I also want to point out the big foreshadowing we got from episode 1: When Sonic go through the Shatterverse for the very first time, we see multiple characters saying different things, most of them foreshadowing what happens and how things change without Sonic around (such as Amy mentioning how the forest is the most beautiful place in the world, or Knuckles being ready to fight) The second thing Tails says in this sequence is "I don't need an army when I've got a friend like you, Sonic !" And Nine doesn't have a friend like Sonic.
*Suddenly it makes a WHOLE LOTTA SENSE why Nine would want to be "captured" by the Chaos Council.* 😨 _What better way to create your own army than to steal the crafting tools from those who have them but are less skilled than you?_ _What better way to create your own perfect world than to usurp those in power and become the one in charge._ Sweet merciful GOD, _I knew Nine was a menace,_ I just didn't realize HOW MUCH until now! 💀
It’s pretty interesting that Nine actually has the opposite problem Tails had. Where Tails at times kinda became too dependent on Sonic Nine became too independent to the point where he trust no one but himself.
ya know.... *and* the fact taht he lives in a dystopia where there's 5 eggmans. Tails in the prime dimmension would not have turned out exactly like Nine. sure his life would ahve toughed him up, but there woudln't be a dystopia to break his spirit entirely and make him hate the world.
I cant believe Netflix could do Tails soo much better than what Sega did, multiverse version or not. This Tails is arguably one of the best, hes independent, has his own goals, fights off them robots epicly and is just overall the opposite of being helpless or "cant defend himself" AND HE LOOKS COOL TOO
Sonic Frontiers is going in that direction of Tails too ish with him trying to be more brave but insecure about it But man Nine is practically Tails but significantly more efficient, since this is the shatterverse and it's pretty much parts of all the characters but split up into different shards of themselves. It's so cool that if you take Tails, Shave off his scared kid side along with his innocence and he becomes this deadly genius. Sure he's still scared of people but it's not to the point of helplessness but rather it's used as motivation (Like in Sonic Frontiers) Also RIP Mangey and Sails, Mangey and Sails got more of the child like innocence and cowardly sides of Tails respectively.
@@dizzyheads mangey got tails’ shyness mainly, and his fox aggression and silence | both love and hate y’all why do all my comments suddenly blow up💀💀💀
I always thought that smile was suspicious. Whatever he's up to means he wanted to get caught on purpose. Also Nine is shown to be somewhat SMARTER then the council themselves by showing he's the first to actually make a machine that can warp realities AND the Chaos council couldn't even figure it out or fix his machine. You don't want to mess with him.
yeah, tails is smarter then eggman, because tails is fighting for good and eggman is letting his own ego get in the way. if tails did turn evil, he would be the top villain of the franchise :0
Yeah, for all we know, he's manipulating them into developing a super bot only he can use. While the Chaos council has a lot of power, I've never thought of them as a real threat, thinking that some other Eggman would show up, but with the Chaos Council being the only ones, I'm starting to think Nine might be the best bet for "final antagonist" 🤔
The original in contrast is what makes this version stand out so much... but when we think about it when feral Mangey tails was so wild and mischievous, but so tame and obedient once he trusts you, even the other tails, Nine is the only one with actual trust issues and I feel each paradox focuses on someone... Nine - Tails paradox Thorny - Amy paradox Captain Knuckles - Knuckles paradox we still need something that touches on Big the Cat more or Rouge, imagine alternate Rouge being a giving saintly bat girl who gives gems and food to all around her...
I feel like Americans don't really understand independence. Or at least take it for granted because they are dependent on so many earthly things. It does not turn into isolation at all. Look up Miyamoto Musashi's Dokkodo. Way of the Warrior.
@@ixiahj nah man. Im speaking on the hustle/grind culture and the golden cuffs. Always trying to find success financially, but ignore success emotionally or socially
@@azian553553 There are many kinds of dependence. The hustle and grind culture you talk about is dependence on material wealth. Emotional success and societal success is dependence on being accepted by peers. According to the Way of the Warrior, everything you need or will ever need in life is found within you. All else is an unnecessary pleasure. Tails Nine is configured like Knuckles from Sonic Adventure when you listen to the lyrics of Unknown from M.E. Its not a weakness at all because he's not lonely or looking for friends. If anything, he prefers to be left alone. That's Dokkodo.
Nine only becomes a villain if Sonic's goals contradict with his. He doesn't really want to shape a world in his own image. He wants his own world and he found it. Its that Grim place. Mostly because he wants out of New Yolk City. If Sonic's goal is to combine the prism shards and it wipes out Grim, then Nine becomes his enemy. But at the moment, only Nine understands the shards. Its why he's using the Eggmen to maybe gather all the shards for whatever reason. His plan is still not clear.
@ixiahj (Spoilers below!) Well, talk about foreshadowing, you predicted Season 2's (er, rather "Season 1: Part 2") finale. That's almost exactly what happened.
