My theory is that the prison is really more of a work/concentration camp, and the prisoners are being forced to build parts for the Death Star without knowing it
Agree. It’s almost certainly Death Star production. Every bit is produced in separate facilities so nobody knows what they’re working on and nobody ever gets out so nobody can ever talk about what’s being made.
@@Wynneception I still wonder why people speculate so much on what they're building. It doesn't matter. It's just cogs in the Empire's war machine. It's such an insignificant point to focus on.
I think it 100% does not matter what they are making. I forgot that a Sith was running this Empire. The prisoners are and are making one more thing for Sidious to have.

This Series just keeps getting better and better! I've never felt more terrified of the Empire and what they are capable of doing... This series is showing sides of both the Empire and the Rebellion that I never knew I wanted to see. After the Sequels Trilogy I lost hope for the Future of this Franchise but Man... This Disney SW Shows have brought Hope back to this Star Wars Fan!
I loved the sequels and don't understand the hate. The first I saw in theaters and I love the characters and fights and new troops and planets, but it also has more humor which is important, and part of what makes Marvel so good too. I still like the prequels better though. But this show isn't really Star Wars. People watch Star Wars for fights and cameos and this had none of it in this episode and even thee whole show has barely had anything to keep people interested. The big cameos are the best reactions and why people watch shows
@@fuzzyotterpaws4395 I don't hate the sequels, I don't hate anything... it's just the character in set trilogy were handed everything without training or minimum training (Rey). And most importantly it didn't make any sense! So, I'm not throwing hate to the sequels I'm just saying I didn't like them so when I'm watching this Disney+ shows it brings back all the emotions I had while watching the prequels, clone wars and, rebels.
I love this show and to me this embodies the real terror of the empire and makes us fear them which is what the empire should be, but the other shows excluding mandolorian all make me feel nothing towards them
This show has done so well in causing us to dwell in this time in history. Sometimes the thrill of victory swallows up all the memory of the people who suffered before and fought to make it possible. Andor reminds us of them.
This is a great and intense episode and can't wait for the breakout episode. I think Kino is going to sacrifice himself for the other prisoners and Bix is going to be saved by Saw And Luthen. Dedra is one of the best SW villains in a while and is like The Kim Wexler Of The Empire. This And Mando Are in a league of their own.
I really loved this episode! Just like last episode I loved the pacing and how we were able to check in with all the characters/ storylines without it feeling rushed. I also think that cutting back and forth between storylines was done better in this episode than even the 8th episode. And this episode was so tense, I was worried and sitting on the edge of my seat the whole time. I also really liked all of the parallels between all the storylines, weather it be Cassian and Mon Mothma or Syril and Bix. And I loved Dedra’s line “You pull in the net, and the easy thing is to assume that everything you’ve dragged to shore is a fish.” because not only is it a very menacing line but it is super ironic. She talks about how the Empire shouldn’t assume that everyone they bring in is exactly the same and as they seem, but meanwhile Cassian Andor has been sent to prison with no investigation on what he has actually done because the Empire just assumes that he is like everyone else there. This episode also (even more than last episode) really made care about Cassian’s prison team. I so badly just want to see them be able to escape with him, but sadly it is unlikely that they will all make it. And Ulaf’s death was so heartbreaking, and I liked how his death was the final thing to make Kino side with Cassian. And speaking of Kino we got to see so much character development from him and how he truly acts, it made me like him even more and is what made me want to see him be able to escape with Cassian and the others. I can’t wait to see next week’s episode, I am super excited to see where the story will go and how Cassian and the other ms will finally make their escape.
