Not news I was looking to here.🙁 I purchased my Zappiti Neo back in 2021 and it has some issues and was replaced for free last year. It has been working flawlessly. I was just thinking about the Zidoo products after just purchasing a Eversolo DMP-A6 to use as my main music streamer. I've had it about a month and love it as it replaced my BS Node 2i because the SQ is much better. I even connected my old ext usb blue ray optical drive to the usb port and was able to rip music CD directly to the internal SSD drive where all my music files are stored. It was pretty fast and rips to flac and wav files as well. I was also able to sideload Pandora app on it. I did not think I would find anything that sounded better than my BS Node 2i and can use for most if not all my music playback. If Zappiti is no more I was looking at the Zidoo z2600 which looks like a direct replacement for the Zappiti Neo because it has the same output connection out back. Your Thoughts? PM
Hooray when do I get to buy the most prolific home theater creator entertainer in 4k trinov michi monster of rock and congratulate on the subs. I know you do a fantastic production for content creators too.
Typical.... I just bought the nas and a couple of players... From a business standpoint they should have charge a monthly fee this would give them a decent cash flow and enable continuous software development.
I wonder if there is a market for a company shipping a HTPC because that is what this was. More HTPC than media platform. Companies used to do it when WMC was still shipped software. Man I miss windows media center. Best of luck to the company's founders and those employees now looking for work.
Running out of people with lots of money is bound to happen to Kaleidescape as well. I still cant believe people even rich people can justify spending $9k for a 6tb NAS and limited use media player.
Almost bought the NAS with thier reference player just because Kaleidescape is so d_m expensive and Synology requires so much hands on updating. Geez! 😢 I wonder, since it's a French based company does anybody know if they got bullied out of the Home Cinema 🎥 market? I was looking to invest into zappiti at one point but the signs were there glad they sent out an official letter atleast.
@@MrBjorn6 Dune Real Vision 4K & the new 4K Plus are both better than Zidoo Z9X and Pro. Faster performance, Android TV option. The new Z9X Pro is slightly faster than last gen, but still slower than even Dune Real Vision 4K. The Pro also has too many bugs and it has been over 2 months and still no new firmware to fix problems. For example, 3D MVC/ISO playback is just plain broken.
@MrBjorn6 dune comes preload with google playstore and aptoide both are playstores to download compatible apps for your device. You don't have to sideload much because from those two sources they have you covered basically 99%. On top of that their automated framerame switching is superior it does it before playback and your content plays quicker than zidoo. This is this is really sad but anybody who was paying attention shouldn't be surprised. DVD ripping has been sketchy for decades. Knowing the zappiti was breaking the DRM I figured they might eventually be a target for the US regulators and/or movie labels. So, enthusiasts should have seen thos coming, but i feel bad for the non enthusiast customers who bought these, and the installers who support them. Not a lot of good answers for any of those folks
I've had a Zappiti Duo for a few years now. The Zappiti player interface is atrocious, the image settings are fanciful and it's impossible to have neutral reference colorimetry... subtitle management is poor (no possibility of adjusting luminance, nor online downloading either). Re-booting is laborious and requires a USB key... horrible remote control to use. Older models are ''incompatible'' with Dolby Vision due to a so-called hardware incompatibility... (They're lying, an update would suffice). Too expensive for what it was.
This is why open systems are preferable... a pc with makemkv and jellyfin running does the same thing with more functionality for less money, and no single supplier to be stuck with.
Sorry, not everybody wants to tinker with sofware installs and whatnot and certainly not having a pc running all the time to be able to play videos. And I have 3 Zapittis in different rooms, so this would not be a solution for this. And a PC powerfull enough to output 4k Atmos Streams is way more expensive than an standalone player like dune or Zapitti.
I was so close to buying the NAS earlier this year but was concerned (thank goodness) by the closed system where you are dependent on Zappitti. Hearing the rumours about their insolvency was the clencher for me not to buy. Whew, could have been an expensive mistake. I really feel for people who invested a lot of $$$ into the NAS and players.
