- The festive season is truly upon us and in today’s 4K walking tour I visit the beautiful historic city of Canterbury in Kent. It is a popular tourist destination, most famous for the Cathedral, university, stunning architecture and for being the seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury - and who could forget the classic Canterbury Tales by Chaucer!
In December though, the streets of Canterbury are on a different level - it’s got a huge Christmas market around the high street area with over 50 stalls and attractions, bars, Christmas music, Christmas lights and decorations. I explore Whitefriars, Westgate Gardens, the Roman city wall, the King’s Mile with its quirky shops (including the wonky bookshop!), hunt for the most independent coffee shop I can find and even stop at a pub for a traditional Sunday roast (and a pint as always..)

Great video Jack. I used to spend a fair amount of time in Canterbury back in the 80's (yeah I'm an old fart) when my girlfriend's dad was the landlord of the Rose & Crown. Nice town and looks like it remains so today.

Jack I do love Canterbury especially at Christmas time. Rye in Sussex is my personal favourite place at Christmas time 👍👍😁

@@jackryanmiller Jack they could film a Christmas Carol in Rye without a film set, Rye is the film set. Also Rye is the best place for Bonfire night, it is always held on the Saturday after November the 5th. It is amazing. 👍👍😁
If you want to see Canterbury at it's best you need be at the Christmas Carol in Rose Lane.

Hello, very nice video! In the beginning of the video you mentioned that the christmas market is till the beginning of january. On the internet we saw it ends on the 24th of december. We plan to go on the27th. Do you maybe know what to expect?
Thanks very much. And I’m so sorry for any confusion, sadly it does end on Christmas Eve - I went to two markets on the day I filmed this and got the timings mixed up ☹️

Ooh I think maybe not in Canterbury but if you’re staying in London on Christmas Day I’d say a lot of stuff is open as normal (apart from shops)
