I made practice routine for beginners with this guitar so everyone will understand what exactly to do everyday! This is gonna be a great supplement lesson for my Guitar Wisdom Subs. You're very welcome!
You may know this but I’ll go through it anyway. If you tune the A at the 7th fret on the D string and tune the rest of the strings to that you will have the guitar tuned as good as it can be. This is how Tony Rice tuned. I have been a luthier for 50 years and found every guitar to be different and this method works. Also using a tuning fork teaches good pitch. Thanks for sharing and the new guitar is very nice.
I love using the tuning fork. I have my Dad’s smaller A tuning fork that he’s had for decades, and I used to hold it near my ear to listen to pitch. I never thought to use the guitar’s soundboard as an amplifier until I saw Tomo do it in a video.
@@Alan_Chapman there’s a video here on UA-cam where Tony Rice emplanes how he tunes. Crosby, Stills and Nash uses this method, they call it super tuning. I still have the tuning fork that my first guitar teacher gave me.p in Utica New York 1963. You have a great day.
My wife and I got an Orangewood Morgan Mahogany Live Natural Burst too, and love it! Can’t recommend Orangewood enough, stellar quality at the price-point. 🤙🏽
I think I finally realized, you are the Mr Rogers of guitar video, warm and welcoming and encouraging. What a great sounding guitar, would be nice for taking to the lake instead of my nicer one.
Nice guitar and you playing shows it is more about the fingers than the instrument. Iv had a few beautiful mahogany acoustics including a very old martin and currently a Babitz Spider all mahogany. I love the beautiful mellow tone. Reminds me a bit of an old Harmony I used to own . Sounds really good and many will be able to aspire to own the same guitar you play and enjoy. Namaste Professor!
Can't believe I missed this when it first came out... stupid YT algorithm ! Fantastic guitar box launching... I mean, unboxing ! Enjoy the new addition !
Awesome to see more going into guitar Wisdom , which I personally love and go to every night possible. When I'm not there I practice the exercises and triad patterns written down in my notebook plus go through the William Leavitt Complete method book to learn sight reading series.
Thank you so much for your attention! Most people watch a few minutes so I play a lot of interesting ideas for my Guitar Wisdom Subscribers. They watch and they catch these important solo guitar parts!
I have an Oliver Live. $250.07 shipped to my door in Virginia with a nice soft case. Box had a 6" x 6" hole but guitar not damaged, FedEx hates guitars. The Oliver is VERY high quality at any price. I am stunned at how heavy it is. I suspect VERY overbuilt. The bracing I can see is THICK. Not sure why. It's from Indonesia. Maybe they worry about the high humidity wood going to winter environments and cracking? The finish quality is stunning. The neck shape is a C and not bad, a bit fat but I have small hands. Not sure how they make such a lovely appearance guitar at this price point. The tuners are terrible, not smooth, notchy, terrible, but the buttons are very nice. Intonation is very good, not perfect but better than most guitars out of the box, you can see where somebody carved on the saddle to set it up. With the Ernie Ball strings it is a finger tip murderer and a pain to play, needs lighter strings but I'm afraid it will lose volume of which it seems to have a deficit. But even with the relatively heavy gauge strings on it from Orangewood it's not very loud. I think the top is VERY thick. Not sure. I'm hoping it will open up. Perhaps I am too used to my Yamaha's and I expected all mahogany to be louder and moodier. I'm playing the crap out of it. The pickup is EXCELLENT, I am surprised it's so good, I put it on full bass setting and full volume and it sounds better than with no amplification. It is a stunningly good deal for a quality guitar, buy three of them.
This is so true, my parents would have me tune by using a tuning fork and my ears, and that dang b string was always the most difficult. I’d always have it sharp.
I’ve been practicing tuning my guitar via a fork and my ear for the last couple of weeks and it’s actually had an impact on my playing. Funny you used a fork today
All of my acoustics have been Takemine or Yamaha for years - it looks like I need to branch out to see where something from Orangewood fits. Especially at their prices!
Tomo Fujita sensei, I may be a budgetless right now but for now I am currently using acoustic guitar that I bought using my school pocket money (Im beginner) but actually inside my heart I really² want to have/play electric guitar, no I want to be an electric guitarist that's why after I graduate from school this year I'm going to have a part time job and bought my own eletric guitar. So I want to ask you am I doing great? I don't want to be left behind or should I have bought the cheapest electric guitar and amp perhaps? Btw great video as always 😁 looking foward for your next guitar learning technique, exercise and more advice.
This guitar is great for beginner, intermediate players but even you can play this for a professional gigs! Definitely better to have a better gear. But technically this guitar function really well. For electric guitar, I highly recommend Ibanez AZES31. Great guitar! I think people need to spend a little more money for guitar education. That's why I created my Guitar Wisdom ($14.99 a month subscription guitar video lessons!)
@@TomoFujitaMusic the concept of there being a problem with "perfect" tuning on an imperfect instrument is foreign to most folks.. you should do a vid on the pythagorean ratios to demonstrate why the problem exists.. my father was a professional orchestral musician and tuning issues were the bane of his existence throughout his life.. rather sad, actually