Other than Kaleidescape, no other movie server is legal. Stop recommending shit that is illegal from companies that will be out of business in no time. People are spending money based on the recommendations you give them. Be honest with your subscribers.
Kaleidescape could just as likely go out of business.......in fact they almost have in the past. Kaleidescape is for people with more dollars than sense. Nothing is safe. Might as well go with the best bang for the buck option available....which is NOT Kaleidescape nor was it Zappiti. I just dont get all the doom and gloom...there are and have been many options besides Zappiti. If worried about legalities....then Itunes and Vudo are there and provide as much "ownership" of media as Kaleidescape for a fraction of the cost.
You sound like a noob. Do you even know what this device does. Clearly you don't. Pay attention to the videos on what these players do and do not do or use Google. And Stop with the uninformed comments you make yourself look ignorant.
There are 3 companies all pushing the same platform. Dune, Zappiti, and Zidoo. If you look close at the players they are all based on the same Chinese platform. Zappiti took the videophile approach with hardware AND software though not any better than the other companies. In fact it was said software was often funneled down from Zidoo. If you try to charge twice the price for the same product it’s only time before the customer discovers the truth.
Unnecessary but cool. I’ve gotten into the Zidoo player over a year ago and a Kaleidescape recently, and there’s some nice convenience with both approaches. If the day comes, hopefully soon, when we can get the higher bitrate downloads or streams then both will be pretty obsolete. In the meantime they’re a nice experience.
Kaliedescape is the best device of its kind. The size doesn’t lie when it comes to data more available than a disk. Yes it’s expensive, but it’s not a product not meant for the average person. Neither is a Ferrari. Their is more to this than just base specs on paper.
@@sgandrewthe thing that bothers me about that argument is that it’s not a Ferrari. It’s a media player and a hard drive. Even the software isn’t really state of the art . It’s only unique bc they are the only ones offering high bit rate downloads. Why that is, I’m not sure. I have some ideas though. If discs became a thing of the past and the only way to get the same quality was Kaleidescape then that would really suck.
Ummm… while this is sad, at least from my end, I forecast this would be soon the case because of what happened with k-scape. they, too, got shut down and had to change their entire business model just to exist. I asked many UA-cam presenters how is it possible for US customers to rip their own Blu-ray/4k/dvds and add to NAS when k-scape was sued and lost for just this very process. I never received a reply from any UA-camr. All good… i know they didn’t have the answer. Anything stored on someone else’s server is a problem for ownership. If you can’t rip your own optical discs or download purchased content to your own in-house server, you risk eventual loss of library. … Sad to say. And now, Best Buy no longer sells blu-rays… not long before other retailers follow. Purchase your favorites while you can, store ‘em. Time will come when you wont own your media… you’ll just have subscription services and quality limited to your internet connection speeds.

Shane what model Ziddo do you suggest. I have a Zappiti Reference and Neo. Also where can you buy these players other than eBay?
@@darthsimon4393Amazon has them as well as Ziddo’s website.
Zidoo 2000 Pro is awesome I think it’s better the Nvidia Shield Pro
It cost a lot more also 🤔
@@MrBjorn6 I agree it’s worth. I also own a Nvidia Shield Pro. Both are great media players however with the Zidoo 2000 Pro you can store a 16TD drive without the ads that comes the Nvidia Shield Pro
Yup i still have my Zidoo pro player! Just get more hard drives that's all with pre loaded movies!!! No problem!
@@ccnp2009i believe for Zidoo Z2000 pro is up to 17.4 T ?
@@howardmenkis5252 Howard why don’t you build a NAS with TrueNas. That your Zidoo to the next level
Plex still rules ;)
What about Trinov? Did they not buy Zappiti?
