Would you tell me please if the distress ink pads need to be stored upside down (I've seen that mentioned elsewhere), and was wondering how you store yours?

    • @ZucchiniKitty
      @ZucchiniKitty  2 роки тому +1

      I store my distress pads upside down, right side up, or on their sides.... I guess I should take better care of them...lol The only reason to store them upside down is to keep the ink towards the top of the felt... making them more juicy when your using them....

    • @reeniebell871

      @@ZucchiniKitty yes I thought that would be the reason for storing them upside down. Oh wow this video is perfect. Thanj you so much Karen. I recently received my very first Tim Holtz distress inks and watching this has been a huge help. I do have a question if that's OK. Are you able to use Fineliners, gel pens and such like on top of the ink and do you need to use a spray fixative on pages that you've used distress ink on? Xx

    • @ZucchiniKitty
      @ZucchiniKitty  4 роки тому +3

      Hi Kate, yes you can use fine-liners, gel pens, Posca, acrylic paint and pencils on top of distress ink without a fixative. I do not use a fixative over the distress ink at all, it is an archival ink. The only thing I would not use on top of distress ink are water based ink pens with out testing them out first on a separate piece of paper, some work, some don't... lol Take care

Do you think that by layering the coloring page with a light wash of acrylic paint or gesso or spraying it with workable fixative before inking with the oxide ink can prevent the bleed through? And what can I use to fix it to prevent any accidental water damages when I work on the back page or the page next to it? Please share your thoughts and thank you in advance!

I like peeled paint for green, and aged mahogany for megenta (ish) if you want a darker indigo type blue - stormy sky is great. There is a nice shaded lilac for a soft purple.

    Hi Karen, I just received a set of mini ink pads and a big one, they seem dry to me! 😞 I am rewatching your videos on the distress inks and mine do not make the “noise” of ink like yours do!
    Is there a way to revive these? The package was sealed... so maybe they dried out from being in storage

    • @ZucchiniKitty
      @ZucchiniKitty  3 роки тому

      Hi, distress inks are a bit different from other ink pads, most are made from a foam pad. Distress inks are a felt pad and look dry when opened. If you have the Tim Holtz distress tools or brush tools you should be fine, you must first load your tool with ink and rub in on a blank paper to work it into the pad, the tools and inks I have are around 6ish years old so they are well loved and used, your are new, but should not be dried out, it just takes some time to load up the tool you are using...you could try putting them face down. with their lid on, for a few hours and see if that helps