Not for nothing he looks like a Kyubi or Ninetale, a mythological creature that represent calamity or misfortune. Nine is clearly a potential antagonist.
Not really, no. Nine-tailed foxes in Japanese mythology can range anywhere from tricksters and troublemakers to malicious entities to even benevolent beings. Some are even holy in nature.
Yay!!! He finally got an analysis, amazing video dude! One thing I do want to add though, I think a lot of people like him because his moral ambiguity makes him more realistic. Hear me out. In typical Sonic games there's a villain and a hero, a protagonist and an antagonist. However, from what we've seen of Nine so far, I'd say he fits the role of the deuteragonist. While variants are clipped back to and given screentime it's usually because a. Sonic is in that world currently and b. Sonic mentions them. However after Sonic leaves in the pirate dimension, we see nine again, with no reference really by Sonic. I think Nine is, and will be the deuteragonist of future seasons. Because there are some things to consider. 1. He's actively important to the plot 2. He's a genuinely engaging and interesting character 3. What he's doing isn't entirely wrong but also opposes SONIC'S goals For the last one let me explain. While you said that Nine wants a world he can rule over, I disagree. Nine wants a world that SONIC TOLD HIM ABOUT. A world where he's loved and happy. Why did he invite Sonic? Because Sonic was the one to give the other him that life. I think what Nine thinks of Sonic is a genuine love and affection (their bond can NEVER be broken) however it might be that Nine only stays with Sonic to coax him into staying with him because Sonic makes him happy, Sonic makes him feel loved. Only problem is he can't stay with Sonic forever because the hedgehog wants to go home, while Nine doesn't try to help him anymore. What's worse is that their goals can't be achieved at the same time where BOTH of them can be genuinely happy. Sonic wants to go home to his REAL friends, Nine wants a world where it's just him and SONIC. Based on how stubborn they both are, it can lead to a MUCH BIGGER CONFLICT. What Nine wants is understandable to, and actually needed for him. He wants to be loved, he wants affection and safety. So even if he does end up becoming the main conflict in the show, I wouldn't write him off as "evil" or a "villain. Because while he's not a hero, he's not a villain either. He's a horribly love/touch starved kid trying to achieve happiness and that's why EVERYBODY who watched this show ROOTS FOR HIM.
@@Ranni Thank you so much!! You did an amazing video, I just wanted to point some stuff out that most creators tend to miss in these review videos! Hopefully Nine will find some way to achieve that happiness he deserves (in my opinion :)) as the show continues!
@@thegreatorochisweg4131 That was because Nine would basically cease to exist if they bring Sonics world back. Plus, he wants Sonic and him to live in the Grim anyway.
I'm loving this exploration of Tails' character through this alternate version of himself. Stripping away one of his defining characteristics--his connection to Sonic--and making his independence into something that holds him back from growing as a person makes me really excited to see what this show has in store for us.
Nine could potentially be a secret antagonist of the show. He seems very untrustworthy and manipulative, and only looks out for himself Edit: the way this comment aged so well 😂
It makes sense, like he said he went through years of abuse and had to do everything for himself. There aren't friends in that universe only allies and enemies. You see how quickly Rouge and Knuckles change on Sonic, ally, then not an ally, ally, then not an ally, you can't trust anyone in that city unless you 1) Grew up with them, or, 2) Seen them prove they're ready to die right then and there protecting whatever side you're on. The environment you grow up in can and WILL shape you, for the good or for the bad, you sadly aren't always given that decision.
Depends where he goes from here. There are plenty of villains who turned bad following good paths initially. It's just a matter of how far he'll go to achieve it, how desperate he may become
This is like a non sidekick version of Tails and I love it! He helps Sonic but he also has his own goals. Edit: A good example is the fact that he sometimes denies Sonic's requests unlike the real Tails for example.
@@canoistercat Yea true, still a relief to see them fix his og counterpart and try something very new with Tails character in the form of Nine. I could be wrong but as far as I’m aware most characters that are sidekicks usually have the same goal as the protagonist. So the fact that both protagonists have different goals in this show separates them.
@@Milkmanrules1032 i know, i too wrote a comment about nine having differnet goals than sonic, but thats the metaphor om trying to say. Nornal sidekick tails usually cant have his own opinion since he has to follow sonic's footsteps, therefore "puppet" But Nine isnt sega's work though, its netflix's and i applaued them for doing what Sega couldnt (Tails is better in frontiers though so i'll give them that)
Something I love is: Tails’ body language vs Nine’s body language. While Tails will usually have his twin tails in motion and spread out, I noticed that Nine always has his bio tails guarded by his prosthetic ones. And we rarely see Nine use his bio tails, except in the rare instances where he needed to fly rather than crawl. To me it feels like Nine completely rejected (or never thought of) the idea of turning his “defect” into a strength and instead took to covering up/guarding himself with his literal and figurative defensive measures.
