I am 95% sure that you accidentally put "mook" instead of "book", but my headcanon will remain that the original comment was left by an unamused Bodega owner. 🤷♂️
I dig the mook reviews, they're really inspiring. This one especially. It's great for people that want to ascend past snap building but don't have the means or desire to commit to the more demanding aspects of the hobby
I agree with you, I started out just snap building. Then panel lining with pencils...then panel liners...then hand painted...then...bought a airbrush and pump/tank....now where do I put my hobby station?!
When you mentioned that enamel paints damage the plastic, i realized when they keep recommending the use of a hair dryer, it's probably to quickly cure the products and reduce the possibility of it sipping in everywhere. I don't speak japanese to know if they mention it, but it could mitigate the possibility of damage.
I was so excited to see this review. And it is good! But the more I saw the more I recognized things. Then found this Mook on my shelf. LOL. Another commenter said it has been translated on Kindle. I may just pick it up and books 2 and 3 in the series.
Captured GM with the Zaku II part's was my favorite. I love swapped mobile suits especially when they are modified comparing to just a paint job with EFSF or Zeon decals applied.
Building Note: Compressed air siphon feed sprayers suck. Had one when I first started building. Clean up is a pain and the air cans can get expensive, especially if you need a few. Just invest in an airbrush. They're not as complicated as one might think.
I figured that would be the case. Seems a bit like a crutch to make the mook fit the “no airbrush” claim. If he wanted to paint then should have just used airbrush or spray can imo. Kinda like the segment on painting on the runners, I don’t agree with everything in there 🤷♂️
If you mean compressed air cans used with an airbrush then no I would not recommend that. Spray can paint can be fine, especially for beginners. But airbrush with a compressor would be the best for painting (or hand painting but it requires different technique)
i term of cleanness i would say paint is better but in term easiness to apply and less time to consume i would say waterslide. so it's based on your limitation.
This mook was officially translated and released on the kindle app. totally worth it.
is it the same title?
@@ryuu_0812 yes
Will buy. Thanks!

@@froznpyro not an accident. They are called mooks in Japan.
definitely stealing the idea of damaging the gelgoog's armor to reveal that beautiful inner frame
Same! 👀

Yep these mooks are great for that. Japanese definition of “beginner” is kinda like beginner-intermediate by western standards I think 😆
I don't have space for an airbrush setup where I am, and the advice in this mook is a godsend
There is an English version of this. It's still available to buy online as print, as download even on Amazon and available online
Always enjoy your Mook vids. Eye opening techniques from the simple to the complex. Thanks. Please keep them coming.
Thanks, will do!

I’ll check the translation! But I found out that they also have an English version of this available to purchase for digital kindle!
I just found the book and now i know what to do next with my weathered ver3.0 RX-78-2.
Awesome!
Nice, cutting out the shape of the sticker decals. Didn't think about that one.
Always enjoy these mook reviews. Glad you still do them.
Glad you like them! More to come!
The second mook in the series on HG’s is also worthwhile. I love the last one in this book, the masuo detailing style is pretty neat and inventive.
Is that the one with the Astray on the cover? I’ve got that one in the queue as well
@@ZakuAurelius it’s a unicorn with an illustration style
You deserve more recognisition dude. Your videos are awesome.
I appreciate that! Thanks!

Yes I forgot at the time of recording but that’s correct! The English versions are available! Which is awesome! 👍

That one is cool! 👍
Learned some new techniques from this book
I’ll take a deeper dive and share some more with y’all soon!
Thanks for sharing. This is something really helpful for average modelers . Would love to see more
Glad it was helpful!
Would be a interesting contest theme!
I loved this video, thank you for making it.

Quality video 🔥
So i have heard the air cans are hard to find/not worth it, should I just paint by hand?

@@ZakuAurelius right my budget doesnt allow for airbrush.
paint your camo VS using water-slide decals for your camo, which is better?

What's a mook?
What is a mook?
Japanese word for something that isn’t a traditional bound book, but it’s not a monthly publication. Magazine + book = mook
gyan looks cool, wanna make my own knight like theirs. i like this series. good reminders/inspiration/tech. sankyuu
You’re welcome!
