Thank you for making this video. I am one of the ones that suggested it.
Thanks for the idea! You can do it firewall and group policy, bit more involved and it will properly lock it down
Hmm... On Windows 10; I've taken and gone to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Settings and created a shortcut of my connection to my desktop and when I right click the shortcut I have the option to Disable the connection. When I want to reconnect, I right click the shortcut and reconnect. Well, that works for me. Interesting all the ways to do this. Thanks
I actually do this on my retro Windows XP machine so I can keep the machine itself offline but remote into my main PC and use the internet to download mod packs for retro games and once they download to my main PC I just transfer them across my local network to my Windows XP machine. It's actually really good because I don't need to faff about with USB sticks, virtual machines (which most OS's today are too resource intensive for an old XP machine, so VMs aren't really viable) and saves me from having to run up and down the stairs between PCs all the time. Honestly I genuinely feel this is the closest experience you can possibly get to using Windows XP online 100% safely in 2025, since Windows XP itself is not actually online. But I will put my hand up and say I would love it if you did a more advanced video on this subject, since I'm all for finding different ways to keep my XP machine locked down without having to unplug the ethernet cable.
Thanks for sharing
Brilliant content! I wanted to set up my file server to only serve the LAN and not connect to the outside world. Thanks for this information.
I'm interested in that firewall option, would like an in depth video on that
Lets see how this video does.
Excellent video about limiting internet access. I would be interested in finding out more advanced methods as you suggested by group policy editor and also how the vpn programs limit the internet access as well
See how this video does
Good video Brian! Thanks for always sharing with us!💖👍😎JP
My pleasure!!
Could you please explain what " connected without internet " means and how to fix it?
I get that on occasion on my phone, laptop, and TV.
Thanks for all you do to help us.
Only at the 10 second mark but i am going to guess just removing the gateway ip from the adapter properties. 🤔
I assume this only applies to the specific computer you are on, and not the others, or the router.
the methods you use stop the pc from connecting to the internet but do they hide the pc from outside ie block from hackers ?
Or you can just remove wan cable from your router and leave lan cables as they are.
Thanks. I used the fake proxy settings in the past. There is also a way of hiding the connections tab altogether. I don't recall how to do it. I haven't had to do that in years.
group policy
A lot of new routers allow you to block the internet on devices now but still have internal network access.
Correct
can you do a hiren's bootcd review please
What would you like to see me do with it?
Thats what we gonna up , This is what i am want ( useful )
Thanks
Excellent
Thanks
Da’man! Greta video