I feel like Nine being a "final" antagonist/BBEG for the first season is pretty plausible. Or maybe right at the end of season 1, he reveals his true colors to carry the show over into season 2. We've seen how he's different from Tails in terms of Personality/Character, and he's already laid out his big plan, "Start over and 'get the world right'." by making a new world. With Sonic choosing the greater good, maybe Nine will claim the reconstructed Paradox Prism at the last second and create a whole new reality in his image. As a consequence, a darker, crueler "Sonic" would be Nine's "friend" / obedient henchman. Maybe a completely robotic Sonic, a Metal Sonic. After all, a robot is programmed. It would neeeever betray it's master, right? Not like /people/ do, at least.
Another legend about a Kitsune’s number of tails is that they sprout more as they grow older and stronger. That makes me think they symbolize how Nine forced himself to stop being a kid.
I cannot believe how INSANELY ACCURATE this video was…You saw ALL the angels that Nine was gonna a dangerous antagonist. And it shows how good these writers were when creating this story.Cannot wait for the last season.
i love nines character and i also loves how he moves like a spider and spiders are often portrayed to be manipulative and cunning due to the fact that they spin their own traps so that is also interesting
After finishing the second seaon in viewing all I can say is OOOOOFFF, not in a bad way but how accurately you called his character. I can't wait to see how this boy operates in the third season.
Interesting analysis, thought there is something i feel that needs to be pointed out: Nine didn't say he wanted to make the world in his own image, he said he wanted to make one like Sonic's. Except, of course for the part where it would be just the two of them. (also it's never outright stated but i personally think Nine was looking for Sonic). That plus the first time nine came to rescue Sonic he only seemed concerned to get him, specifically. I don't think Nine is trying to isolate himself from Sonic, at least, and am sure their bond is gonna be pretty important for Nine's story going forward.
While nine is sure is an interesting character he's neither a hero not there yet at least neither an evil mastermind he just wants to feel loved and respected by the people around and just like OG tails sonic gave him that
That's probably what is really lying underneath him, but the way he was molded by his harsh world more than muddled that. Now he's clouded by al sorts of anger and ambitions.
Nine is my favorite character in this show by miles. His arc of how revenge can consume anyone is so well done, and I really cannot wait to see more of his arc!
Genuinely feel like Nine dominates as a character in this show, though. Basically every scene and scenario he's involved in is improved by his actions.
I really like the idea that Tails was an actual kitsune. It would explain why he can fly when he spins his tails, he is using wind magic (equivalent) to fly. Nine is a bit terrifying because who knows what his limits are, and who knows what he can or can't do.
Another possibility is that Nine is manipulating Sonic for his own benefit the whole time. I have a feeling that Nine is using Sonic for his energy and nothing more.
@@Milkmanrules1032I totally agree. I mean, 3:20 look at his face. Listen to his tone of voice, pay attention to his body language and expressions. Nine is the clear example of a manipulative villain playing the good guy!
@@MrDibara Or it could also be him finally feeling happy because here he's free from persistent oppression. Here he can start over and live the life he's always wanted.
I think there's a VERY good chance Nine is the final villain of the show, or at least the first season. That Eggman council just isn't very threatening, and Rusty Rose is just a goon. But a version of Tails with questionable intentions and no real moral compass? Scary. I feel line Nine is going to betray everyone and emerge as the true final villain.
Now that would make for an insane finale. Imagine a score like the one from the Final Agni Kai playing as Sonic and Nine duke it out, with Sonic desperately trying not to end his life, but to shut down his seven robotic arms in order to end the fight and have Nine finally let his endless desire for revenge finally die.
I suppose then this would make him an even more menacing villain than Eggman ever was, because unlike Eggman, Nine is luring Sonic into a false sense of security and trust, then he least suspects it, Sonic will be disposed or used up as Nine’s means of conquering the multiverse or “Shatterverse” in his own image.
Very good video. I saw a theory a while back that predicted that Nine could be the final boss of Sonic Prime, and based on what I've seen, combined with this video, it's certainly possible. Nine's dubious morals after years of isolation in a harsh world; Thorn's drive to protect her home turned to mutually-destructive rage; Dread's lust for treasure backfiring to cowardly fall, then potentially back again. I wonder what Prime will do with Rouge, maybe Big too; they promoted her to cast member, so it would be strange if they didn't have her play a lead role in one of the verses.
