"You're Valuing This Pre Revenue At 2.7 Million?" | SEASON 18 | Dragons' Den

- Gina Dorodvand and Hawaa Budraa are next to see how they brush up in The Den. They're seeking an investment of £70,000 for 2.6% of their dental device, The Uunn which uses technology to measure the percentage of plaque the user has via an app and subscription service. However, The Dragons couldn't figure out where their 2.7 million valuation came from.
Season 18, Episode 2
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.
#DragonsDen #Technology #BusinessPitch
It is truly remarkable when entrepreneurs value their business in millions without earning a single penny.
Tragic and funny. The Touker deal likely would have helped. They still haven’t made a penny
Tech is another beast altogether. The burn rate is so high, the valuations are crazy, but when it goes right it's a lottery because it allows huge scale and only a small number of staff. Instagram is a 50 man unit. I think they got what they wanted out of this - exposure. Whether or not they receive the investment is the key question.
prepaying costumers pump the belief and value, seemingly, to skyhigh levels where there is no oxygen....
Sometimes it's just about luck 😢
If they have a promising new approach or skills without actually having put this at work, then it is potentially attractive, BUT then investor may need a large chunk of the company.
The cavity between their valuation couldn't be filled 😅😂😂The Commentator is on point
🤣
I bet you wished you could fill their cavity
Your teeth's got cavity
Yoo 😂😂😂
She talked so fast she didn’t realize she was debunking the need for her product 🤣🤣
“You get lots and lots of those. Use them everyday for two months and it could cost you £2-3.”
I'm like "sh*t, I gotta look into those!"
Peter: How've you come up with 2.7 million?
Hawaa: So, what we've done is, based on our obscene sense of entitlement...
Deborah is💯 right not everything can be app-able
Another massively over-engineered solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
Exactly waisting money that could be used to feed less fortunate people
Precisely
@@ToXristianikoKanali lol always with the poor kids
@@ToXristianikoKanali you’re such a damn eejit
@@jackking9271 yes till the of times. Till Jesus returns
Everyone is coming to the show pitching a subscription service. The times have changed and people are cutting back on subscriptions.
What a ridiculous counter to TS' 30%!!!
That response says it all.
They have obviously already handed out a large percentage of shares to existing investors and don't have much room.
Maybe they just came in for the free advertisement lol
Im not a dentist, but doesn't the vast majority of plaque form behind your teeth? This only solves half the "problem".
When you smile people can't see the plaque behind your teeth so it doesn't matter
@@Adrian-lc6jq surely its about teeth health? if its just about appearances just use something for whitening them
Spot on mate
Yep I was thinking the same thing. I find my self scraping the inner base of my back molars more then my canines.
@@Adrian-lc6jqhahaha of course it matters you numpty
Why people think there has to be an app for everything?!
Because its a trend and they are narcissists money spenders
Ignore the valuation and the entrepreneurs arrogance… This idea is HORRIBLE!!! ANYONE who is not only willing to spend the $ to buy this + take the time to use this is already brushing and flossing properly and visiting the dentist multiple times a year. So they already know their dental health and from a professional dentist and not a generic piece of hardware. Even if it does work and someone uses it… What are they to do with that info? They’re already going to the dentist and brushing properly? If you find out you have plaque build up (that somehow your brushing didn’t solve and the dentist didn’t see) what then? Do you go to the dentist more or brush more? I mean it’s a completely useless product.
And for people with poor dental hygiene… They would never use this either. They alrdy know they have plaque and do nothing aboot it already.
This might be the single worst product I have ever seen.
The glass divider in the elevator is ridiculous.
I think it was one of those idiotic "protective measures" for the covid thing. You certainly didn't want two people, who traveled to the studio together, to get in an elevator for 15 seconds without protection do you?
£2.7 million company that isn't doing anything.
How ridiculous.
These people are living in fantasy land.
All that money they have raised before has simply been wasted.
Touker makes them a very generous offer in exchange for 30% & they were foolish enough to try to negotiate him down to 3.5% 😂😂🤣🤣
OMG.... Some people. 🤦🏻♂️
it's possible they are only there for publicity
2.6% has to be the lowest ever offered in the den.