That Dedra and Syril scene in this episode is to establish that they've met outside of official business. This fact will be used by her assistant later, after Dedra's operation fails in the finale, to stab her in the back and bring her down, as she's been warned by Major Partagaz. Then the assistant, ( what's his name?), will get promoted in true Imperial fashion.
Is kinda funny to me, the fact that the empire is looking for Cassian without knowning that they already have him in prison, even when they decide to be competent they still somehow make themselves look bad
I like the juxtaposition between Andor and Deedra. Both are trying to get information from someone. One is using deception, threats, and torture while the other is appealing to their humanity, facts, and survival
I saw a quote from the actress who played Dedra talk about her character “Tony wrote the first scenes for us to cheer for Dedra, but in the end you don't do it anymore. She is not just a woman in a men’s world, but a fascist in a world of fascists. It was important to see that power corrodes women as much as men” just woh…personally writing this kind of antagonist is tricky cuz usually it’ll easily ends up as a generic irritating force, but in this case Dedra is such a competent officer I kinda respect her…while understanding she’s a sociopath
The shot in the torture scene as the door closes and frames the troops feet as they walk past the room as she screams is ripped straight out of Leia's interrogation scene in A New Hope!!
I think the one thing that got me was the Ulaf scene. The doctor says...."I can't help him. I can't help anyone." And then calls for a bag and a trolly, and the guard says its already on its way down....The doc was never there to try to save Ulaf. They don't save prisoners. They replace them, because its easier.
The last few minutes of this episode made me extremely hype tbh. Hearing what happened on Level 2, seeing Andy Serkis' character switch slowly and finally answering Cassian's question was just... muah
I know it's incredibly dark, but the way Dr Gorst explains the torture process was really delightful and creative sci-fi writing. The actor delivered it brilliantly too.
Cassian repeating the "how many guards" line at the end and then Kino actually answering the question this time around gave me nipple chills. It's time for Prison Break: Star Wars Edition! Andy Serkis was phenomenal this episode. Also, I've really enjoyed the 3-4 episode "arc" platform this show uses. It gives it a somewhat unique feel somewhere in between episodic and serial. I also really like the longer episode lengths and having more episodes in the season. I feel comfortable saying this has been my favorite of all the Star Wars shows so far.
I am glad atleast Gorst is enjoying his job. I imagine him and preparing his speech. I only say it half jokingly because you think it's messed up until he says that they refined the screams to only include the ones of children. And that's when you put the headphones on. Brilliant.
I was so upset we didn't get to hear the children dying. My twisted mind that lived Obi-Wan was so excited but they didn't have any of it play lol. I don't like kids so I doubt that torture would have worked on me lol
The moment I realized they weren't releasing people, but recycling them back into the system, I got super hyped to see how the breakout will be done. Will it be the whole platform or just a few? can't wait.
One of my biggest surprises this season has been how much I've enjoyed Cereal's storyline (I know that's not his name, I just think it's funny that Ciril is always eating Cereal). I kind of really want him to go fully psycho and do something to try and win the ISB chick but it backfires and ends up helping Andor.
Anton Lesser is basically playing the same role he plays on Endeavour. love him. then there is Andy Serkis, brilliant! never imagined i'd care about his character when we are first introduced and i felt that his talent would be wasted...and yet he showed us, without uttering a word about it, a man's convictions change masterfully in just 15 minutes of screen time. this episode was so fucking good despite being a "bridge", talk about keeping you puckered. amazing writing. the best writing in the franchise. love the development of both Meero and Karn as well as their strange relationship.
