      Hell yeah! Why not just title the tournament prep as a challenge series--like the "unchained challenge", or maybe something clever with like a warm/hot temperature pun to go with the uThermal name--where the "rules" are just "play Terran, use all the tools, train & get wins". Then rack up all the challenge clicks & views at the same time while honing your tourney skills 🙂. I don't think every challenge series necessarily always has to have the exact same "take MMR as high as it can go with extra constraints imposed on yourself" structure... either way, I'm totally here for this too.

      This actually could be the new meme build that works against pros. His opponents will expect him to do some memey cheese tactic, like proxy mass Cyclone or Widow Mines walking in through a mineral wall that was mined out by a Mule, or whatever, and then worry themselves to death and do all sorts of inefficient things like sending too many workers to scout or playing too safe. When in fact uThermal will be playing normally and getting a huge economy advantage because his opponents played themselves.

    You are a joy to watch. Keep it up! It’s cool to see the thought process of such high level play occur in real time. Hearing other people sportscast a game has its own vibe, but more often than not they are guessing at the players thought process. You manage to do it all while keeping an upbeat attitude and the watcher gets totally invested with you.

  • @theiginator
    @theiginator 6 місяців тому

    Damn, it's a satisfying vid watching you play/real-time commentate on your highest MMR account while facing some proper ranked pros in a non-cheese fashion. Love seeing when you outplay an opponent, but also love when you make a mistake/lose a trade but are still hyped because it's an exciting battle and can appreciate the enemy dub in the moment... I feel like the fact you can plainly recognize and respect when you're bested in certain circumstances is actually very strategically valuable...
    You exhibit the least toxic behavior of all time. Idk how you do it, but it's such a good example you set, and really drives passion for this game

    When I'm thinking about Marc playing in tournaments - first what comes to mind is a mix of challenges and "normal" strategies. I remember the moments when during the challenge videos Marc was saying like "Oh, it now would be really good to build these units to win, but we can't because of challenge rules". Hope in tournament this won't be a problem! :)

    Building Banshees against Protoss is normally useless unless they start using Disruptors then just 4 cloaked Banshees can help take them out, and they can be used as distractions/backup/worker-killers when not hunting Disruptors.
    They can't send the Disruptors forward at will to throw out their balls, or keep them back to keep them safe, they have to keep them in the centre of their army or they are easily picked off.
    It's like what Protoss do with their Prism full of storms, you don't need much supply invested to force your opponent's playstyle into a knee-jerk reaction of protecting their Disruptors.

    My guess for a cyclone timing with tvp is cyclone into mines while building up bio? You can use the factories to help build up the starport's reactors/labs as well. So maybe a 2 factory reactor for cyclone into 1 factory mine while the second factory builds the add ons.

    Marc, we really want you to win. I have a wild idea for you. In the evenings, set aside time to practice mentally. If you're actually going to win, you'll need to beat the best. So practicing against randoms will not aid you in the final game. You'll need to have practiced mentally, at the peak of your imagination. You can review concepts, builds, your feelings around the 150 tvp transition. Go over the game step by step, in your mind. This is a massively valuable step that you may already be doing, but it would also be really cool to have a video explaining this experience, and how you prepared for the tournament. A behind the scenes, and something that could be shared after the event. You can absolutely win this. Practice smarter, not harder.

    Nice, love to see some try hard late game mechanics!
    It might be difficult for the pros to play you, because they'll feel the pressure to win vs a no-longer-officially-pro. They know that you're one of the best at cheeses and mind games, and would be scared of falling for some trap looking silly. At the same time they also know that you have a very solid late game, so it's not like they can just play safe and be guaranteed the win if they live through the opening. Must be a nightmare to vs tryhard uthermal in a tournament, and I trust uthermal to make the most of that mental pressure. :D

    attack with cyclons and then go tank and widow mines, while pushing you can build 2 techlabs with the barracks, build 2 extra barracks and put one on the fact. reactor and one on the extra techlab, go tanks marine marouder with this. Medivacs would miss but you can probably put down the starport during attack. Then going single Medivac at a time. with the second factory you can build a reactor for the starport as you want
