When this guitar is 270000 a real old guitar ( befor 19s ) must be 10 millions!!!
My father's violin is older than this guitar (at least 50 years) it is not a famous brand but he believes it was made by a master luthier in Bavaria for a professional player.

Hey Rob - this is no doubt going to get buried in the comments but I thought I'd put it out there anyway:
Since you've been doing this series of videos about different and interesting players and instruments, I couldn't help but think of my bass idol - Michael Manring. That dude is seriously an amazing player with a crazy unique instrument - the Hyperbass. It's a 4 string fretless, 3 octave bass with really light strings, outfitted with extender levers on EVERY string, a bridge that can shift tunings with a lever, AND a pickup for every string in addition to 4 body pickups. The way he approaches and plays the instrument and just approaches music making is astounding, and to top it all off he's a super down to earth guy!
I think that if you could get in touch with him and sit down to chat about the instrument and his style, it'd be a really interesting conversation for people to see. He really pushes the boundaries of how I've thought about my playing and how i listen to music, and I think it'd be really amazing to see him on and spread his work around to others.
Love your work Rob, keep the amazing content coming!

Right before I rewatched this, I was reading about all the great luthiers featured here in Making Master Guitars. Ramirez, Hernández, Hauser, Friederich and Torres. This video made me gain a new found appreciation for why these instruments are as special as they are. Putting them into context, they come from a very different time, where you couldn't just make 2 guitars sound similar with post-production tweaks, so players would shop with their ears, picking guitars that suited the way they played and that's definitely something that I need to remember going forward, designing the next 2 instruments that will take me to graduation.

Very cool video! It takes me back to my first concert which was in the late 60’s or real early 70’s. It was in St Pete Florida in a small intimate setting and it was Segovia. I was enthralled and amazed at the dexterity of both of his hands. I am still amazed to see great classical guitarists play.

I'm way late to this party, but what's even more special to me than the guitars is that there are other people who are just as passionate as I am about these instruments.
I'll never be in a position to play guitars like these, but I would love to be in a room of acoustic/classical guitar lovers like these guys. I almost teared up when they said, "listen to what the guitar tells you to play"...I thought I'm the only one who thought that way. It's great knowing I'm not alone. It brings the humanity back into an otherwise robotic existence.

The suggestion was absurd though. He was trying to sell the guitar by basically saying that it played itself. Wth? I suppose "tone wood" back then could not only be very..tonal...but could remember the songs vibrating through them AND play them back through the fingers of the player. Hahaha... silliness
I get why someone would pay 150k for it (not 280) but selling it as if it has the spirit of dead masters in it is just gross. It's collectable. The history is awesome. It's of a quality that might cost 1k today though. Unless I'm wrong. 😯

@@CynHicks He wasn't saying that the guitar played itself, he was telling Rob to just play what felt right to him. These sort of videos are precious in a way, leaving a record for history. Platforms like UA-cam are so new to us that I don't think we realize what we're doing for future generations. This is a document that's more valuable than any Wikipedia entry describing these guitars. We get to hear them and have contemporary experts candidly commenting on their feelings regarding the instruments. Can you imagine having such a record from 2000 years ago?