mannnnn, that last line. this shows got me feelilng like starting a revolution. and dang, after working soul sucking factory jobs for so long, these prison scenes are especially hard to watch. feels too real
I grew up with Star Wars. I waited in line with my dad for the opening of Empire Strikes back, it's been the background of my geek life every since. It sagged a bit with the prequels and the growing hatesphere of fandom over the last 20 or so years, but Mandalorian brought back the spark. But Andor? Andor is the best GD Star Wars I've ever seen, by leaps and bounds. WOW.
The torture build up by Joshua James (Dr Gorst) was acted superbly. That whole scene is as dark as Star Wars has ever got. Torture by the audio of the screams of children being massacred. Brilliantly pushing the envelope on more mature story telling in Star Wars.
Last episode as they mention the facility is understaffed. It makes me think that this is a 1st stop for a lot of inmates, the next stops would have more guards.
Bro... Andy better live.... I stg I will break every program if this man doesn't finally get the freedom he was promised for his resigned servitude....
Great watch. By prison Break time next week, it may become more clear that a lot of prisoners could be Rebel candidates, as well as Jabba like loan sharks, working the edges, helping finance the rebellion to ensure cash flow. Not ideal bedfellows. Plus expect Luthens next gamble to fail, and so that may be a way to resolve Cassian's role, in that Luthen is no longer hidden, so Cassian can become a rebel leader, with good planning skills and intuition.
I know, and I love it! This show is pretty boring but that part excited me, but I was really disappointed we didn't get to hear the children screaming.
@@TJ-jw1wm let him be, he's a troll. He's been commenting how much this show "sucks" on multiple comment replies, he just wants people to tell him he's wrong.
The thing about the recordings as torture, is it's not JUST children dying. It's the young of THAT particular species, dying. That species makes a noise as they die that is especially destructive to the psychology of most other species. It's probably an evolutionary defense mechanism to drive off predators when they attack one of them. One death keeps the entire group safe. Those of the young are probably especially horrible as they're probably also a much more vehement cry for help along with whatever that death-noise is. It's some combination of frequencies and such that overloads the connections between the auditory senses and the unconscious mind, creating completely inescapable negative emotional responses. All of them, at full power, without cease.
Thinking back to the beginning of the episode with the power surge when the rumor started going around, that's most likely the moment 100 prisoners were fried to death because they found out about the unjust system that's going to keep recycling prisoners. Gave me some actual chills! I love this show
Here’s an Easter egg. Melshi is a rebel commander that helped lead the ground attack against the empire during rouge one. So you might wanna expect him to make it out of the prison too!
Did you notice the homage to _A New Hope_ when the door to the interrogation room closes downward and we follow the leaving guard's feet? Taken almost verbatim from the Princess Leia interrogation scene on the Death Star. Nice touch! Syril is going to end up killing someone. Whether that ends up being his overbearing mother or Dedra (for multiple rejections) remains to be seen. Speaking of Syril, am I the only one who thinks that one of Cassian's prison team looks like he could be Syril's twin, but with a different haircut? It even looks like the same actor! *THIS SHOW DESERVES WAY MORE ACCOLADES!* Spread the word to your friends sitting on the fence. Never mind that it "doesn't have much action". If you NEED action, go watch a football game instead. This show is every bit of fantastic.
I am loving this series.. I didnt know star wars franchise is so good.. I started watching old star wars movies and catching up with other series like Mandalorian.. (sorry for my English)
