p. Wow those were… um, just ok. I only played with those in “movie” mode, never as a pc screen.

Nreal's marketing team have played it smart and shipped every reviewer this side of the Mississippi a free pair in exchange for a review. If these were $200, I might consider them but not worth the current price-tag. Wait a few months for the newness to wear off and get them used on eBay or Facebook.

No screen door since it doesn't display the same as a VR headset. You can pixel peep if you want.

Does that mean its simulating a regular Full HD screen, or is it emulating a Super Ultrawide 3840x1080 screen?
Either way it's alot of screen, just curious if you could use it as a super ultrawide

I'm curious how the prescription glasses stuff works in real life. I have glasses, but looking at that you need to insert only your lenses? Interesting idea.
You get an insert that you can get RX lenses put into by your optometrist.
