After waiting for over HALF A DECADE Gates of Hell is finally here and holy balls is it amazing. It's like the AS3 we always wanted with the functionality and frames of Call to Arms. I first off want to thank the team at Barbedwire studios for handing me one of the very few Closed Beta copy keys and with that I promise to you (the viewer) that there will be so much GoH content in the coming months you will leave comments begging me to stop uploading as much (but I won't listen).
Today we have a tough task ahead, we have to hold multiple flanks of a defensive line or our army gets surrounded and risks getting annihilated by the Soviets over time.. we can't let this happen so we have to do our best to hold the line! This isn't easy when your arty spotters are actively trying to destroy your own defenses though D:

ABOUT THIS GAME
Call to Arms - Gates of Hell: Ostfront is aimed to convey the realism that strategy players have always desired: Historically accurate visuals and locations, no health bars, no simplifications, no shortcuts taken. Offering unrivalled immersion to give the most legitimate WWII RTS/RTT to date.
If you have long been waiting for a game that depicts the daring stories read in the books and you crave for a platform that allows you to recreate the battles you imagined from documentaries, then look no further: It is time to enter the Gates of Hell.
The DLC for Call to Arms features the Eastern Front and its “Great Patriotic War” fought between the USSR and Germany. This will take you from June 1941 until the end of the war in May 1945. The game will depict the evolution of the armies and technology during the most devastating conflict of human history.
All the maps and locations have been painstakingly recreated after thorough research from WWII documents combined with satellite and period photo-reconnaissance data.
Single Player missions are based on battle reports and veterans’ stories, delivering authenticity to the maximum extent possible.

Protip for the flares that the artillery officers use: They're flares, not bullets. You shoot them high to go far.
Yeah, luckily with the new DC it's not an issue anymore, you'll see in the next video!
Panzer I was more an infantry fighting vehicle than a tank itself, against infantry, its dual-mg fire capabilities were very good
Well yes, but the enemy wont play nice and send just infantry at a Pz 1 ;)
Finish the German campaign and then move on to the Soviets. Both seem very well made, but I really want to see you progress to the last German missions and whether they are more challenging than the previous ones.
I already saw that they do seem to get tougher haha

Perhaps try resupplying the jäger in the house, put ammo crates from the beginning next to your troops, position mines and build trenches innerly, plus calling the Luftwaffe before they are too close to the defences.
I think you could abandon some lines and make the centre more defendable with troops helping each other more and mining.

Well since u asked the worst Job was being a Flamethrower Operator. They had a mostly a lifetime of 4 minutes in Battle! Because when they reach their Target and they light up the enemys they kick ass. So they got targeted first(which was very easy because they had a fuel tank at the back so they were identified very easy). To the Video! This vid shows how amazing GoH will be! thanks 4 recording this! Bra u have a new sub.

Dont forget mortars. Those could take care of the flak guns easy if they survive the initial charge. That trench on the side of them would help too

So many vehicles you could have captured on the opposite flanks. Could have ended up with a Beute panzer division.

There’s a bunch of things I would do differently, like move my mortars away from the front line, this as a defense mission is kinda shit like the position of those trees on the left side of the flak 88 is really bad because the tanks just charge passed you and because of the trees you can’t see and the AI doesn’t know what to do so it gives up. More work on the ai would be good and the line on the right line needs to be made that it isn’t longer then the left line cause all you shut falls apart instantly
just need to pull the flaks back
Kinda late but I did this whole mission without moving any emplacement or infantry. It is way better if you just control the 88s instead of completely putting them somewhere else
A job worse than manning a panzer 1 in 1942 would be cleaning out that same knocked out panzer 1 in 1942

I'd want to look more into the conquest side of things. Especially because I know that I'll buy the game and dont want to spoil myself ( And know that ill watch your videos 100% or be tempted af all the time before launch).
So something less streamlined like conquest or "multiplayer". Germans preferably.
Also, do you think future factions could include a waffless section like RobZMod? I'd just like to see Camo's.

A worse job than sitting in a tank, marked by everyone else on the battlefield, including close-air-support? beeing a Panzergrenadier surrounding this tank as close defense. Right after Panzergrenadier comes beeing AT-gun Crew followed by beeing the mobile AT-Soldier... Yep, sounds right to me so far^^

Games look really great, only that annoys me is the slow flying airplanes. There should be more punch in these animations.

Unfortunately Panzer I was more of a prototype product, Panzer II would be a better option against light vehicles or light tanks and Infantry considering it has HVAP belt in his 20mm it could potentially take out any BT-5 and BT-7 frontally, Panzer I... more of a mobile machinegun bunker that would break down everytime
Oh for sure, Pz 1 is more of a meme past invasion of Poland and Low countries

You could have tried to move one of your 88mm back to the base. Clear line of firing, and it cannot get flank.
exactly what i was thinking both him and raptor lost the 88 within 15 or 20 min also when he only had one 88 left idk why he did not retreat everything back to the village

i think if he does it again he will probably pull troops closer to the base so it easy to resupply and to create a kill zone

I finished the baptism of fire mission and it wont let me past that for some reason. Get the mission complete then nothing else

Kinda think the explosions looks a bit weedy. Compare these to CoH and CoH2 explosions, which are pretty realistic afaik.

It’s a DLC add on for the game Call to Arms. Must own Call to Arms base game to get this Ostfront DLC. Call to arms was built on Men of War engine.

I think the mission is kinda impossible since ur inf doesnt have any good AT capabilities, the tanks come in way too fast and the armour is way to heavy. With the volume of fire the put up it seems quite impossible to defend the FLAK 88 and the planes dont do all the damage they need to
I don't know why it seems so much harder than MOWAS II, i know in that game that many 88s would have been able to deal with those tanks easily. Maybe its all the trees getting in the way of shots. I think the ranges need to be better balanced too. The 88s should have a much longer range than pretty much all the tanks the soviets are using, and finally i think the tanks need slowed down, they go too fast IMO.
@@enriquejavier8056 I agree, all the vehicles seem to be way too fast and nimble for the conditions, look at those halftracks with WRC car handling...

It is very linear. Just back and forward. No maneuvering, no flanking etc.

@@theShermanator Man of War ? Yes. I did not like that it was kind of upward, downward movement and too much micro. I prefer games like Steel Division 2. I prefer combined arms warfare. Playing a division commander rather than a company commander.

@@theShermanator to my knowledge? I don’t see one. I saw you use a panzer 2 and 3. I base that on the concept that panzer 1s were converted to panzer 2s from 1938 on... Military history visualized talks about this. The game might call it a one.