I absolutely adore Nine. I love the fact that he's ambiguous, and morally grey. Years of mistreatment took their toll on him, and Sonic's kindness just scratched the surface of his hardened armor. Yes, he wanted to create a new dimension based to their wishes, but how? Just shrugging about everything else: the rebels, the Council's tyranny, the pollution that literally ate that world alive. Nine isn't generous, he doesn't care about anyone but Sonic, yet Season 1 doesn't seem to have ended on a very high note on their relationship, given that the fox is prisoner of the Eggmen and bitter about Sonic's leaving (again). We still don't now if he resents his decision to open up to him or not, and Sonic still has to correct his excessive impulsiveness. Honestly, I like how Sonic is struggling with the alternate versions of his friends just as they kept struggling with his own headbutting into problems. Tails is his closest friend, so Nine will probably be the source of main angst. I'm so into it, I love this new side of introspection.
If you ask me, tails nine is the shadow version of tails. Both characters dealing with the harsh reality of life and become independent only relying on either side to fit their goal. So shadow and nine are neutral characters than good or evil.
I enjoy Nine a lot, but even with his "Build a better world" moment (which I no doubt think he can pull off flawlessly), I still don't see any of the evil in him. And I think it's too soon to label him as such. Honestly, he's a complex character because he has so many layers, but maliciousness isn't really one of them. The only character he actually trusts is Sonic. Because unlike the rest of New Yoke, Sonic's the only one to have complimented him. I don't think he's using others for his own self gain. He's just troubled and genuinely wants a better life. Thole only people he's using is The Council. Other than that he's just not good with other people, but he'll work with if he has too.
That's the way I saw this moment too. His mind has been so warped by constant oppression that he doesn't know the difference between right and wrong anymore. He wants to live in peace and freedom so badly that he's willing to do literally anything at this point to get it. It's... Sad if you think about it that way.
I love Nine but I am a little worried about what he's really planning... He did make it pretty clear that he wants Sonic to be a part of this "new world" but does that mean he's ready to turn against the others for that to happen? Then again he could just be just using Sonic but we don't really know yet... I have so many questions and ideas but I still hope everything ends well
Sonic has the energy to do the same thing the paradox prism has So chances are Nine wants Sonic to be in his side. What do you think will happen to Nine once all the shattered pieces are back together however?
@@dizzyheads I don't think the alternate versions or their worlds are going to vanish while recreating the originals back (after all, once you shatter a mirror you can glue the fragments but it will never be whole again and the fragments will always be visible)... Maybe Prime World will coexist with the others thanks to Chaos Emeralds energy (we still have to see them in action).
Nine is my favorite version of Tails. I don’t think he’ll be a villain as in the end he choose to fight for his world otherwise he would stayed in the new dimension. An interesting thing to note is how fast Nine was able to utilize the Crystal power and travels through dimension, something that the Egg Council didn’t thought about and were unable to figure out how to make a machine to manipulate that power.
There is a theory that Nine is planning something, and he allowed himself to be caught by the Council on purpose, and that's why she smirks at the end of Episode 6
@@4wheal i dont think so, he really was concerned when he was captured and he was talking to himself about getting out just with another portal. But still he realized after that that he could trick them and do something from the inside
Also a bit of foreshadowing in episode eight might lead to Nine replacing Rose as the CC's goons, before nine ditches them and goes on his own path. There is a lot of thought put behind most of the characters in this story
Thank you. THANK YOU!! FINALLY SOMEBODY MENTIONED THE NINE TAILS AND KITSUNE MYTHOLOGY!! Like, for the longest while as I got more and more into Tails as a muse, I was always wondering about the connection between a fox with more than one tail. Yeah, it’s a mutation, but that paired with intellect is no coincidence when it comes to the ‘significance’ of tails in kitsune mythology. I always felt that Tails is probably one of the most dangerous characters because he has tons of undeveloped potential. And. In the wrong hands, he could do a lot of damage. Also. He is a fox and foxes are predators. From a biological standpoint, he could eat every main character. The only other threat to him is probably vector because he’s a croc. But other than that, everything about him can make him their greatest enemy. And Nine being warped like this just backs it all up. A mind like that can easily be corrupted by the cruelty he’s had to face growing up. Scars and trauma turning you towards spite. It’s beautiful, honestly. There are so many possibilities with a character like him and the fact that he’s still impressionable. But also. Cute fluffy precious boy, I adore him. HES TOO CUTE!!!!
I dont believe Nine wanted to be captured. He looks surprised and concerned while the light immovilized his craft, even when nobody was seeing him. But i believe he knows he is smarted than the Council, so he thought in that moment he will be able to manipulate them. Nine isnt this way because he wanted, its becaused he needed in order to survive. He wish to trust and feel protected by a real friend. Anyway, Nine was an amazing character. Damn you netflix for keeping us waiting...
i don't think nine is evil at all, he's grown up in a bad world and sometimes he does bad things. he's a loner who doesn't trust anybody, but it doesn't take super long for him to befriend sonic, showing that he's not bad. it might take some convincing, but i'm certain sonic can get nine to help the other freedom fighters! also yes, tails' design was inspired by the kitsune, so it makes sense they went even harder into that concept with nine :D
Nine was definitely the best character in the show I could tell immediately that he was going to be well written and I love how they are exploring both sides of tails as a character
I feel like Nine might be getting set up as a twist hero. It could be that he's actually just a twist villain like it looks like he is, but... That twist is so easy to see a mile away that it's not really a twist anymore. It would probably be better from a writing perspective for him to be cast into doubt in the eyes of the audience, only to end up proving himself later. He doesn't have to fix everything by himself, and his character arc could end up just being that he has to learn the lesson that he has to learn to accept others by his side instead of bearing his burdens on his own.
