Oh yea it's one of the best tip for digital art I think!
Not just digital. Applies to all traditional art too
@@ssjayy-xs5lh i agree but like in digital it's easier to do this method...
sometimes I just put a black and white layer above my drawing and render without looking at the colored version and choose colors by simply guessing. it works with my art style
when values are right colors usually work!! it's a great and fun excersise
The "go and draw" really hits me, it's really been awhile since I draw 😭
Do it!

DO IT! YOU HAVE A SKILL! DON'T BE SHACKLED BY THE PAST
Lovin' the aggressive support from the comment section!!! 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Should add that this entirely depends on the context and style of your drawing. It’s not a bad rule for more exaggerated or non realistic styles, but when it comes to realism, it’s actually pretty uncommon to hit the entire value scale. In real life, seeing the darkest black and brightest white almost never happens. Understanding this can help so much with achieving a value scale in your drawing that is nuanced and controlled. But definitely a good approach to try the full scale generally and as you learn more, learn to taper it back.

Years of drawing exclusively in graphite really helped me hone my value contrasts, since I had no color and had to divide things by tone alone!
Sadly that all went out the window once I got my hands on markers and I went bananas. But it was fun while it lasted!
I learned this a while ago and the amount of art I've improved just using this tip is amazing!
“Now go and draw” was so fabulous 😂
Here is a tip i learned from a comic artist.
If your character has a similar value to the background and you really can't change it without affecting the mood, then add different textures to your piece.
Texture is another way to add contrast and its really being slept on.
This exact video was stolen for an adobe cloud ad or smth relating to photoshop. I got the ad on shorts so many times, I almost skipped this video too thinking it was the ad
I've seen that tip surfing the Internet for so many years... it's just an art tip dude. Some people see it here for the first time and all that matters is that it helps
Recently did a full character design process and followed as many of your tips as I could find, including this, and I’m really proud of the outcome - thank you!!
"The whites are gonna stand out so strongly against the blacks" moustache guy would be proud
Remember that if you want a different look, this isn’t a hard and fast rule!😊❤️
Oh, the gradient at the 😮
I think low contrast pieces can look really nice too
always gotta have ur type huh
no one said otherwise.
Can you do a lesson on how to use greyscale, please? Ty!
I AM GOING TO DRAW! after, one more short… oh wait, look at that one… hold on…
this is amazing! Thank you!
Is she an elf?
"NOW GO AND DRAW"
Still working on this skill! 😅
What's helpful, thanks!
What song is this in the background? Good choice of music!
Team CHIAROSCURO!!!
I feel "lazy" when I do it, because I don't have to suffer & put any work into the background... BUT IT LOOKS SO GOOD
Is there a way to translate this knowledge to tradtional? My medium is alochol markers and id so love to nail more contrast!
Black against white, or really dark against lighter colours, complimentary colours, different textures or composition help too
Umm l have to ask, how do you do that on ibis paint x… could you pls show me.. or tell me ❤️
get your finished work and use the grayscale filter
🎉hai🎉 sena🎉

The elf ears... I can't... Marry me
I seen this as an ad💀
Yes fairy, we shall go and draw!🧝🏻♀️🐁🤎