An app that tells you where plaque is? Have they not heard of a mirror and mk.1 eyeball?
"I was making quite a bit of dosh out of that" 0:20
These women have an air of smugness that is very off putting.
Totally agree
was just thinking this, there are little mannerisms that some duos do on this show (looking at each other and smirking after a dragon says something, etc) also 3.5% counter offer and they're pre-revenue? surely they knew it would end up exactly how it did
agree
Absolutely, they have burned through a fortune in no time at all and I can't see this going anywhere with them at the helm.
Because obviously the whole point is to get on TV so people can invest on kickstarter for a free product. They're the smart ones, not you.
I like how Evan Davies volume has been massively lowered 👍
The smile when they left just show they were just looking for some marketing for free.
There’s something very Theranos about this pitch.
How so? Theranos had scientists go in after the fact and fake results.
I suspect there’s more money available to them than they’re admitting to. Their attitude to Touker’s offer, when they so desperately can’t afford to survive without it, makes no sense.
Exactly what I thought.
This doesn’t check the plaque on the inside of the teeth either does it? Seems too expensive for something that would miss half the plaque
I think I rather have little shares in something big rather than all the shares in something small, they should have taken the deal
Valuations get worse and worse, does nobody learn from watching previous pitches? Where do these people come from🙄
That app could be telling people ANYTHING it wanted to. I wouldn't buy it, my dentist tells me if I'm doing a good job and if I'm not he takes care of it. I have to go to the dentist anyway so why bother with another APP?
Well written.
The most annoying thing is, TS made an offer on this😂
He knew they wouldn't accept it. You could read it from his face.
It would actually be a great tool for dentists.
They probably weren’t even interested in an investment to begin with, they most likely only wanted the exposure
This might be that time when it’s not the case - close to having to shut it down, no products actually on sale, six month wait til the episode was on tv, they must have walked in knowing that without more cash they’d not be around by the time people saw the episode
Exposure to what? They have 20k In the bank, they haven't even started selling the product yet.
There are cases where some people want exposure but this isn't it, they are obviously desperate for investment
@@MrZeldionFree exposure to the masses for their product. I don’t know how this was cut but it came off like they made a ridiculous evaluation on purpose and wouldn’t budge. For someone to get a return on a £70k investment on 2-3% is going to take an unreasonably long time unless they’ve invented something revolutionary. it didn’t seem like they showed any projection of sales and revenue to give an estimate of when they’ll make a return on their investment and only relied on how other companies have valued their companies. So to me it seems like they intentionally showed up with an impossible business proposal just to get on TV to drive people to their social media and website. That’s also something they also can use for their benefit next time they pitch this product that they gotten exposure from Dragons Den and actually received an offer.
@@iChannelz88I agree , people don't realise how many company's have made money just by appearing on dragons den. It's clear they didn't want an investment. 70k when they gone through half a million already, ridiculous
1. Wrong valuation
2. Overpriced product
3. Wrong Sales Channel
Touker: I'll offer you 30%.
Entrepreneurs: Would you consider 0.3%?
Touker: No.
😂
The 30% was a very generous offer. I was thinking more along the lines of 100% would be reasonable.
Were did these two really spend that raised money on?? Holidays, living the life thinking oh WOW we got all this cash where shall we blow it. Peter was absolutely right to expose this.
Taj is into health supplements. Man, he has tea bag eyes.
Tej is the most annoying dragon in my opinion
He doesn’t look the most healthy does he
LOOL I think that’s just genetics 😂😂
Yes 😂😂
I use an App to check to see if I need to brush my hair or not, only costs $30/month
Sounds good.
lol!!!
Bargain
Interesting that their arrogance and being backed by both their mothers (check Companies House) gives them that push to market something that is just plain odd. Plus a disclosing tablet costs 3 pence each and gives a colour indicator of ALL teeth, not just the front ones.