Nine is definitely going to become a villain, but then he’ll have his redemption. It seems he’s growing very fond of sonic he always was from the beginning. But I bet he’s going to try to get all the crystals, and make his own world, where there it be just him, because he feels he doesn’t need anyone, and when he did put his trust in sonic ,he didn’t accept it. Like sonic left instead of trying to restart with him, and I bet that tipped him off. Now he thinks he dosent need anybody so he’s going to try to get rid of everybody’s one can be by himself again
Tails and Eggman are normally on the same level of intellect, the big difference it ones good and ones evil but the bigger difference is one is young and has more time to grow then the old one, Tails will not only outlive Eggman but become stronger then him in more ways then one. Tails could not only be the smartest and the strongest as time goes on whether he's good or evil but he could also be the richest and influential person in his world, if tails ever goes Anti-hero Eggman is done for 100%. One thing i love about sidekicks is they almost always have more story and potential then the main hero.
When I think about it tails was ruined. By the time forces came around but hopefully tails will change in future games and generations for others like frontiers tails speaking about it
What's interesting about Nine is that he's unpredictable. You can't really tell what he'll do next, but i do think he's on the brink of being villain material.
If Nine ends up being an antagonist or even the final antagonist, it sure would be interesting to see Tails from Sonic’s world go up against Nine in a final battle, where of course his friendship with Sonic proves to be the deciding factor.
I believe that when the situation gets worse, that Ashleigh Balls’s performance will get harsher and more hard hitting. I also believe that unlike the quick fix scene that we see in the first episode between the two, that Nine will be less likely to take Sonic back as he has grown-up in a more fearful world and is more out to defend himself. He might even be more critical of Sonic in doing so. And as seeing as how Rusty can easily be reprogramed, I wouldn’t be surprised if he, switched her over to his side both for her knowledge on the Chaos Council and as a defender at some point. With saying that with Amy being robotized it really puts her character in a manipulative state and with how Nine used her before and with him being a tech genius, it’s just not a good mix. With Rusty being filp-flopped around so much it proves just how little control and say that she has in her life and I hope that when her turn comes, I hope that she gains control over that factor as that doesn’t look good for her character. Also, that’s just very sad. Lastly I hope that when Nine’s true colors finally do show, that The Chaos Council is rendered utterly shocked. Mouths all hanging open and everything.
What if his other variants (Sails and Mangy) try to reason with Nine? Then this show transitions from Sonic saving Tails (and the rest of his World) to Tails saving himself...
Regardless of whether or not he’s actually a bad person at heart, his portrayal in Prime was amazing imo, definitely the best version of Tails we had in years.
I interpreted Nine’s ultimate goal as less of “reshaping the world in his own image” and more of just getting away from everyone and everything that he despises. The shatter space he lays claim to is uninhabited, and according to him that’s why he chose it. So he can start over with Sonic away from all their troubles and the things that hurt them. It’s not a grand conquest of the multiverse, it’s a withdrawal into the one place he can finally be alone
According to Egg Memo #24 (Sonic Frontiers), Eggman prefers the status quo of Tails' excessive hero worshipping of Sonic, because he implies that Tails at his true potential would be a bigger threat to him than Sonic ever was. He was referencing the two times they threw down (both of which resulted in Eggman being totally CLOWNED).
The funny thing is what they did for Nine, is basically what I wondered if they were ever going to do with Tails. Because I always felt like if there was any instance of Eggman brainwashing Tails. The two tailed fox would be the actual threat over Eggman at that point.
Something that should be mentioned is that unlike the rest of the variants,Nine isn't a 'what if these character traits are focused on or pushed to an eleven,' but an instance of a minor backstory change that has major effect with any and all changes being due to the lack of a key moment for his original characterization.
