This is so awesome. There's a clearly classically taught musician and music nerd there, two musical historians and craftsmen, expert at their job and then there is Rob, playing Smoke on the Water on a 130k classic, collectible guitar. Just making random internet guys' dreams come true.

brandon is such a passionate individual. It actually seems so bizarre to me that someone could spend so much time learning about history, and still sound like he plays 10 hours a day. it's incredible that someone could be a historian and technical virtuoso. he's a god among men, and he carries himself with the casual humility of someone who is absolute sure of himself.

The Vieuxtemps Guarneri is a violin that is older than the United States of America - 273 years old, to be exact. It recently became the most expensive violin in the world, selling for an estimated $16 million.

Hey Rob - this is no doubt going to get buried in the comments but I thought I'd put it out there anyway:
Since you've been doing this series of videos about different and interesting players and instruments, I couldn't help but think of my bass idol - Michael Manring. That dude is seriously an amazing player with a crazy unique instrument - the Hyperbass. It's a 4 string fretless, 3 octave bass with really light strings, outfitted with extender levers on EVERY string, a bridge that can shift tunings with a lever, AND a pickup for every string in addition to 4 body pickups. The way he approaches and plays the instrument and just approaches music making is astounding, and to top it all off he's a super down to earth guy!
I think that if you could get in touch with him and sit down to chat about the instrument and his style, it'd be a really interesting conversation for people to see. He really pushes the boundaries of how I've thought about my playing and how i listen to music, and I think it'd be really amazing to see him on and spread his work around to others.
Love your work Rob, keep the amazing content coming!
Edit: thanks for the likes guys! I appreciate it and hope you enjoyed the new music - here’s hoping rob sees!

Also Stradivarius violins cost 10 million on average and some go much higher, the reason being that Stradivarius himself died before he gave anyone the formula on how to make violins with such superior tone quality, and even the most talented experts in the world haven’t been able to figure it out since. Because of this, the only Stradivarius violins with that superior tone quality that exist are the ones he made during his lifetime, which is why they start at ten million each.

They were kept in a bank vault. I played $10,000 dollar guitars. I dreamed of someday owning one. I never did, but I learned to respect cheaper guitars that sounded great.
