I'm always working on 10 or so different things. I may be working on getting to deep half and a couple of escapes from that position, if they stuff the deep half attempt I may also be working on getting to the squid guard and sweeps there, or while from the guard I may be working to get into x or coming up to a single leg, and so on. This way I don't need to push the work into an area, from where I'm at, I have something to work towards. And I try to drill off of things I am working on at least one time a week so I can get to them quickly. (19 years in BJJ)
Really wish local comps had longer matches. I find it difficult to accumulate fatigue on my opponent in a 5min match, leaving enough time for a takedown/pass into a sub :\
Can you make a video on how to slow a young person down? I have this one guy who’s 26 and he’s a blue belt like me but I’m 48 and he always wants to roll with me but I hate it. He’s all over the place he never gets tired and always gives me black eyes haha
Thanks,Josh. One thing I have trouble with is finding enough opportunities to work on certain techniques when the coach is the one dictating the training sessions. It would be great to have open mat more often to practice but those are infrequent and mainly happen just around the holidays.
Spot on commentary. Brown belt here, appreciate you taking the time to post this.
#1 - not tracking your training sessions in any way
#2 - not working on your weaknesses
#3 - going 100% / relying heavily on physical attributes
Thanks for sharing bro, íll start taking notes

What does tracking look like tho I can have the intention and write down today I want to work on crab I can even film my roll but what did I track
My main goal in my last competition is to slow down and control the pace.