This video only makes my love of tails and respect for Nine only grow. Yes,he's a really strong, chaotic wild card but as the show has stated, his heart is in the right place. He WANTS to live in a world re-written by him,but he wants to be with Sonic as he does so. I can honestly can see a plot twist in where he would reform the prism and pull a "Thanos" of nearly whipping the other universes clean and rebuilding them to his liking. But I'm also kinda rooting for him as I want to see him bond more with Sonic. I'm curious of how the writers are going to develop his character in Season 2
I love Nine. The Alternate Worlds are all very believable facets of each character with Tails and Nine being two halves of the same coin. Sonic was the first one to befriend tails and save him, so he became dependent on his savior. Nine never had a savior and shut everyone out. Both are very real paths for the Fox and in my opinion acceptable reactions for someone who dealt with what always seemed to be extreme bullying. Tails wasn't always strong like Knuckles, or confident like Rouge, so it makes sense out of everyone environment would have the strongest impact on Tails because unfortunately, he's weird, he NEEDS someone to help him have a place, because it is so much easier to push everyone out and make your own space, a space you won't let anyone else ruin, where everyone is a threat.
Nine is amazing, I’ve always loved Tails (that sounded wrong), but Nines? Nines is amazing! He’s so ambiguous, and I love it when characters are like that
Hello. I come from the future to deliver the news. Nine might have just become the true antagonist of the series. At the end of season 2, episode 8, he stole all of the prism shards from Ghost Hill and is now gonna use them to finish the Grim. You were right. We just experienced the scariest character of Sonic Prime reveal his true colors.
After watching season 2 this theory is right! He isn't evil he's the antihero. He's proof Tails could've survived without Sonic. And become something more than his original self, very liberated to his full potential and scary.
Yeah, I wouldn't call Nine necessarily evil; more like running on his survival instincts and dreams of a better life due being bullied and outcast. But, he does sit in a weird grey area where depending on which points are hit as the story goes on, he could either he can be the final kick to the Chaos Council's regime [and Shatterverse] or a way larger threat than all of them to the heroes [and Shatterverse]. There's even a case where BOTH could happen. (I can totally see him lay waste to New Yoke City; the question is, is it done AFTER the civilians are evacuated first? Since this is the closest we got to an potential antagonistic Tails that isn't done in a bizarre or brainwashed matter, I want to see what they're able to pull off before he ultimately has the redemption arc.)
I just love the little Easter egg fact that the number pad code for both Tails and Nine is 1992, which is when the first game featuring Tails The Fox came out! (Sonic The Hedgehog 2)
Tails is a smart kid who was bullied but saved by someone stronger than him. Nine is a smart kid who was bullied and had to toughen up and learn how to defend himself.
The finale opened my eyes. The variants aren’t individuals, but parts of a whole. Nine is just tails. Without the compassion , loyalty or sense of adventure. Those are somewhere in the other variants.
I always enjoyed the contrast between innocence and efficiency... Perhaps I should give this show a try... Let's see how Nine conquers my interest. Tails caught it because he's looks like a fun prey to play with. But Nine is no prey. Yet that doesn't mean he can't show me how he plays.
I’m not a sonic fan I’ve never played any of the games or watched any of the shows except sonic prime and I’m glad I did it’s an amazing show great character’s great writing love it I can’t wait for season two
Not only would a Tails betrayal be shocking and cool, but it would beautifully portray the themes of the series. True freedom and self-determination sound nice, but to embrace them completely, you have to abandon the companionship of others. Even Sonic himself isn’t so free that he has no friends.
I also want to point out the big foreshadowing we got from episode 1:
When Sonic go through the Shatterverse for the very first time, we see multiple characters saying different things, most of them foreshadowing what happens and how things change without Sonic around (such as Amy mentioning how the forest is the most beautiful place in the world, or Knuckles being ready to fight)
The second thing Tails says in this sequence is "I don't need an army when I've got a friend like you, Sonic !"
And Nine doesn't have a friend like Sonic.
Yeah
Oh my goddddd thats true💀I kinda hope he has an army that would be dope
He also says, “nothing could break me and sonic apart” and the first thing nine does when he sees sonic is attack him
Yo, I actually did not notice that!
*Suddenly it makes a WHOLE LOTTA SENSE why Nine would want to be "captured" by the Chaos Council.* 😨
_What better way to create your own army than to steal the crafting tools from those who have them but are less skilled than you?_
_What better way to create your own perfect world than to usurp those in power and become the one in charge._
Sweet merciful GOD, _I knew Nine was a menace,_ I just didn't realize HOW MUCH until now! 💀
I just realized. Nine’s character arc is basically just a reverse of Tails’ character arc, and also they are called the “Chaos Council”.

This Tails is arguably one of the best, hes independent, has his own goals, fights off them robots epicly and is just overall the opposite of being helpless or "cant defend himself"
AND HE LOOKS COOL TOO
Totally agree! Nine is awesome!
Sonic Frontiers is going in that direction of Tails too ish with him trying to be more brave but insecure about it
But man Nine is practically Tails but significantly more efficient, since this is the shatterverse and it's pretty much parts of all the characters but split up into different shards of themselves.
It's so cool that if you take Tails, Shave off his scared kid side along with his innocence and he becomes this deadly genius. Sure he's still scared of people but it's not to the point of helplessness but rather it's used as motivation (Like in Sonic Frontiers)
Also RIP Mangey and Sails, Mangey and Sails got more of the child like innocence and cowardly sides of Tails respectively.