This product is great for people who suffer with gum disease. They need to go to the dentists to get exact percentage of their plaque. With nhs on a downfall and private dentists costing a bomb. This product could have been designed for sufferers of gum disease- BUT needs to be more affordable
Literally what Touker said…
You can see very early that Tej just thinks it's a waste of time based on the valuation
she was so proud of her elevator story and that was her go to business story. Oh wow you sold ice cream to children
Some of the best bits of this clip;
- we’ve spent half a million pounds of other peoples money.
- we’ve sold none.
- we value it at 2.7m.
I just can't see this being used by enough people tbh. simple things like tooth picks and dental flossers are good enough.
Indeed they sold none since this was broadcast
It may good for dental professionals.
offered 70k for 30% of there business , by one of the greatest guys in the business and they offer him 3.6% they should have taken it that was a very good deal.
How does these guys calculate there business at £2.7 million, need the formula
Howa’s attitude damn, and this technology/ product is not new - it’s available in America ,
At the end of the day a .99 cent toothbrush will remove all plaque on a daily bases.
“dosh” 😂😂😂😂 pretty educated..
They were looking to cocky
*too
@@bungobaggins5837 I hope that's what was meant, I mean 'looking to cocky' has a completely different meaning!
Is it just me or were their personalities a little off-putting?...Especially when Deborah was making valid points.
Their final offer was plain disrespectful!
I see it too wonder if they are that nervous
what a trainwreck
I hate it when people say quid and k, it's unprofessional
I don't know if its the nervousness but their attitude stinks🤣🤣
I'm sure the market for people who are obsessed about the percentage of plaque on their teeth can't be very high
SUPER confidant , SUPER smart ladies however not smart enough to take Toukers offer. No one is going to buy this on an ongoing basis
No one is going to buy it on any basis. Disclosing tablets cost nothing.
@Peter D Exactly. I would love to see what the numbers are like on how many people actually use disclosing tablets at home on a regular basis. I can't envision a market for this at all
Except me.
They're not smart otherwise they would've taken the offer.
They hinted that they didn't have 30% to give away, talking about the structure of how they've raised capital etc.
Respectfully, they’re not really solving a major problem. I brush my teeth twice a day and use whitening strips every other week and my teeth stay extremely white, I haven’t had plaque since a child. Using an app is definitely overkill.
With a valuation like that, barrier to entry, this isn’t investable. Respectfully.
Have you not seen the state of the average British persons teeth?
@@007kash007 This will do nothing to help them. Get in the dentist, become motivated, an app telling you there is a problem isn’t going to enable you to solve the problem or give you the motivation to do so. It’s a shameful grift
It wont enable you but it will be a step forward.
@@007kash007 😂 you’re right - I’m in America, taking care of our teeth is a major plus. I wouldn’t buy an app for an easy problem to fix though. They’re over complicating it in my opinion lol.
@@badgasaurus4211 Spot on comment. Thumbs up.
So many people on here seem to value their business based on future potential. It makes no sense! If the stock market was valued like that then nobody would ever make any money. It has to be based on current value, then the investor puts money in, helps it grow to that future potential and thus makes a return on their investment!
Who really wants to know the level of plaque 1%>5% whatever?. Let’s just assume we ‘all’ have a level of plaque, that needs tending too. Go to the dentist they can check & sort it out. This is ridiculous
"I want 70 K". Try seventy thousand pounds, dear.
Why is there a glass wall inside the lift?
covid
They were clearly there for the publicity only. They did not want any of the dragons on board to begin with and we’re deliberately trying to make this pitch noninvestible. If I had to take a guess they may want to showcase this product to the world and hope that some big corp buys it out from them for millions.
People always say this but it makes zero sense.
Why not use disclosing tablets?
Exactly
But that would be too easy and cheap....
Glad Debra said about a plaque disclosing tablet. Remember doing this is science class lol. Blue teeth for everyone...
You can also but denta l scalers really easily. Seems a bit pointless to me 🤷
Solution for a problem that doesn't exist - just spend the money to go to the dentist to get it removed.