Zappiti was always kind of silly. It made more sense to use a NAS to stream to a Shield Pro. Much more control and nothing proprietary.

Nvidia Shield and Plex NAS is the only solution.
I’ve always just used my Nvidia Shield, USB HD and Plex which has worked great.
I use the same but instead of a USB HD I have a HTPC/Media server along with Plex
Shield uses hdmi2.0b No eARC, No VRR, No QFT, No 4:4:4 RGB, Nothing higher than 60hz Refresh. No 8K...4 year old tech. Pffft.
Who wouldve thought people couldn't afford it...?
Price wasn't the issue.
Shane, they are all basically the same players. With good software they should all be capable of performing at the same level.
Damn , sad news indeed😢
I am using z1000 pro it is excellent
They ran out of high end clients. Not everyone can fork out that amount of money for entertainment
Geez! 😢
I wonder, since it's a French based company does anybody know if they got bullied out of the Home Cinema 🎥 market?
We just finished putting the final touch on a dedicated home theater and had Magnolia come over and set up the Savant controller. It is something I feel a lot of people should experience. I was going to invite Youth man (Michael) over to see it. Maybe you should come Shane. We are in Pasadena California
Zidoo will be next, there’s no free lunch.
I have the new Zidoo Z9x pro along with the dune hd real vision 4k plus and I can confidently tell you dune is a top player as well. If you're on the latest beta release they changed their user interface and it looks very nice in my opinion. Playback on it is flawless better than zidoo. I was looking to invest into zappiti at one point but the signs were there glad they sent out an official letter atleast.
How is dune better than Zidoo? In what way?
I hear the new Zidoo (june 2023) are better than Dune
Both are solid but it'll it came down to my picking l would choose dune 100 percent
I love my Dune HD MAX Vision 4K Player, it is ridiculously fast, plays all ISO’s with HDR DolbyVision etc. it’s literally perfect!
It was only a matter of time 😮
This is this is really sad but anybody who was paying attention shouldn't be surprised.
This type are systems becoming outdated for the price. You can just run a server through your own PC and run Plex/Jelllyfin/Kodi and you're set.
Try DUNE
I love my Dune HD MAX Vision 4K Player, it is ridiculously fast, plays all ISO’s with HDR DolbyVision etc. it’s literally perfect!
Zidoo has been better than Zappiti the last couple of years
This is why open systems are preferable... a pc with makemkv and jellyfin running does the same thing with more functionality for less money, and no single supplier to be stuck with.
Hey dude , Shane this is a sad day for some home theater buffs. Don’t have one yet, was thinking about getting one in a year, but now I don’t know.
Zidoo FTW.
Bout damn Time
Influencers lol 🤣
I was so close to buying the NAS earlier this year but was concerned (thank goodness) by the closed system where you are dependent on Zappitti. Hearing the rumours about their insolvency was the clencher for me not to buy. Whew, could have been an expensive mistake. I really feel for people who invested a lot of $$$ into the NAS and players.
New app that you pay for Monthly. Horse sh..t
Please EQ your mic. Too much bass
There's a low cut filter applied. You should calibrate your system.
Join the gang I have an Oppo 205
Lol it was one of the dumbest names for for a piece of equipment yet
Fingers crossed I love my zappiti neo player
@@therealshaneleeI couldn’t agree with you more Shane!!!
Surprise surprise. A unnecessary device. That kaliedescape garbage will be next.
@@sgandrew you better have a Ferrari if you have that thing lol
@@danielwander605 it’s like that because it’s a device that is unnecessary to many homes. An Apple TV or firestick is more than enough.
Zidoo is total garbage. The shield pro is way better
Nah you just didn’t know how to set it up lol
Sad to say.
And now, Best Buy no longer sells blu-rays… not long before other retailers follow.
Purchase your favorites while you can, store ‘em. Time will come when you wont own your media… you’ll just have subscription services and quality limited to your internet connection speeds.