My thoughts exactly!
yeah, tails is smarter then eggman, because tails is fighting for good and eggman is letting his own ego get in the way. if tails did turn evil, he would be the top villain of the franchise :0
"Hahahahahahaha! You've been hacked by Nine!"
Perfect meme.
Nine is a very intriguing character, one of my favourite versions, if not my favourite version of Tails.
Totally agree!
I agree too... because he is MY FAVORITE CHARACTER TOO.
Even more than Mangey?! 😱🤣😭
The original in contrast is what makes this version stand out so much... but when we think about it when feral Mangey tails was so wild and mischievous, but so tame and obedient once he trusts you, even the other tails, Nine is the only one with actual trust issues and I feel each paradox focuses on someone...
Nine - Tails paradox
Thorny - Amy paradox
Captain Knuckles - Knuckles paradox
we still need something that touches on Big the Cat more or Rouge, imagine alternate Rouge being a giving saintly bat girl who gives gems and food to all around her...
Oof. That line though. “When independence turns into isolation.” I feel like happens a lot in American culture
I feel like Americans don't really understand independence. Or at least take it for granted because they are dependent on so many earthly things. It does not turn into isolation at all. Look up Miyamoto Musashi's Dokkodo. Way of the Warrior.

@@ixiahj Ima disagree cuz humans are social creatures and we thrive in groups. But 9 is a fox, so maybe he can be successful on his own.
This is the first commet
Nine only becomes a villain if Sonic's goals contradict with his. He doesn't really want to shape a world in his own image. He wants his own world and he found it. Its that Grim place. Mostly because he wants out of New Yolk City. If Sonic's goal is to combine the prism shards and it wipes out Grim, then Nine becomes his enemy. But at the moment, only Nine understands the shards. Its why he's using the Eggmen to maybe gather all the shards for whatever reason. His plan is still not clear.
Maybe using the other shards he can remake the grim into what he wants? And that’s why he’s using the council?

1. He's actively important to the plot
2. He's a genuinely engaging and interesting character
3. What he's doing isn't entirely wrong but also opposes SONIC'S goals
For the last one let me explain.
Wow haven’t thought about this perspective. Great comment!
Starved...
@@Ranni Thank you so much!! You did an amazing video, I just wanted to point some stuff out that most creators tend to miss in these review videos! Hopefully Nine will find some way to achieve that happiness he deserves (in my opinion :)) as the show continues!
Spoiler alert!
Wait if Nine wants a world with him and sonic then why did he betray him at the end of season 2?!
@@thegreatorochisweg4131 That was because Nine would basically cease to exist if they bring Sonics world back. Plus, he wants Sonic and him to live in the Grim anyway.

AND I'M RIGHT!!!!!
He seems very untrustworthy and manipulative, and only looks out for himself
Edit: the way this comment aged so well 😂
He did care about Sonic, the only person to show any amount of concern for him. Well, until he told Nine they had to go back to New Yolk City.

Nornal sidekick tails usually cant have his own opinion since he has to follow sonic's footsteps, therefore "puppet"
But Nine isnt sega's work though, its netflix's and i applaued them for doing what Sega couldnt (Tails is better in frontiers though so i'll give them that)
Man just predicted season 2
Something I love is: Tails’ body language vs Nine’s body language. While Tails will usually have his twin tails in motion and spread out, I noticed that Nine always has his bio tails guarded by his prosthetic ones. And we rarely see Nine use his bio tails, except in the rare instances where he needed to fly rather than crawl. To me it feels like Nine completely rejected (or never thought of) the idea of turning his “defect” into a strength and instead took to covering up/guarding himself with his literal and figurative defensive measures.
If Nine turns out to be the true villain of the show, that would really subvert expectations in a clever way. I'm all for it.
And here we are
I find it funny how in an alternate universe, this one version of tails is probably able to outsmart 5 different versions of Eggman at once
I believe your contradiction was spot on big time season 2, if you watch the episode 8 you know what I'm talking about
I feel like Nine being a "final" antagonist/BBEG for the first season is pretty plausible.
Ooh that would be cool!
Another legend about a Kitsune’s number of tails is that they sprout more as they grow older and stronger. That makes me think they symbolize how Nine forced himself to stop being a kid.
Oh yeah that's good insight!
I didn't think about Nine being a Villain honestly it would be cool.
Seeing this after watching season 2

After finishing the second seaon in viewing all I can say is OOOOOFFF, not in a bad way but how accurately you called his character. I can't wait to see how this boy operates in the third season.
…..I need the Ninth Episode of prime to literally just be called “Nine” and have it focus on him.
Yo that’s genius haha!