Man it really will be crazy if it turns out that Deidra is Andor’s sister he was searching for in EP 1, which is almost forgotten story point at this point. That would be crazy how that would play out when she finally finds Andor. Andor would have been searching for his sister which was the thing that kicked all this story off. Deidra would have even hunting her own brother she didn’t know he was and likely thought dead.
The guy from 4 to 2 means that when you finish your sentence, you aren't released, there were loads of buildings in the lake when Andor first arrived on the planet, its likely when you finish your sentence in one building, they just move you to another so no one recognises you. He was likely meant to be moved from level 4 in this building to level 2 in another, but a mistake happened and he was moved into level 2 in the same building. Thats what i assume anyway.
Syril Karn being obsessed with Dedra is the simplest thing to understand. The man's attracted to a dominant woman who appeared to go out of her way to do something nice for him. Basically, his mother without the constant brow beating, but she has already proven that she'll exert negative force over him, so she IS his mother. It's a twisted sexual attraction because he's twisted. Deep down, he longs to be under the heel of a punishing female. It can twist further, though, and he could try to physically harm her if she doesn't allow him close to her. By hurting her, he would be hurting his mother.
Good call. But I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up killing his mother, maybe accidentally. And somehow he believes that will free him to fully commit to Dedre. But I'm shocked by so many people saying that she's into it - I don't think she is at all. I think she see's him as unstable and unstable = dangerous, to her career if not her actual life.
@@kathrynbedrosian3464 - I will be disappointed if they write Dedra's character as responding positively to Syril's fixation. The man's delusional and has already proved that he would ignore boundaries when he grabbed her and yanked her close. Yes, she's not a good person and hasn't earned our goodwill, but she's proven to be intelligent and wiley enough to go up against dismissive chauvinists-- being attracted to an obsessive, delusional weirdo who's incapable of progressing her professional life, would be out of character.
I took the final scene to mean that no one ever gets out of the prison system. They just transfer them to a new prison. This time they made a mistake and just moved him to a different floor. Anyone else think that?
I don’t like what they did with Syril’s character. He has nothing to do. He’s just spinning his wheels eating cereal and creeping on Deedra now. Yuck! He was so interesting in the first arc.
Andor is a way is the Han Solo of this storyline - the thief and mercenary who ,over time, realizes and appreciates the higher ideals of the rebellion and eventually becomes the hero. Relates to the idea of "scratch a cynic and underneath you'll find a disappointed idealist", In Andor's case he is re-connecting, - or maybe for the first time connecting,-with that part of his character..
Andy Serkis’ character will get fried… that would totally explain Snoke’s physical appearance. Perhaps his body will be used for experimenting later on… I kind of see things developing in this direction…. Very interesting 🧐
This show is just so good. I don't know what would be more impactful, they are building parts for the Death Star or the parts they are putting together in one of the prison cells is then taken apart by another, totally meaningless
"Space Kevorkian!" LOL!!!! Wit like that is why I value Reel Rejects! Of course, then there's how you ended this commentary (rolls eyes at Zombie comment :)).....LMAO!!!!
And here I thought this show couldn't get any darker. Poor Ulaf. He was dead the second he entered the prison. They all are. They don't know it yet. But they will.
I find it interesting how the use of British actors and the Queen's English gives such an aura of domination of a colonizing power. There is the feel of pettiness and weakness by individuals gifted with privelege. Yet collectively they seem to master the space around them through applied learning and committed precision and careful organization and ruthless planning and focused execution.