During this pitch, Evan Davis spent the whole time narrating from under the floorboards and burst out for air beneath Deborah's chair after they cut filming.
That's awful. It's not even a joke and definitely not funny. Give up
@@jakecooper5855 aww bless.
They were so not there to get an offer.
Well they didn't take one and are still not launched 4 years later....a business idea that is burning money with no revenue - just looking for more suckers to fund their lives.
What did they spend 450k on ridiculous 😂!! And only left with 20k madness
Show of hands: Who would use this more than 2 times?
Onaria Techonloy is now >30k in debt.
2.7 million is nothing, if this tech can be approved by NHS or similar govt agency. this uses same procedure like an OPG (Orthopantomagram) xray dental machine for mouth. This is a real good self-care dental app... They have got a good exposure on DDen i'm sure they'll see success pretty fast.
It is a terrible idea and they have sold none since this
It's a good idea, just the way it's made.
You just won the 'most stupidest comment award'.
its RUBBISH folks
Selling ice creams at lunch time? Lol.
Junk. Deborah annihilated the idea. If someone wanted to check the plaque on their teeth they could buy those tablets for 2 pounds.
Tej literally told them the truth and the look their faces showed that Tej wasn't wrong.
I don't get out of bed for that
I like the product idea but the cost is too much
I am uunninspired by this idea.
you can get all new teeth for that in turkey lol
two cocky madams
creating a solution to a problem most insurances cover adequately
Do they? Not last I checked.
30%
Counter 3.5%
:)
This happends when u ask chatgpt "how to value my startup"... great idea, but in the end u gotta be able to make money and close deals, even if that means you delute urly investors and lose more equity. the experience a man like Tukan and his network can add, is more worth than 2.7 million.
Their dragons den appointment was at 2.30
(Tooth hurty)
Wahhhey...
Probably should have took the offer, seemed to give a lot, but wish them every success.
Terrorist
They already failed. Company is worthless and now non-existent.
£70k for a 2.6% share 😅
Ridiculous counter offer 3.5 % seriously
This should be called Grumpy Dragons
Or you could buy plaque staining tablets.
Nobody seen the disclosure tablets?
Those coloured tablets do the same thing
peter ages like wine he is so dilfy
Just there to promote it
I swear there’s a tablet the dentist gives which you put in your mouth and colour shows up on the plaque so you know where to brush. Surely that’s way cheaper lol and already in the market.
Yes, they're called disclosing tablets. But it's messy.
When was the last time you thought mmmmm wonder what my plaque level is? 😅😅😅😅😅
This is without a doubt the most ridiculous idea have seen in the den. Get a six month checkup and the dentist can just remove it? Why do you need this haha. You would just go to the dentist after anyway????
Why is she showing her ankles
Imagine not being allowed to shave public hairs. Some husbands unfortunately have their wife wearing a turban too
I hope You never show us your ankles or any body part for that matter those hairs that you never shave or groom or cut🤢🤢
@@007kash007 They all do it regardless of their faith, every sikh I know cuts his hair.... true story.
if this is commercially viable, why are they getting "grants" from public money???? they are indeed very smart, while the public gets duped.
I use a mirror to see my plaque
I would not replace my ordinary health insurance with getting this item. And if I'm going to pay that much extra for dental care, I will first increase my coverage to have more regular dental visits.
Ye
Well written. 2 visits a year to the dentist is all anyone really needs... and obviously looking after their teeth too.
Trash product, and ridiculous evaluation. That 3,5% was a slap in Touker's face lol
the idea is good but way to expensive
surely this not for me. They got a deal even that and they didn't take it. When they have no money or little money left.
£123 for 6 months for her family. For dental insurance. Free hygienist 4 times a year? BS!!!!
Ha ha. I was thinking the same - free hygienist 4 times a year? How? Pass me the details
Tukar made an offer so he can try and have 2 more wives 😂😂
Lol
They're very nervous. Thats all. Not smug
Those are two air from the neck up children
Coming back with 3.5%???!!! Clueless.
these poor ladies , I mean smart ladies 😂think they’re onto something