@@Ranni yeah
Want something even better? Nine Alone. :)
I have a feeling at the end Nine will join the Rebels realizing you can’t get through life alone, if they are still a thing when Sonic leaves.
While nine is sure is an interesting character he's neither a hero not there yet at least neither an evil mastermind he just wants to feel loved and respected by the people around and just like OG tails sonic gave him that
Yeah I can totally see that!
That's probably what is really lying underneath him, but the way he was molded by his harsh world more than muddled that. Now he's clouded by al sorts of anger and ambitions.
The big thing with 9 is he is likely the only character who can fix the circumstances of sonic prime, unless the chaos council has a change of heart
Nine is my favorite character in this show by miles. His arc of how revenge can consume anyone is so well done, and I really cannot wait to see more of his arc!
Nine may be the main antagonist at the end. Especially with his dream of starting to live anew in the Void.
I see him becoming the main antagonist in the series.
Well, the first season ended

@@KiratiTatiyagarunwong I dunno dude, Nine definitely has some villainous potential, and that's undeniable.
@@justalpha9138 stop!!!! Nine is stilll a good guy!!!! Thorn rose is a villain
Hey, I'm from the future. Just Finished watching Sonic Prime season two (SPOILERS).
I've come to say that you were right about Nine.
You are have seen the future...
The chaos of all councils is inside Tails. He is basically the best character after Shadow.
I have so many questions and ideas but I still hope everything ends well
Sonic has the energy to do the same thing the paradox prism has
So chances are Nine wants Sonic to be in his side.
Nine is pretty much "Where Was My Hero" Tails, and I'm all for it.
I remember that video! that was suprisingly good!
I came back to this after watching the last episode of season 2 and you was correct 🥲 bro done betrayed sonic
I see I'm not the only one who isnt blinded by Nine being "a Tails" who are extremely adorable, yay!
Some days ago, Nine looks like that one tails from that one comic thing called "Where was my hero"
It gave me chills after that
Tails and Eggman are normally on the same level of intellect, the big difference it ones good and ones evil but the bigger difference is one is young and has more time to grow then the old one, Tails will not only outlive Eggman but become stronger then him in more ways then one. Tails could not only be the smartest and the strongest as time goes on whether he's good or evil but he could also be the richest and influential person in his world, if tails ever goes Anti-hero Eggman is done for 100%. One thing i love about sidekicks is they almost always have more story and potential then the main hero.
This video aged well.
I was about to post that but felt like I had to see if anybody else did first loll
It's insane how accurate this video turned out to be after watching the end of season 2, lol
Nine is a great for prime. He is my favourite character
When I think about it tails was ruined. By the time forces came around but hopefully tails will change in future games and generations for others like frontiers tails speaking about it
What's interesting about Nine is that he's unpredictable. You can't really tell what he'll do next, but i do think he's on the brink of being villain material.
You really predicted Season 2 😔

bro got it EXACTLY on point
Yea
Sonic: Hey Nine, your mechanical days are over. Give me the crystal emeralds.
Nine: If you want it. Then you’ll have to take it.
I love Nine character seeing he be all alone made you want to be his friend plus he’s adorable when he’s angry hehe
This really aged well
Yep
According to Egg Memo #24 (Sonic Frontiers), Eggman prefers the status quo of Tails' excessive hero worshipping of Sonic, because he implies that Tails at his true potential would be a bigger threat to him than Sonic ever was. He was referencing the two times they threw down (both of which resulted in Eggman being totally CLOWNED).
Reminds me of "where was my hero" Tails, but he didn't die, wasn't a villain, and were just alone..
*Amazing reference or not, it's still awesome*
Well this turned out to be completely right!
_That Season 3 pilot is _*_JAWdropping._* 😨 Nine is an absolute menace!
The funny thing is what they did for Nine, is basically what I wondered if they were ever going to do with Tails.
Because I always felt like if there was any instance of Eggman brainwashing Tails.
The two tailed fox would be the actual threat over Eggman at that point.
I am actually so glad how well this aged!!!
There was so much foreshadowing for Nine becoming the big bad! I can’t wait for the second half of the season
Yeah there were times that nine seemed to be untrustworthy. Even shadow before meeting nine waned sonic to not trust nine
@@BanishedSilentShadow3318yeah, I'm not the only one who wants to see nine fight shadow in seson 3
Nine is the Main Antagonist of Season 3;
That is a really interesting way of looking at Nine! I never really thought of the potential for him as a villain!
now hes the antagonist
Oh thats a really cool way to think about it
Making the alternate charecter grow in reverse to how the original has to
After watching season 2 this theory is right!
Can't even escape *GREEN HILL* in ancient Japanese mythology! XD
Very true haha!
Very true!
Not gonna lie. The fact Chaos Council caught him and he smiles. Makes you think he could be the final villain
Chaos council: We capture you and there's nothing you can do !
Nine: I can leave duh ..
Chaos council: 😡