@@tysonas1 Possibly. If the last few episodes are any indication, Karn will do something both drastic and incredibly stupid to prove himself.
Gosh Dedra is evil and yet I love her for being so meticulous and efficient!!
@@MM-vs2et Yeah, I don't think it's important what they are assembling.
I think it 100% does not matter what they are making. I forgot that a Sith was running this Empire. The prisoners are and are making one more thing for Sidious to have.
@@MM-vs2et Mostly because people want pointless fan service instead of intelligent writing.
The buildup of suspense for this prison break is so good.

Everything Star Wars related now needs to step up to the level of this show cause its episode 9 and its still not stopping!
I am never more proud to be a Gilroy then just after watching Andor!!! This show is just incredible and never dull!
I really felt the emotional intensity and despair of the prison knowing that they are never getting out. Thus was the most intense episode for me.
For me, this episode made this show even better than house of the dragon. This is the kind of stuff that I love. Absolutely nerve wracking episode and the escape hasn't even started yet.
Exactly, no escape. They wasted a whole episode, and an hour long one at that. No escape, no cameos, no fights, and no humor. It's not Star Wars. What's the point?

Andy Serkis is fucking killing it. Easily the best performance on the show.

Not sure about that, mate. Denise Gough's just as good as Andy, imho. Absolute legends, the both of them.
Hell, even the _extras_ are top-notch.
“Never more than 12” gave me chills man
This show is definitely my favorite show on "TV", let alone my favorite Star Wars show too!!
That imperciall officer is soooo good. The little tiny smirks and twitches of happiness are so horrifying, but brilliant!
The ending hit me hard as I recently lost my grandpa to a stroke. I was balling my eyes out when that happened.
Sorry man...Rip your grandfather...
Bix is going to be saved by Cinta.
@@noddytransferencias7911 Bix is hanging in the square.
She would have to write an incident report.
Is kinda funny to me, the fact that the empire is looking for Cassian without knowning that they already have him in prison, even when they decide to be competent they still somehow make themselves look bad
Ikr, im wondering wether they will be able to figure that out. And if yes then how
“Never more than twelve” needs to be the new “I’ll be back.”
Shrill and his mother and their relationship has got to be one of the most interesting things in Star Wars I love it
The shot in the torture scene as the door closes and frames the troops feet as they walk past the room as she screams is ripped straight out of Leia's interrogation scene in A New Hope!!
I can't believe how fast you get these episodes up
The last few minutes of this episode made me extremely hype tbh. Hearing what happened on Level 2, seeing Andy Serkis' character switch slowly and finally answering Cassian's question was just... muah
That last exchange between Cassian and Kino had me like FUCK YEAH!
Dude i am so tense!!! This show does not let up!
The ending was so hype!
"Never more than 12"
F*CK YEAH LET'S DO THIS SHIT
This episode past so fast. When it ended, I audibly said "Nooooo that's it!?"
The second episodes on each arc does that. It's a bitch but it's worth it for the payoff next week. Can't fucking wait
I was worried the episode was gonna end when they started zooming out on mon mothma

Cereal Boy is gonna go cocoa for cocoa puffs and kill Deedra after repeated rejection, after killing his mom.

"No more than 12..."
The moment I realized they weren't releasing people, but recycling them back into the system, I got super hyped to see how the breakout will be done. Will it be the whole platform or just a few? can't wait.
I hope its the whole but we saw how many came in the ship at a time.Hopefully those that escape went back. That’d be a major hit for the empire.
“Never more than 12” the anger in delivery made me so hyped for what’s to come.
P.S. in my head canon this is Snoke’s origin story
Masterclass Acting🔥
I just realised the actor of the old guy is the same actor from the first artifact collector peter quill went to in guardians of the galaxy in xandar
Shawshank Redemption vibes in Star Wars? Amazing.
This is a great family show by Disney.
When he said he exited on 4 and ended up back in 2, he means no one leaves, when ur sentence is over they just move you to a different block
Last episode as they mention the facility is understaffed. It makes me think that this is a 1st stop for a lot of inmates, the next stops would have more guards.
What a twist, I didn’t think Snoke’s origin would include time in an Imperial prison and then joining the Rebellion
I'm ready to join the Rebellion now. All in!
Imperial interrogator is definitely based on Mengele. Even wearing the same coat.

I love this show
This show is criminally amazing

“Never more than 12” is one of the coldest deliveries in Star Wars
John that piercing eyes and cereal breath comment had me 😆
Here’s an Easter egg.

She's not that would be silly. His sister is a stripper she has huge juggs.
If it does I’ll be mindblown🤯
I hope not because she looks nothing like his sister did in the flashback.
Wow, this had to be the fastest I've ever seen something like this uploaded haha. Let's go!
13:26 I cant believe my ship actually came true like I legit was in shock with what Syril told her .....
This show is getting better each episode ! The tension was insane !
I took the final scene to mean that no one ever gets out of the prison system. They just transfer them to a new prison. This time they made a mistake and just moved him to a different floor. Anyone else think that?
Loving this series. Narkina 5 is the Empire’s Hotel California
I don’t like what they did with Syril’s character. He has nothing to do. He’s just spinning his wheels eating cereal and creeping on Deedra now. Yuck! He was so interesting in the first arc.
They've done it yet again. Another fantastic episode.
DEDRA; don't look at me like that!
SYRIL; why not?
DEDRA; it makes me uncomfortable.
SYRIL; sorry m'lady...
